These are designs I made for a Christmas mod for Cool Kid Cody. It's still a work in progress, the plan was to release it in time for the holidays, but I ended up really busy. My hope is to make it great!

Primary question: Would you read or watch stuff analyzing your art, and if so, how would (or has) that affect your future artwork.

Secondary question: Have you ever researched deeply into a topic (e.g. History, Science, Programming, etc) for any of your stories so far and would you intend to do it in the future?

For fun question: Does Juvie actually know how to play the drums they have in their room (even if they're likely a bit rusty) or do they just hit the drums wildly with careless regard?

question 1: i sometimes read/watch analyses/playthroughs but it really depends on my mood. some days i don't want to feel like i'm under a microscope, but on a good day i really enjoy hearing what people have to say about our games! people have SUUUCH cool takes/theories/ideas, and i feel so validated when small design details get noticed. like when people notice the design similarities between cody, mini and their family, or character arc parallels/self referential humor/etc. also sometimes people have way better ideas than me and i want to absorb that lol.

in terms of how analyses affect my work, i think overall they give me an idea of how my art is being interpreted/misinterpreted, and how i can better design things going forward (which is why i should watch 'em/read reviews way more than i actually do ahahah).

question 2: yes, not so much for the pa series but for ckc i did a lot of research, usually on the topic of representation of disabilities/ethnicities/etc. topics like psychology, relational therapy and politics, are some random interests of mine that bled into ckc, but weren't like strictly researched just for the sake of the game. i've done much more directed research for our future project (co-pilot), mostly because there's a lot of sci-fi tech and physics involved.

fun question: juvie plays the drums like they're trying to kill the drums. if in a situation where they have to flex on a bandmate/impress their girlfriend, they'll lock in and play somewhat properly, but they'd probably need a lot of lessons and practice to be considered good. thankfully, their dad promised to give them a lesson as soon as he got back from getting milk.

This is why I don't believe in my parents' religion. Even if what they say is true (which it isn't), whatever God gave me a chance to live here. I'm gonna spend it how I want.

Because I'm thinking about it, "tithing" is absolutely bs. I shouldn't be forced to donate to my church when I'm broke and barely paying what I need to to live (this is an exaggeration, but not for many people). There are people who simply cannot afford to pay a corporation that already has tons of money 10% of your income (which is A LOT). Say I'm making 10k over x amount of time, I have to pay this already extremely rich company $1,000 for simply existing and living a belief. And for what? "Blessings"? I've heard that tithing isn't about the money, it's about the act of showing you will sacrifice what you have for what you believe in. I don't care what blessings that brings, I have rent to pay. Or I don't get to live because this company is actively burning a hole in my wallet. And I say company and corporation because it is. Maybe not your religion, but most are, including my parents'. They're a part of the LDS church, many people know them as Mormons. As much as I don't believe in their religion, I still have respect for people's beliefs and will address it properly as LDS.

I have other problems with that religion, but I don't feel like getting into them right now.

Though, as an aside, the LDS belief seems to cut more slack than others. Also, they do not believe in polygamy. That gets thrown out a lot but it's not true. It's like saying because Abraham had multiple wives or some shit that all Christians believe in polygamy.

I said this a couple years ago (one year ago?) and most of the comments on tumblr actually did not know this, so to reiterate what you’re up against: a VERY mainstream belief among American Christian fundamentalists is that they are the only ones who experience love. They raise their kids to think that everyone “living in sin” (all other faiths, atheists, and LGBT people) goes through life sad and empty, falsely believing they know what love feels like, and will never know until they’re “saved.” It’s not as simple as them diminishing the humanity of others out of hate, but being deeply brainwashed to believe others are automatically mentally less human. They are also very good at convincing new converts that they really are experiencing this “real” love for the “first time;” the same way members of all cults can become wholeheartedly convinced that they’re receiving psychic alien messages or communing with spirits. Cult conditioning is simply that powerful.

I don't think kingdom hearts fans pay enough attention to the fact that in kh1 Sora literally kills himself ON SCREEN as Donald Duck and G. G. "Goofy" Goof beg him not to do it. He gives a strained fucking smile, stabs himself with a massive pointed weapon, actually literally DIES, and this happens in the same game universe as the winnie the pooh swing minigame

A Vexen character detail I find really interesting is that once the replicas have an established identity, he refers to them with the correct pronouns, instead of as an it. He doesn’t always treat them well, as he still lacks a heart, but he does see them as more than  objects. And that’s more than you can say for some of the other Org members, such as Saix and Marluxia, who do talk about them as if they were nothing more than tools. Vexen actually isn’t the only one who does this too! as Zexion does so as well.

It’s especially interesting with Xion as I’m pretty sure she hadn’t formed an identity before he left for Castle Oblivion, so he wouldn’t have known that even if he had read his notes. My headcanon is that him knowing that Xion’s a girl is from some familial heart link. As you can tell I’m a sucker for sweet Even/Vexen and his family content. I would love to see something that actually looked at them as father and daughter. Sorry about the ramble, this was a thing I’ve been thinking about after replays and wanted to get out

I saw this on Twitter the other day and it infuriates me to no end. Obviously this is something that's been hammered through the Earth, but I feel like ranting.

First of all, this is nothing against trans people. Lots of my friends are trans, I have no problem with it and support them fully.

Now that that's out of the way, Chihiro being trans is the exact flipping (are swears allowed on Tumblr? Eh, I'll worry about it later) opposite of his character arc. CHIHIRO WANTS TO BE A MAN. THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON HE DIED!

Chihiro is biologically male. However, his interests were more feminine than most men. Which is fine. He got bullied though, and he couldn't find a way to end it. Rather than being called a "girly girl" or whatever Japanese elementary school students bully people with, Chihiro instead decides to play the part and crossdresses. But he always intended to be a man.

When Monokuma's motive was to reveal everyone's secret, Chihiro's secret was that he's a guy. When he realized people would find out his secret, he decided it was finally time for him to become stronger and "play the part of a man" (I put that in quotes since I don't really know a better way to phrase that and I'm not trying to offend anyone).

So he talks to Mondo, and says that he wants to train with him and be manly man. But because Chihiro's resolve was stronger than Mondo's, and he couldn't handle that, so he lashed out and killed him.

Chihiro's goal was to be a man again, not to be trans. I wouldn't even say he's an egg, maybe in the beginning, but by the time he was killed, he had resolved to be a man again.
