Btvs The Ted Trauma

Rewatching the episode is so painful. Everybody is just awful to buffy. The scoobies just immediately side with Ted and make buffy feel bad about being concerned. Angel bored as hell listening to her problems and couldn't wait to kiss her to shut her up and get some at the same time. And worst of all her mom. She did not take buffy seriously when she told her a grown ass man threatened her child and then he hits buffy and joyce won't even hear her out and ignores her. Leaving her child alone with the trauma of having killed a man. And the wrap-up is just them joking on the porch like nothing happened. Like that wasn't the most traumatic experience ever! She deserved so much better

Definitely a road trip.

So Angel would hear rumors about another gem of Amara and decide to pursue it. He would be off the week before the wedding. Spike "soo what are you up to gramps?" Angel would be like "nothing!" And Spike would hide in the car and just tag along. So they would hit up multiple demon bars along the way get drunk, playing kitten poker and solving the clues to get to the gem. Spike would have a blast, while Angel tries to ditch Spike at any given moment. Brooding as always. Spike thinks it's a game. A treasure hunt. In the end Spike finds the gem first and is all tearful! "thank you peaches! best gift ever" . Angel annoyed as ever not believing he lost the Gem to Spike of all people. Angel would just take them back on a random Tuesday. When they get to Revello Drive, everyone would sit around the couch, watch TV and have pizza&beer as both get home. So again Spike would be so touched with a tear in his eye "thank you pops, this was the best bachelor trip ever! And thanks for the perfect ending!" Angel would be out of his mind pissed and growling. Spike would never know none of it was ever supposed to happen!

“I have a theory!”: Okay, this is probably not the first time someone has thought about this but WHAT IF the message from the PTB to Whistler that a vampire with a soul would help Buffy stop the apocalypse was actually about Spike and not Angel? It would explain why Whistler is confused of how things turn out in Season 2 and says “it wasn’t supposed to go like this”. It would also explain why Spike and Buffy are continually drawn to each other and why she has the instinct to keep him close in Season 7. I’ve always thought that some slayer part of her sensed he had an important role to play.

So I obviously miss spike which is why I'm watching it. I seriously don't get angel. The scene he catches up to the slayer and just attacks her from the back throwing her all the way across the room and then saying I'm here to help you. Boy is he serious? Of course she'll trust you after attacking her?!

The scene in the hospital is also wild to me. How is angel still all black and white saying she's a victim when spike points out you can be both a victim and still turn into a monster. Angel in his black and white view WHILE AT THE SAME TIME WORKING FOR WOLFRAM AND HEART?! so here the grey area applies?

I am so happy about the slayer pickup, as buffy doesn't trust Angel! Finally! But again the audacity of angel to assume he knows best how to handle a tortured slayer?! Compared to... You know... Other slayers?!

Boy where do I even start. The smutty handcuff scene, buffy telling spike about her mom on the back porch when he brought the shotgun AND MOST OF ALL THE LIGHTER SCENE. HOW DOES SHE GET THE LIGHTER?!

feel like I want to start of list off missing scenes in BTVS that would’ve been fun to see. like we all know they happened from context clues or the characters referencing it - but we didn’t see it. and I very much would’ve liked to see the the scene in which Spike actually leads Buffy out of his crypt to wherever he hides his motorcycle, convinces her to ride it, and is able to get her to hold him tight as they head towards the bar. missed opportunity there.

Truly love the parallel to drusilla. Cause she's also broken and gone insane with the trauma. It shows how fragile and pure both spike and dru are. In psychology there is the idea of everything being too much to bear so the mind kinda "flees into psychosis". To me that's similar to what happens here. It is too much to bear for both of them. They cannot integrate their soft and pure innermost beings with what happened to them/what they have done so their mind creates a way to deal with it. Dru being even more broken beyond her soul that she remains affected into her unlife without a soul. Begs the question why angel is kinda sad and brooding but never goes crazy like the two.

I kinda love crazy spike in the beginning of season 7 - there’s something so haunting and captivating about how he moves first slowly then in fits and starts, how he speaks in riddles that have hidden depths but shattering honesty, how his eyes are clouded but somehow clearer than ever, how he’s blended so well by his internal and external torment into a man who’s so desperately trying to leave his creature self behind

Also how buffy CAN'T, PHYSICALLY CAN'T kill him (when he sits there and offers his chest cause he realizes he has killed people) ?! Like he can be possessed and used again by the first any minute. But she cannot be without him. As she tells him after her date with the principal. She literally killed Angel to save the world, but there is no way she can be without spike. Her love for spike is rather of the "i'll burn the world for you" variety and I am here for it!

like honestly i love that ep but specifically imma talk about buffy and spike minions' fight scene

spike who throughout most seasons is out there to kill Buffy, to add another slayer under his belt. he fails again and again, which is odd for someone who knows how to kill a slayer but we all knew he always had a soft spot for her. dru and adam knew

and obv he fell in love with her so the whole killing her is off the table. sure, he'll rough house her but like thats it. thats as far as he'll go

finally at this moment, he got her by surprise. she's held back by his minions. he's can easily kill her at this moment. but no. my guy didn't even bite her or kill her despite being a complete murderous psycho. all it took was tasting her blood for him to snap out of it

like sure its cuz he remember all the shit he did and was guilt ridden. thats why he backed off but out of all the things to do for him to remember everything. he had to taste her blood

like thats... pretty intimate. he tasted the blood of the one person whom he's trying to do good by, the one person who believes in him, the one person who he's still hopelessly in love with

These posts about first time watchers make me so happy! Like I would give anything to not know the show and go back to watch it from the start. The thrill of needing to know what happens next! Personally I binged the whole thing while sick in 2 weeks last year. I have been lost in this verse ever since (I am happy here don't help me) . So anyways, enjoy the ride!

So often the argument is that spike without a soul somehow ended up more human than angel (I REFUSE TO MAKE A DISTINCTION of angel and Angelus, they are the same) But I think this argument falls apart when we have a look at characters like holden (s7 conversations with dead people) or harmony. So yeah holden, he now enjoys the thrill of wanting to fight buffy (although he had been to a dojo when still alive). So there are instincts but although he is newly risen he is not overwhelmed by the bloodlust but he is able to have a therapy session with buffy. Next up, harmony. I think you see a little more in ats but also in btvs. She still has her interests (boys and shopping) although a bit more disinhibited (killed the clerk while happy about the discounts). She even gets herself a gang (to fight buffy) like she did in high-school. So this leads me to the conclusion that vamps rather keep their personality (or are highly altered like dru and spike who were tortured for years by angel) but are not some insane monster not at all resembling their personality as a human as some might lead you to believe..
