i saw a comment on the official upload of hammer of justice from someone talking about how gerson had been their favorite undertale character for YEARS, and how happy they were that he was finally being appreciated. i'm happy for them, but i also cannot even begin to comprehend how insane things must be from their perspective.
imagine your favorite character from a game is a semi-obscure glup shitto type that has some interesting lore tidbits, but not enough for people to talk about him at length compared to more popular characters. he says some cool stuff and is involved in one of the main characters' backstory, but that's about it.
then a spiritual successor slash sequel slash Thing comes out that takes place in some sort of alternate timeline, and your favorite character is dead in it. there's some info about him scattered throughout the first three chapters, but that's it. damn. that sucks.
then all of the sudden, out of nowhere, chapter four comes out. not only does your favorite character appear again, but he is not only INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT to the chapter's story, but is also THE CHAPTER'S SECRET BOSS. your glup shitto is now a JEVIL AND SPAMTON TIER CHARACTER. not only are people finally talking about him, they're hyping him up to be the single strongest character in the game, which considering the fact that he helps you take out a TITAN, isn't even that absurd of a concept. "I'M OLD!" has effectively become chapter four's "Kris Get The Banana". it is very likely that there has been more art of gerson boom drawn in the month since chapter four's release than there has been for as long as undertale has existed. in the span of 24 hours, your random, kind of obscure favorite guy has not only become EXTREMELY popular, but is being worshiped like a living legend. which is really funny because he's still technically dead.
imagine being that guy. i wouldn't know what to do with myself. i may have encountered the single most vindicated person in human history.

Short Story of Natalia
Translation commissioned by @somacruising. From the Character Episode Bible. By Miyajima Takumi.
Short Story of Natalia
Written by Miyajima Takumi.
She could not believe that she was hearing such a statement.
"Wait. There is no need to obey the orders of a false princess."
Kimlasca-Lanvaldear comprised half of the world. These are not words to be spoken to the princess of that great kingdom. Natalia's pride as a princess lit the fuse of her anger.
"How dare you! Even a Grand Maestro cannot speak of me in such a manner! To insult me is to insult the Kingdom of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear!"
The world has been thrust into war. The instigator of this situation, even boldly reveling in it, was none other than the man mocking Natalia in this moment: Mohs, the Grand Maestro of the Order of Lorelei. Natalia and the others had arrived in Chesedonia, where the commander-in-chief of the Kimlascan army was, to call for an immediate ceasefire, and there they ran into Mohs. His words seemed nothing more than a meaningless joke meant to protect the path to war of which he was the very architect.
What further meaning could this possibly have?
But Mohs just looked at Natalia as if she were truly below him.
This had never happened before. To go against the words of Natalia, the princess, was to go against the kingdom. Natalia held that great a responsibility for any of her official statements, and it was for this reason that people followed her. There were only three people in this world who did not have to bow down to Natalia. The leader of the Order of Lorelei, the emperor of the Malkuth Empire, and her father, the King of Kimlasca. Despite this, the insolent Grand Maestro Mohs spoke calmly and without any remorse.
"For some time, I have received the sorrowful confessions of a certain pious believer. It appears the daughter that he fathered with an attendant to the Queen was substituted for Her Highness the Princess."
"That's a lie!"
Mohs paid no heed to Luke’s attempt to interrupt.
"No, it's not. Look at her eyes. Her hair. From time immemorial, the royal family of Lanvaldear has had red hair and green eyes. But this woman's hair is gold. And the late Queen had hair as black as night."
At the end of his sentence, Mohs launched another piercing glare at Natalia.
At that moment, everyone present focused their gaze on Natalia.
Natalia's blonde hair.
Natalia unconsciously reached out to touch her own hair.
Her blonde hair and blue eyes.
Countless times she had looked in the mirror, and each time hated her appearance more and more.
Why wasn't she born with red hair and green eyes?
Natalia had always asked that question.
Asked her father, her mother, her wet nurse, and her fiancé, Luke.
If she had at least been born with black hair like her mother, Natalia wouldn't have had to worry. In the past, there were members of the royal family who did not have red hair and green eyes. They would either marry a member of the royal family who did and retain their right to the throne, or they would lose their right to the throne and live as a noble. Natalia could do the same. --If only she didn't have this combination of hair and eyes.
In fact, ever since Natalia was born, there was a rumor at court.
That Natalia might be an illegitimate child.
It is true that Natalia's appearance does not resemble either of her parents.
Ingobert brought up the fact that his mother had blonde hair and said that Natalia must have resembled her grandmother, and on the surface the nobles went along with his reasoning, but how many people sincerely believed it? In reality, rumors of infidelity continued to simmer under the surface at court, and the queen suffered for a long time because of those rumors. It was even speculated that the queen’s early death was due to those rumors.
Natalia, of course, did not believe such rumors. She could not imagine the mother she respected committing adultery, and she felt that, as her father had said, the portrait of her grandmother resembled her well enough.
The rumors had arisen because of her appearance, and continued because of her insufficient quality as a member of the royal family; this was the conclusion Natalia drew. All the more reason for Natalia to never relent in her efforts. Her fiancé Luke, whom she respected and cared about, encouraged her, saying that indeed, he believed her efforts could eradicate the rumors. If her looks did not lead the people to see her as royalty, she should simply mold everything else to befit a member of the family that rules Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. After all, the blue blood of royalty flows through her veins.
And in fact, for the past few years, any voices to the effect that Natalia was an illegitimate child were no longer heard. Natalia had worked hard enough and dispelled those silly rumors.
Now all her efforts had been overturned…
The unrest this would cause was far beyond the scandal if she had merely been an illegitimate child. As a child with neither of the parents' blood, she would have no connection to the royal family at all. This was a reality that Natalia found difficult to accept.
No matter what silly rumors were spread, no matter how much she was slandered, it was because she believed she was a member of royalty that Natalia was able to keep moving forward, hold her head up high, and remain resolute.
This support, the foundation for her entire self, crumbled leaving her nothing to stand on.
"I've informed His Majesty about this matter as well. If you go to Baticul, His Majesty will punish you for conspiring against the Kingdom!"
Mohs declared triumphantly. Natalia desperately tried to find the strength for her body to not collapse to the ground.
“That's impossible... That can't be true…”
There was no such thing as a person without royal blood who was a princess.
What was the point of the 18 years she spent working hard, believing she was a princess?
What of the memories of her father Ingobert kindly watching over her through all that time?
(Father...! Is this true? I wanted to be someone you would not be ashamed of as your daughter and as a princess... But... if I was not really a princess, would that mean I had wasted my efforts and deceived the people of our kingdom?)
If that were truly the case, then how guilty she would feel; how foolish she had been.
The moment she thought this, it dawned on Natalia that all her efforts at playing the part of royalty were founded on her baseless confidence in her royal heritage.
Even when she was under suspicion of being an illegitimate child, Natalia never wavered for even a moment in her confidence that "I am a princess". That was how she was able to put forth her utmost efforts. And her father had supported her with unconditional love.
If she lost that truth of being a princess, Natalia would have nothing left. Everything would be taken away from her.
Her father's love, the people she loved, and her own pride in herself.
She was no longer Princess Natalia, but just Natalia… and in that moment, a familiar voice echoed in her mind.
"Some day, when we're grown up, let's change this country. Change it so that no one has to be poor. Change it so that war never happens. Let's work to change our country. For the rest of our lives. Together."
When they were little, Luke had -- he now went by the name Asch -- told Natalia this. So many times, when Natalia was about to give up, she got the support she needed from these words.
But now they seem far away.
(Do I not so much as have the right to be by your side...?)
Even so, Natalia had no choice but to reminisce on those words for support.
She believes in the fact that Luke, who gave her those words, chose Natalia of his own will, not just because their parents decided for them. If she doesn't do so, Natalia will not be able to take a single step forward from this place.
Maybe Natalia is not a princess.
Even if that is the case, the reason he chose her may not have been because she was a princess.
Natalia was hoping for something she had never so much as thought of before.
That there was also a place for a Natalia, who is not a princess.
And hopefully that place could be next to him.

"there's a guy in the walls" movies exist in a universe that I fucking WISH was real. imagine how easy it would be to install stuff in walls if the space behind a wall was not 3.5 inches/8.9 cm deep and I could get my whole self in there. of course that would mean a guy could get in there too, but what are the odds.

Please, Tumblr folks, do not sleep on the Leviathan anime that comes out tomorrow. Netflix have done absolutely nothing to promote it - there hasn't even been a proper trailer released.
It's based on a WONDERFUL series of books by Scott Westerfeld, and is fit to burst with alternate history, steampunk aesthetics, queer romance, mech suits, bio-engineered creatures, including a flying whale, plus it has music by Joe Hisaishi. It was created in direct collaboration with the original author AND illustrator, Keith Thompson.
Please, give it the love it deserves 🙏
