Society is culpable in not providing a free education for all and it must answer for the night which it produces. If the soul is left in darkness sins will be committed. The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but he who causes the darkness.
Victor Hugo, Les Misérables, 1862

i felt gaslighted my whole childhood and teenagehood because i was always told that i was smart and that it was easy for me, etc.. but always felt like i was dumb and that everything was hard and each time i tried to talk about it i was dismissed and was told that i just need to work harder and that i just had bad self esteem and that i could so much things if i only just my mind into it and that it was my fault for not doing the effort. it felt like they were living in a different reality than mine

productions of hamlet almost always say “no ❤️“ to the pirate scene (which, fucking wild there pirates, that’s awesome), I propose, to fix this injustice, they make a version of hamlet that is Only Pirates. I think that would be very sexy and so would shakespeare.

Hello, everyone! We’re back! I know it’s been a few years, but hopefully there’s still some interest. ^_^
Announcing…
Ace Mis Week!
Ace Mis Week will run from February 13th to February 19th this year (2022). All types fanworks are welcome. All characters are welcome. The only rule is that your fanwork must star a Les Mis character who is asexual (either by canon or headcanon). I will be tracking the tag #ace mis week, but we all know how unreliable tags are these days. So if you really want me to find your post (and thus reblog it), please @ the acemisweek blog.
And now for the more detailed answers:
What kind of things can I create for this week?
Whatever your heart desires to create, as long as an asexual Les Mis character (canon, headcanon, or otherwise) plays a starring role, anything else can fly. ^_^
Gen works are welcome. Ship works are welcome (platonic or romantic). Friend-ship works are welcome.
All genres are welcome – action, sci-fi, romance, comedy, modern day, canon era, some other AU entirely, angst or fluff or something in between – it’s all good.
All fanworks are welcome: fanfiction, fanart, photosets, gifsets, fanmixes, polyvore sets, cosplay, moodboards, aesthetic posts – you name the medium, it’s welcome.
A note on ratings: Asexuality is a spectrum. All parts of that spectrum are welcome, and asexuality does not have to mean celibate, therefore any rating is welcome.
A question about aromanticism:
There is often a lot of overlap between asexual and aromantic characters, and thus there has been a staggering amount of discourse engaged in over whether they should be lumped together or have their own spaces. Personally, I have no problem with you creating fanworks about aromantic characters, and furthermore, I have absolutely no intention of policing this in any way for this week. That’s way above my paygrade. I’m just going to take it on faith that if you’ve tagged it #ace mis week, then it belongs and I will reblog it. Hopefully everyone is ok with that. ^_^

no bc the les mis fandom in no small part helped me to find out that i'm asexual (we love the ace enjolras representation) and i'm feeling extra grateful for that today ❤

i 100% blame the les mis fandom for my ridiculously high romantic standards. like no matter your gender, if you're not: as kind as Cosette, as passionate as Enjolras, as open minded as Combeferre, as warm as Courfeyrac, as humble as Feuilly, as bold as Bahorel, as creative as Jehan, as caring as Joly, and as spontaneous as Bossuet, it ain't gonna work buckaroo
