Trying out some Free Form Habitat Flex from @smoothon to make some branches for our latest project. This stuff is great, we first created an armature then simply lathered it on with a spatula, minimal sculpting required. Really convincing effect, saved so much time creating it this way. Boom! Play of the Game! Another project in the bag. D.Va's Headset from Overwatch. These were designed by @optimistic.geometry, printed on our @ultimakers, mold and cast with products from @smoothon and painted with @createxcolors. Thom chose a matt lacquer, but we're thinking of trying a satin or gloss finish. It's amazing what you can achieve with 200 - 300 hours of sanding! Daft Punk helmet resin kits, both Thomas and Guy-Man available in the Discovery, Human After All and Random Access Memories version. Just add a pinch if hard work and a sprinkle of determination. 😂

Foam Hammer made from CF100 Foam and Seal Prime by @poly.props. Thom made this in around 4-5 hours in preparation for this weekend's Beginner Prop Making Workshop being held at our studio. Students will get the chance to make a simple prop weapon in just one day, planning, fabrication, sealing, painting & weathering. Started working on a shorter Mag for the Rat King today, one that's flush with the body when inserted, as it is in game. Contemplated getting the model revised and reprinting it, but decided to go the old fashion route: chop, stick, fill and sand!

2018 is closing down on us fast so we're taking some time to reflect on what a whirlwind year 2017 actually was! Our year started with this insanely fun commission, a giant #JurrasicPark sign for an advertising stunt. What's in the box? Had a couple of DM's regarding the Rat King and it's components. Here is how the prop is made up in its raw, resin cast form. 1x Barrel Section 1x Handle/Body 1x Magazine 1x Magazine Spacer We decided to design/build this prop with the magazine on display despite it being flush with the handle in game. We liked the design so we wanted to show it off. We may make a shorter version of the magazine in time or if there is a demand. The second image shows the magazine inserted without the spacer, the third with. The spacer allows for the magazine to sit with roughly half of its body on display. We felt it would be easier/safer to install magnets into a separate piece then trying to attach them to the base of the barrel with is quite intricate.
