Ghetsis’s speeches in French and Spanish

i already posted this on Twitter but i wanted to post this here too because it’s so fascinating. Ghetsis’s speech in French is very tonally different than English. i tried to translate both of the speeches as closely as i could.

under a read more because this is long. Also, i included links to “The Plan” so you can hear pieces of each speech spoken out loud.

As a reminder here is is in English:

“The Plan”

French:

“Listen, listen to me well! My name is Ghetsis! Ghetsis, of Team Plasma! I’ve come to bring to you good news, that of the liberation of Pokémon! We humans have always lived side-by-side with Pokémon. In the name of a mutual and understood partnership, a mutual and indispensable aid… At least, that’s what the vast number of people think. But I am telling you, those people are mistaken, in denial… LYING!!! Think about it… People like to lazily wallow in certainties. Haven’t you ever questioned those certainties? The worst are the trainers. They enslave their Pokémon, exhaust them with orders! These poor creatures, their so-called partners, are their serfs, malleable and exploited at will! like dude….. dude. his DECLARATION at the beginning. he is bringing you The Good News. He dares you to tell him he’s wrong. No—You are the one that is wrong. You live in a lie. that is what he is saying here. And then the way that he ends his speech with “peace be with you”….. do i even need to comment on this.

on one hand i do kinda like co-op in pokemas and its a shame how rare it is to actually get co-op events but on the other hand i feel a little sheepish showing up like Hi my name is vivi. this is my ghetsis. #myghetsis. the title badge that shows up under my username in the lobby is ghetsis fan #myghetsis. favorite sync pair is ghetsis & kyurem. yeah i guess i kinda like ghetsis. i hope we all have fun battling together im putting ghetsis on the field i bet you didnt see that one coming. #myghetsis
