(( Hey guys, I just wanted to apologize for being inactive this past week. A lot has happened at home, and I haven't been in the right state to do anything. I'm getting better, and I hope by the end of the week, if not sooner, that I'll reply to everything I owe. ))

Hearing the young baby coo, a smile emerged from her dirty face, though it was quick to recede. “Mhm. I wish there were moments that we didn’t have to experience, and somehow go back and save some of the others from... you know.” A simple wish, yet it was already obvious that it would never come true. Her eyes glanced back towards the ground, staring blankly at the frozen ground. “It would be wonderful if this could happen more often, and we can just pretend, even for a short time, that maybe the world isn’t as bad as it is.”

Truth be told, he was somewhat fatigued, but didn’t want to slow them down. The bundle of baby in his arms cooed, making his head fall to look at him; it was almost like the child was agreeing with their decision. “Yeah… I get that. I don’t think I’ll ever be able t’ forget some’a the shit we’ve seen… It’s good t’be able to take it easy– even for a little bit.” He wanted to promise that she wouldn’t lose either of them, but he couldn’t, in this world.

“Good.” Clem told him quietly, beginning to relax, even if it wasn’t by much. “I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you.” She mumbled, barely audible.

Lee heard what the little girl said and simply nodded. “Yeah, ain’t nothing going to happen to me.”

“O-okay.” His last sentence haunted her. She didn’t want him to go out of his way just to make her safety his number one priority. “You’ll be safe too, right?”

“I wouldn’t let it come to that.” Lee thought for a moment or two. “We’ll be smarter than them. We won’t go down if I have anything to do with it.”

Apologies for not being on yesterday. I had to study for my AP Gov test that is today. Honestly I’m still not ready for it. xD

I think I am going to call it a night. With the recent news, my mood has dropped. I’m going to go get ready for bed, I’ll mainly be lurking.

I just wanted to take the time to make this post dedicated to a YouTuber known as Caleb Logan Bratayley. He passed away due to an unknown/undetected medical condition on October 1st. Within the YouTube community, it has hit everyone hard. My condolences go out to the Bratayley family, and wish them the best. Rest in peace, Caleb, you will be greatly missed.

“What if something does happen to us?” She shakily asked, wondering how much longer they would suffer. These negative thoughts continued to flood her once, innocent mind. “I know I shouldn’t think like this, but we’ve lost so many, and... and what if what happened to them, happens to us? I’m scared that one day we could separated, or worse. I don’t want that, Lee.”

“It was sad for him as well. He had to witness his best friend get eaten. It hadn’t even been a month since he was lost Carley, the woman he was quite fond of. Pain like this didn’t go away easily. His attention was brought back to the girl. “What scares you, sweet pea?” He asked, having an idea of what might be on her mind.

Lifting her head so there was a small gap, she raised a single hand to wipe her eyes. They ached from the small amount of crying, and most likely have reddened. Clementine returned her head to his body, continuing to hold onto him. There was something different about this moment, different from all the others. She truly realized it was just them against the world. It felt so empty. She missed the others, and her parents. She never got to say a proper goodbye to any of them. With it just being them, would they even be able to survive? Water and food supplies were always low, and she was well aware that there could be a time when it is impossible to live on. She never wanted to believe the world could be such a dark, and evil place, though mass extinction was among them. People had become vultures, killing others just to gain what they had. It was truly disgusting. Back when Lee had found her, she was grateful. If he never came, would she still have been alive now?

Despite her best attempt to hold her emotions in, the tears continued to flow. She had become frightened. What were they going to do? “Lee, I’m scared.” Her voice was raised, the fear present in her speech. Clementine had been so strong up until this point. She felt so weak, and blind to her surroundings; how idiotic she felt for believing in a peaceful world. Where was the good ending, the Happily Ever After she read about in fairy tales? When would they wake from the awful nightmare if they were all just dreaming? Though if it was a dream, she would have never met anyone, including Lee. What would her world have been like without him present in her life? The idea scared her even more. She cared for him, more than she ever believed since the very first day. He was all she had, her only family. It was them against all odds.

Lee simply nodded at what the little girl said even though her request was very much impossible. Bug he hugged tighter. “I promise.” He said, he had no intention on dying and leaving her in this world alone.

The poor girl continued to hold onto the older male, suddenly afraid of letting go. Just even getting the slight image of her without him made her sobs more profound. Listening to his voice, she nodded slowly into him, wanting to at least acknowledge what he had told her. “Forever.” Forever was a strong word to use, especially for the current circumstances, yet Clem would love to believe that they could be together for a long time.

Lee wrapped his arms around the little girl and patted her back. This period had been so hard on them. Kenny, Ben, Omid, Christa all seemingly gone. “I wouldn’t let you, sweetpea. We’re in this until the end.”

Clementine ran up to Lee, her arms wrapping around him quickly. They were just going to test a gun, she wasn’t expecting her eyes to water. “I’m not leaving you either.” She mumbled into the fabric, her breathing becoming uneasy as the tears were absorbed into his clothing.

“We may have lost the others, but I ain’t going no where.”

“I’m pretty sure I can. After all, I don’t think I could lose you that easily.”

He chuckled slightly for a moment or two. “Definitely. Make sure to keep up now.”

Nodding, she carefully sat down next to him. A lot had been on the girl’s mind lately, and it seemed like today was the day to speak her mind. “We’ve seen so much carnage. I’m just grateful that these past couple of days have been uneventful. I just don’t want to lose anyone else, that’s why I have to be worried.”

“Ya worry an awful lot…” The elder wished he could help ease some of it. She was much too young to be holding the world’s weight on her shoulders. “Alrigh’, darlin’. We can stop fer a li’l while.” He found a spot to rest, and moved to sit himself down.

After handing the target over, she stood up again, already prepared for their small adventure. “Lead the way, I’ll follow right behind. It will be like follow the leader.” She told him with a slight giggle.

“Thank you! ...may I come with you?” She didn’t want to inconvenience him, yet she always preferred going with him.

While she went off to do what she was doing, Lee finished fixing the gun and putting it back into place. Then he attached the silencer and looked at what she did. “That’s good, now I can test if this still works. Then done.”
