MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE?

after much contemplation, i’ve decided it’s finally time to drop solji and rookies as a whole. it’s something that i’ve thought about since june 2018 when i had first nearly dropped this girl but couldn’t because my internet went out. however, there’s no use continuing to put off the inevitable. i’ve been struggling to write for her for months, and despite the fact that becoming an idol would bring new development to her, it would also make it that much harder to plot with anyone outside of her group. plus, debut was always the goal and as of monday, november 18, 2019, we have reached that goal.

on top of that, rookies has always been a bittersweet place for me. it’s a place that i’d enjoyed at one point in time, but around the time when i had first dropped the rp back in 2016, i had been deeply hurt by a few people here and while it’s a story of the past and that i try my best to keep there, i think some of that hurt continues to manifest itself now. 

not only that, but there are a lot of things about how this place has been run that i’ve had issues with, particularly with how more serious issues are handled as well as the transparency of how events are determined. i’ve had my name revealed in conversations with people whom i had issues with by the admod team and while those people probably already had some idea of who had issues with them, there was no reason to have brought up my name outrightly. or if it was necessary, it would have been nice to have been asked in advance. i was told that, if ever that person might come to bother me, the admods would watch my back, but the more i think about it the more i wonder if i was just told what i wanted to hear. i was still getting stalked all the way up until i dropped the other muse. maybe that was the revenge that person sought? or maybe it wasn’t the person at all and now i had just made someone else upset? i don’t know and i guess i’ll never know 100%. 

anyway, the point is that it’s not fun anymore and i’m getting too old to be wasting my time not having fun. i’ve watched myself become more and more bitter over time and the toxicity of this place has literally seeped into me. it’s time to cut it off, and i’m honestly incredibly relieved to be taking my exit.

i'm most sorry to the people who really did make an effort to try and be my friend here ( i hope you know that that doesn’t have to end here even if my time here has ). i’m also very thankful to all of you who chose to write with me throughout all these years. while i’ll probably not be keeping my current krp twitter, i always have my personal twitter and discord that you can ask for and would love to keep in touch if you’d like. i’m also not 100% gone from the krp world. but i’ll be signing off as mc / jae for now. if we meet again as someone else, then i look forward to that meeting ( you are 100% welcome to ask me for info but i might not be ready to share just yet to everyone. my intentions are not to hide, but all i really want at this time is to focus on my writing without additional worries so i hope you’ll respect my decision )

ic-wise, i’ve toyed with the idea of solji accidentally having gotten knocked up again or something happening with her son that made her realize that the idol life wouldn’t be possible to stay in anymore. her entire life has just been a series of bad timing events, but that’s okay. i think she’s happy nonetheless. :>

@rkjaeyoon : after making the call, jaeyoon hears an operator telling him to leave a message and after the beep, he remains quiet. unsure of how he was going to start off his message, he begins, “hey, solji…or should i now call you g.soul?” he laughs afterwards as he says her stage name out loud. “i can’t believe that is your stage name. but in a way, it fits you too.” his voice is soft and meek this time around as he shakes his head. when he first saw the teasers, he didn’t expect solji’s to be the first one. but in some ways, he is glad as well since it meant that he didn’t have to wait too long for the day her teaser would be dropped. “but anyways, i guess this is my way of congratulating you on your debut. you…um…look stunning as always.” he became quiet again after his comment as he contemplates over what else he wants to tell her, jaeyoon is reminded by the idea that solji probably didn’t have that much time to listen to his message. “and um…i always knew that you were a talented performer. you deserve everything right now and so much more. good luck and i’ll…” his voice trails off as he wonders whether he should admit to her what he wanted to say a while back. “i’ll cheer for you as loudly as i can.” he ends the call while hoping that maybe one day, he could say the words that he wanted to say for quite some time.

it was still unreal to have seen her teasers for and*roma’s debut. it was always something that she dreamed of and not something that she actually imagined would happen to her. she smiled at the texts that she received from friends and family letting her know how great she looked in them and that they were cheering her on in her debut. it was things like that that kept her going. however, what she didn’t realize was the voicemail that was left on her phone. did that just get there or was that already there?

she hit play as she moved the phone to her ear. her lips formed into a smile as she heard jaeyoon’s voice. it had been a long time since she had spoken to him, a result of her busy schedules getting ready for the debut. she laughed as he called her by her stage name. it was still unreal that she was going to be promoting under a different name. she finished listening to the voicemail and was just about to call back when her friend started yelling for her. oh right, she was supposed to go with them to eat somewhere. “coming!” she cried as she started typing out a few messages for the other.

“i think they’ll let you go back to blonde. i don’t know when, but they have to!” chaeyoung insisted, although chaeyoung really had no clue as to how they decided the hairstyles for each of the members. she figures that it depends on the concepts, but even with the mvs they would film next month, chaeyoung wondered why the lack of variety.

nodding her head in agreement, chaeyoung was certain that maintaining the hair colors would be difficult especially for the members who had a lighter color. for her, matching the color to her roots wasn’t the challenge but the fact that some of her hair was fake and not real. pouting over her situation, she crosses her arms. “you’re right. we don’t need to do touch-ups as much. i kind of wished that nova would give me a few more months to grow my hair instead of having extensions. when we were in sn project, i had short hair so that’s what most of the people  remembered me for.”

solji chuckled, glad that chaeyoung seemed as passionate about getting her blonde hair back as she was. “maybe it’ll be good for my hair to grow out its normal color again.” she always did worry if she’d end up being one of those idols who had extremely damaged hair because of all the dye jobs that they had to undergo. she didn’t want that either, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise that she wasn’t being asked to take on a unique hair color.

“true,” she nodded her head. she did wonder why they had been adamant about giving her the longer hair. after all, it wasn’t like all of the girls had long hair. “i guess they thought you look better for the song with long hair?” she shrugged her shoulders. she honestly had no good answer for the other. everything was just speculation on her part.

an exasperated sigh comes out of her lips as she thinks about their upcoming debut. once they were announced to be in the final lineup, chaeyoung was starting to realize that she missed even more the things that she liked when she was a private trainee.

“mhmm,” chaeyoung agrees with solji while thinking about some of the stories and articles she has heard recently about the idols. “i don’t know what brand would be interested in giving and*roma a modeling contract, but i think we all have unique images so we attract a wide audience.” with some of the idol groups, she can imagine a particular image that represents them but whenever she looks at and*roma, she can’t help but think about how versatile they are.

laughing at solji’s comment, chaeyoung admits out loud, “i don’t know how some of our sunbaes do it, to be honest. some of them have been in these practice rooms for twice as long as we do and i’m getting tired of seeing the same rooms. nova should renovate them every so often so that we don’t get tired of it.” she adds the latter as a joke, even though she is certain that nova wouldn’t do such a thing unless it was necessary. turning to see that the photographer was now looking for chaeyoung, she turns to look at solji. “i guess it’s my turn. wish me luck!”

solji thought about this point, but she didn’t really have an answer for the other. these were just things that you didn’t really know until they happened. or maybe she was simply the clueless one. “i hope that’s the case. it would be nice to be able to attract a wide audience.” that was every idol group’s dream, right? to gather a large fanbase that varied so that they could appeal to more types of people. 

she nodded her head when the other agreed with her about the practice rooms. “i agree,” she exclaimed, “but i guess that wouldn’t actually make sense since they’re pretty new.” she knew that the other was also just messing around and joking with her, but solji couldn’t help but laugh for a bit if they really did suggest something like that. soon enough, however, the photographer was looking for chaeyoung to shoot her shots.

“good luck!” she cried, pumping up her fist as she got up to stretch. maybe she’d go take a walk and enjoy this momentary freedom.

“wouldn’t want to be taking up another persons seat” it would had been more than awkward for him to interrupt a date or a girls days or something along those lines. he just wanted to ask to make sure it was safe for him to take the empty chair across from her.

what was he doing? to be honest he didnt know all he knew was that was that he was interested in her. interested in how she has been doing after all these years. was solji doing better? he had hopes that she was a lot better than when they had split. “i should buy you a drink.” maybe that would ease the atmosphere between the two of them. 

looking at the menu he hummed to himself a little not sure what to say to her. looking at the menu was a way for him to kill some time to think about some conversation starter. although he was good at talking for some reason he couldnt do it at this moment. “so umm, what have you been up to?”

he question closing the menu and ordering a drink for himself “coke and crown please,”

solji shook her head. he wasn’t going to be taking up another person’s seat. actually heck, she didn’t even know who she would bring with her to a place like this. it was usually somewhere she just liked to get away to and think. perhaps it wasn’t the best of places to do so, but she did it anyway. 

“ah, you don’t have to,” she exclaimed. but she also wouldn’t say no to a drink. considering how he had broken apart their relationship, it seemed like a small price for him to pay, right? not that she was going to say that aloud. however, as the bartender came back over, she ordered a cosmo and left it unsaid as to who would be paying for it. if he truly wanted to, then she wouldn’t oppose again.

“uhhh ... i suppose a lot of things. i’m actually training right now. i don’t know if you watched supernova project?” she began. it felt like a lot of people didn’t watch it, so honestly, she wouldn’t be surprised at all if he told her no.

@novaent: A staff member leads you down NOVA’S winding hallways to Hyun Bin’s office, then opens the door and leads you inside, where the CEO awaits, sitting at his desk with his hands folded on top of it. His fingers are drumming against each other as he watches you enter. It seems as if he has been waiting for you already. Seated across from his desk, next to an empty chair, is a company lawyer whom you recognize from before; she’d been present when you signed your initial company contract. The staff member directs you to take the empty chair next to the lawyer and then leaves. You hear the door close and the latch click back into place as your CEO continues to look at you. After a moment of silence, he clears his throat and decides to speak up.

“Whenever I offer a position in this company, I am confident that this person is deserving of a spot in NOVA Entertainment and will be able to accomplish something great with our help and resources. I have high hopes for each and every one of my trainees to not give up somewhere along the path and make it until here: debut.”

“And you didn’t disappoint me. During the Supernova Project, you got your chance to show me what you are made of and made good use of it. I was able to follow your ups and downs and to watch you grow from every experience throughout your training and this project. You showed me that you are deserving of this spot in AND*ROMA. You had to wait a bit longer for things to come together, but it’s finally here.” He trails off, and diverts his attention to his desk, where he pulls a manila folder from a pile on the edge of his desk and sets it down in front of you. “This here,” he says, opening the folder to reveal a single sheet of paper, “is a contract exclusive to AND*ROMA and will tie you to this group, and to NOVA Entertainment, for the next six years.” 

“Hard work doesn’t stop after debut. It only begins.” There’s a hint of a smile on his lips as he hands you a pen. “But if you are ready to do so and want to become a part of the top new girl group of Korea with my help, you know what to do.”

it’s hard for solji to imagine that she’s spent two years in this place. sometimes she wonders if it’s two years too long, but she supposes that, all things considering, she’s made it out of the dungeon sooner than most. however, there is a part of her that worries about her debut. while she had done well on supernova project and felt confident in her ability to continue succeeding as a member of and*roma, she didn’t quite have the fanbase that some of the other members did and it worried her a bit. would she just be the forgotten member? there was always that forgotten member in a group, and solji just didn’t want her to be it. it also didn’t help that she was the oldest, though perhaps her taller physique would help people to remember who she was.

nonetheless, it was too late to back out now. she had made it this far and it would be silly of her to not sign the contract. “thank you for the opportunities, sajangnim,” she bowed her head politely as she lifted the pen and moved it to the sheet to sign it. she inhaled and exhaled sharply, the ink bleeding through the page. six years though. at twenty-six now, that’d put her at thirty-two. she wondered could she really survive those six years. it didn’t matter though for now. she would do her best.

once she had finished signing, she looked up at hyun bin and smiled widely. “thank you again for entrusting me to be a part of this group,” she noted, her eyes glittering happily. “i assure you that i won’t disappoint you. i will be a heo solji who you can be extremely proud of.” she gave him a deeper bow, wishing to shake his hand but figuring that might be overstepping some boundaries. “thank you again, sajangnim. i’ll see you at our debut then.” she didn’t know if that last part was true ( whether she would see him there ), but she just liked the sound of that.

OOC NOTE: First of all, congratulations to arriving at the final step before debut! I know it’s been a long and crazy journey, and I’m so glad you’ve stuck through it. When you are ready, feel free to post this prompt with Solji’s response to it.

Should Solji choose to SIGN the AND*ROMA contract, she will be employed by NOVA Entertainment without a need to renew a contract until the duration of this one has concluded. As a reward for making it this far, she will receive THREE WEEKENDS unpaid vacation time to use any time between now and the end of January, so long as it doesn’t clash with any special debut activities (such as music show appearances, meaning she can’t actually use her vacation time until after her music show performances have finished.)

Should she choose to REJECT this contract with NOVA and AND*ROMA, she will leave the company, effective immediately upon rejection. She will be able to keep all of her debut points, but will not be able to take any trainee workshops or earn any more debut points/workshop points until she becomes a trainee again. She will not have any special advantage over newer characters when she auditions for other companies in the future, and should she become a trainee at a new company she will be considered a junior trainee all over again, even though she will still have her debut points and would be eligible for debut right away. She WILL have the right to audition for NOVA again, but the fact that she gave up a contract renewal, especially a debut one, WILL be taken into account in final casting decisions.

She will have up to one week to make her decision IC, meaning that if he does not make a decision by October 26th, she will automatically be cut from the company. Exceptions can be made for those on hiatus.

chaeyoung glances down and touches the strands of her hair. in a matter of hours, she would have extensions and while she wished it was her actual hair instead, she can only hope that after their debut that she could go back to having a shorter hairstyle. sighing to herself, she listens before looking at solji. in her mind, she tries to imagine her with different hair colors before coming to the conclusion that blonde was already best for her. “i think they should have too. it would have been easier for them to give you a different color now that your hair is already bleached.” she states out loud while knowing from prior experience that changing hair colors could be a nightmare if it is not done correctly.

listening to solji’s words, chaeyoung wonders what is the worst hairstyle that they could give her. there were plenty that she hadn’t tried yet, but she can only hope that they wouldn’t want her to dye her hair as much like other idols who seem to have a different color practically every comeback. “mhmm, you’re right. everyone has a different opinion about that.” she agreed with the other before seeing that it was close to it being their turn. “the one benefit we get out of all of this is that we get to relax a bit. if we’re doing this today, that means that our debut date is coming soon too. once that happens, we’ll be so busy that we will miss times like this when we can relax and not worry about performing.”

solji sighed softly, already missing her blonde hair even though it wasn’t even completely gone yet. however, she knew that, at the end of this session, she would be back to black. or brown? what color had they chosen for her anyway? “yeah, i guess i’m just surprised they didn’t take advantage of it.” she shrugged her shoulders and looked to the other. “hopefully, one day, i’ll be able to go back to blonde.” had she already said that? maybe, but it’s just that she really did fall in love with the color this time around.

“true, since the ones with colors that are lighter would be more sensitive to the passing time, right?” did her words make any sense? for example, to stay blonde and have it look good for the comeback, they needed to make sure their roots didn’t start to show by then. otherwise, it could look sloppy, unless that was the look that they would be going for. “and i guess, as for us, we won’t need to go in for constant touch-ups since our hair is already so dark,” she pointed out with a chuckle.

“mhmm, almost as if… everything is so professional? the photographer takes pictures here and there and then once one of us is done, it’s the next person and so on. it’s almost as if we’re taking our school id photos but with a different setting and attire.” chaeyoung explains as she begins to wonder herself whether working at interstellar had changed her views about photoshoots. she misses the dynamics with the employees — the times when she could joke around and compliment the models and photographers for doing such a good job.

sighing to herself, she takes a quick glance at the set and then back at solji. “they probably will let us model in the future. i’ve heard that even some of the idols from the companies were offered modeling contracts.” she says out loud, wondering if she would get any. while musicals and acting were more of her forte, chaeyoung felt that she needed to branch out as well. “i’m so glad that we aren’t even in the practice rooms. i feel like i stay in the practice rooms more than in the dorms.” she laughs loudly for she knew that this was basically their life now. they had to keep practicing until it was time for them to debut.

solji nodded her head. now that the other mentioned it, it did have that sort of vibe. it felt very ... transactional, in some ways. “yeah, it almost takes out the human aspect to it,” she noted. maybe that was a bit extreme to put it that way, but it just felt a little like they were props. never mind, her own analogy was making less sense in her head, so she stopped the thoughts before they felt the need to keep going. 

“oh?” her head tilted in curiosity. “that would be nice,” she exclaimed. the more she thought about it, the more she really did enjoy that. a pout formed on her face as she sighed. “anyway, yeah, i’m getting a tad bit tired of those practice rooms.” two years of being at nova was coming up. was all her time there really worth it? she could only hope so. it was a thought that continued to whir around in her mind, whether the sacrifices and the time that she put in had really been something she should have done.
