been a while

goddamn this story is so fucking large and convoluted i will really have to make 4 maybe 5 sets of allegiances huh

i also wanna redo the current allegiances but we’ll see

i’ve only really talked about ‘arc 1′ and a little bit of ‘arc 2′ on this blog bc i haven’t decided if i want to keep it all on one blog or make another sister blog to contain arc 3 and 4. leaning towards a sister blog tho (if you have a preference lmk). anyway to summarize:

arc 1: deals with the journey cats’ backstories, then foxstar and duskstar ally to chase away/kill half-clan cats and their parents. prophecy cats go on journey to save what clanmates they can find and stop foxstar and duskstar.

arc 2: each journey cat eventually becomes leader/deputy of their respective clan but there’s still a lot of recovery to do, especially in thunderclan and riverclan who were hit hardest by division. also includes the war between shadowclan and windclan. skyclan just vibes lmao.

arc 3, concurrent with arc 2: the cats that weren’t found band together and journey far far north, away from fox and dusk’s hatred. some rogues, loners, and kittypets join them on the way. they are led by a skyclan tom named moonchaser. after moonchaser’s heroic but untimely death, the cats split into 4 groups: PineClan living in the conifer forest, MountainClan living on the rocky slopes, ValeClan living in the valley, and CavernClan living in the tunnels underneath. pineshade, bearfang, salmonsplash, and rooksnap become pinestar, mountainstar, valestar, and cavernstar, respectively.

the northern territories are extremely harsh and the clans struggle so starclan comes up with a solution: moonchaser’s soul would be split into four and continuously reincarnated into a guardian for each clan, granted strength and wisdom beyond that of a normal cat’s. surely this is what moonchaser wanted and will cause no further problems in the future!

arc 4: even farther in the future. the pineclan guardian ravenkit is born, but he has a sister called pantherkit (these cats have never had siblings before). ravenwatcher grows up normally while pantherclaw is treated like shit for existing. she blames her brother and the two grow estranged. turns out, pantherclaw had the same abilities as her brother all along, but it’s not discovered until she sacrifices herself to save two kits from a fox. she is given a hero’s burial, but this leads to the question: what’s going on with starclan? the next guardian, ravenwatcher’s grandson nightstep, is left to figure this out.

Born to uncertain parents and taken into RiverClan as a newborn, Stormfrost struggled to find a place in his Clan outside of his adoptive family. He takes an interest in medicine and trains under another former rogue, but in troubled times for the Clans he still feels unwelcome. More and more strongly he feels drawn across the lake to SkyClan, where his only friends reside, and before long he may find the chance to finally join them. However, his adopted brother is not the cat Stormfrost thought he was, and the truth about his birth is told from the one he least expected. Soon enough, the young medicine cat may have more on his plate to deal with than relationship troubles...

big ears and long snout

mostly sleek but has some scruff on his neck, rump, and tail

father was a windclan warrior and his mother was a loner. nala got pregnant and was due to give birth in leafbare, but rather than stay with her mate she left him and fled far away to have her kit. sparrowfall does not know of his existence, but was heartbroken when his mate never returned. she ended up on shadowclan territory, her son being the only kitten in the litter. however, the snow began to fall, and she died of the cold wrapped protectively around her only son.

a shadowclan hunting patrol found the little kit barely alive. ashfall carried the kitten back to camp while flarescar and owlheart stayed behind to give nala a proper burial. sootwhisker, the shadowclan deputy and ashfall’s sister, happened to also have newborn kits (about a week old), so she took the little kit in and raised him as her own. she named him beekit for his dark stripes, but it took a lot of hard work by the medicine cat to ensure his survival. he was weak and sickly for the first few weeks of his life, but eventually he regained enough strength to be a normal kit. he was apprenticed to his uncle and the cat who saved his life, ashfall, and he considers his shadowclan family (plus his mother’s windclan mate) to be his “real” family. some worldbuilding ideas for the modern clans (aka it’s my sleepover and i get to choose what’s canon)

since this story is set far ahead of whenever the last wc arc is, i figured the clans’ culture might naturally evolve and change a bit over time, so here’s a few things :3

legendary warriors: cats who have done great things in their lives and are now said to control an aspect of the natural world. are they gods? saints? just some regular cat? how they’re viewed depends on the individual, and which cats are most revered varies from clan to clan as well. some also have little rituals to honor them (ex. the patron saint of nighttime and the hunt is a white she-cat usually called fallenmoon, so cats, especially in shadowclan, will “bless” the fresh-kill pile by surrounding it with small white stones)

mediator’s apprentice: just a minor detail, but whenever the mediator gets old/decides they need an apprentice, each clan sends them one apprentice. the mediator decides which cat is best suited for the role, and the chosen apprentice can agree to join the mediator’s clan or return to their normal training. some join the mediator’s clan to train and then return home when the old mediator dies. since the role was started in skyclan, most mediators have been skyclan cats.

scouts: a new role. expected to hunt like warriors, but rather than go on border patrols, they explore rogue territory beyond clan borders. that way, the clans are aware of potential threats like foxes or rogues before they’re within proximity to the camp.

nine lives: small change to how nine lives work. when a leader loses a life, the cat who gave them the life will decide whether or not they’re worthy to continue leading. if yes, the cat is revived as normal, and the process repeats until the leader loses their ninth life. if no, the leader’s remaining nine lives are revoked, and the cat is revived as a normal warrior. a sign is usually also sent to medicine cats to prevent the unworthy leader from lying.

canines always stick out

kind of hard to tell here but he’s pretty scrawny

flarepaw’s father was distant due to him actually being in love with a skyclan she-cat and not his mother, the shadowclan deputy. meanwhile his mother was busy with deputy duties, though she made more time for him than his father did. flarescar got over it enough to take a riverclan mate but he’s still kind of prickly in general. one of the cats to be chased out by foxstar and duskstar, but eventually he returned home.

psst i keep forgetting that i changed pebblestep’s (background thunderclan warrior) name, it was originally pebblefall so if u see that name on another cat’s profile know that i mean pebblestep

also why are background characters so much more fun to design than major characters

i gotta say tho it is really satisfying filling the allegiances with links
