genius American painter who makes the landscapes of this country look new again. these landscapes that i see all the time, that don’t look like anything new or special to me until i see them captured in the same grand medium that made trees look important in the 18th and 19th centuries. proof that painting still matters and can teach us how to see what might be so obvious or suppooseldy ‘better captured’ in 21st century technology.
