Sonic sped through the rehabilitated zone, seeking out the stray Badniks hiding there. Upon encounter, he swiftly smashed each one open with a simple Spin Attack, releasing the small animal cooped up inside. "Entrance is that way. Your buddies are waiting for you." After getting their bearings, the tiny creatures headed off in the direction Sonic pointed them. A second later, Sonic was back on his way.

Though focused on his mission, he couldn't help but marvel at the ubiquitous greenery in the old Chemical Plant. "They really fixed this place up nice. I oughta come back on a day when we're not hunting Eggman... Looks like a lot of fun!"

Meanwhile, Tails was leading Amy down an interior corridor, having located the building which formerly housed Eggman's control hub. "There's still a bunch of interfaces left behind from when he ran the place... I just need to find one that looks like it's been accessed recently... There!" Tails stopped in front of a large monitor, beneath which was an active keyboard, both lit up. Tails took out his Miles Electric and began scanning the keys, determining an access code from their use. "Once I can get past the security measures, I can start downloading any recently accessed data onto my device."

Amy tapped her hammer lightly against the floor, watching Tails working away. "This looks like it's going to take a while." Tails nodded. "Depending on the amount of data and the size of the files... Yeah." Amy looked around the room, noticing a nearby corridor leading off into a dimly lit area. Staring off down the hallway, she could hear a sound coming from the other end, a deep mechanical droning accompanied by the sound of rushing water.

"There's something going on down there, something more than just Badniks. Tails, I'll leave you to your work. I've gotta check this out."

Amy watched the green landscape sweeping past her as Tails carried her in a long aerial dash toward the abandoned Chemical Plant. Soon, the metal towers were within sight, and Tails slowed down to seek out an open space for him to land. However, as he drew close to the structures, he couldn't help but notice...

"Did someone... do something... to this place? It's so... clean!"

Amy nodded as Tails carefully descended into a courtyard surrounded by vibrant greenery, a marked path leading toward the metal structures which marked the entrance to the Zone. Not only was there an unusual abundance of plants and nature in the areas once polluted with Eggman's experimental chemicals, but it appeared that even the towers and chutes had been renovated and restored with brightly colored paints.

"Sonic told me what he had seen when we were visiting the Oil Ocean Zone. Everyone on Westside Island has been working hard to restore the land to what it looked like before Eggman took over and started building factories everywhere. They're still far from being done, but everything certainly looks a lot cleaner from what Sonic remembered the last time he was here."

She looked up at the gleaming towers, hearing the faint sound of flowing water in the distance. Tails, catching his breath and resting his tails, sat down on a nearby park bench.

"Yeah... It looks like they turned this place... into some kind of water park."

The sound of a distant explosion caught their attention. Turning to look at the entrance area, they saw Sonic arrive, skidding to a halt and kicking up a small cloud of dust. He turned toward the two with a stern look on his face.

"Lots of badniks here. ...Well, not so much since I got started. Each one had an animal trapped inside it. Eggman's definitely up to something here."

Amy drew her hammer, resting the handle against her shoulder.

"We'll help investigate, then. Once Tails gets rested up, we'll check around to see if there's any signs of what Eggman's been doing here."

Sonic nodded, giving Tails a quick glance to ensure that he was okay. He then took off back into the Zone, dashing up along the metal structures as he explored the higher reaches of the factory-turned-waterpark.

Amy turned to Tails, who gave her an acknowledging nod, lifting up his Miles Electric for her to see.

"Somewhere in the old plant, there was a control room with access to a database. I should be able to find something there."

Sonic caught the exhausted fox as he finally descended toward the platform, holding him up lest he fall over. "Looks like you were in an awful big hurry, bud. Something happening?"

Tails took a moment to catch his breath before responding. "The Flicky... told me... His friends, they're disappearing... He thinks... they're being captured...!"

Sonic looked up at the circling Flicky, frowning as he listened to its worried chirping. "Sure sounds familiar, doesn't it? Where did this happen?"

"Around the old Chemical Plant... but..."

Before Tails could finish, Sonic was gone, a cloud of dust and a small scorch mark on the metal platform left behind. Amy ran up to Tails, steadying him as the Flicky descended, perching on her shoulder.

"I've gotcha, Tails."

"Thanks, Amy... Sonic doesn't know what the Flicky saw when it tried to find his friends at the Plant... We need to get there quickly and let him know!"

"Right! ...But how can we get there in time? You're too tired to fly..."

"It's alright... I... think I've got enough energy left. Here, hold on tight..."

Amy took Tails's hands, and he spun his tails, lifting them over the platform and across the open waterway toward the mainland.
