I missed the seasons fo Shadowhunters deadline by 2 days.

Everything has just been so chaotic with starting college this semester, and I literally cried for like a solid 4 minutes. This series is just so important to me, and to miss out on these characters is physically painful.

So please, for the love of God's, pray that these books get released as regular books too, bc I will try everything to get my hands on them

I’m not sure what I love more about the bonus chapters: Xaden calling Violet a pint-size morsel of straight-up arsenic, or him calling Andarna cute.

Not to mention him calling Sgaeyl my girl.

This is the actual best thing I've read since Iron Flame

Fourth Wing Characters And Their Red Flags (Iron Flame Spoilers)

Violet: really bad at basic math (6+1=??), constantly interrupts people when they’re about to spill the tea, caused a questionable stain on the Tyrrendor Throne.

Xaden: unresolved mommy issues, really bad at 20 questions, stuck in his emo phase, has Endgame by Taylor Swift on repeat so much it seeps into his vocabulary, inappropriate use of the communal gym showers, self-sacrificial to a fault.

Dain: patchy beard, memory thief, used his nepo baby connections to get the wingleader position even though he sucks at it, has a low key crush on Xaden (the true enemies to lovers all along).

Jesinia: writes Xaden & Violet fanfiction with explicit scenes during work hours.

Andarna: forgets to take her melatonin and makes it everyones problem.

Tairn: major exasperated dad energy, v emotional and impulsive, unresolved trauma around Naolin, superiority complex when it comes to gryphons.

Sgael: Not that good at making choices.

Nolon: HIPAA violations for sure, was the true weakest link all along.

Caroline Ashton: dared to be in the book more than Garrick???? Literally wtf.

Brennan: Faked his own death yet chose the most obvious pseudonym ever, so deep in the closet he’s living in Narnia.

Mira: the abusive sibling (she was justified tbh), really bad at getting very obvious hints.

Daddy Sorrengail: literally doesn’t have a name? Speaks in code to his children for plot reasons only. Weak heart (sure buddy).

Rhiannon: Makes every other character look bad because she’s an actual angel.

It is so fucking funny that Dain, quite literally was all like

"i think I might be a little in love with Xaden, cuz I heared part of that declaration, and DAMN"

Like, yea, us too, Dain, us too.

Looks amazing! Also-- this is the best depiction of the height difference I've seen yet. As a person who is very short, these two are not like a casual 6 inches apart-- they are 14 inches apart

dain: i don't want you to die but i will proceed to do absolutely nothing to help you or make you more competitive so you can actually survive on your own and will instead keep offering you ways to leave the quadrant despite you telling me you didn't want to

xaden: i will forbid my friends from killing you, give you gauntlet advice, break rules and kill for you, assign a friend to keep you safe and another to train you at the gym, ward your door, spar with you on the mat myself, give you flying lessons, teach you to ground-

mira: violet, xaden is very obviously holding you back because he wants to destroy you by not allowing you to reach your full potential with tairn instead of simply killing you since he obviously very much wants to but can't only because of your dragons being mated

Ok, since my last post was about pure rage and hatrid towards fictional characters who weren't main villains (Dain, Tamlin, Zara, Umbridge) Here are 4 non-main protagonists that have the opposite effect of simply making everything better.

RHIANNON MATTHIAS. The honest opposite of Dain would be Liam, but that's too tragic. Rhiannon though is always there for her girl, always believes in her and is an all around relatable badass

CASSIAN. If there is someone who completely flips the idea of Tamlina nd his overprotective, jealous crap on it's head and created light and jokes in the darkest of Acotar, it's CASSIAN, with his cracks at various members of the inner circle and even training feyre (and Nesta <3)

FRED AND GEORGE WEASLEY. Aside from their tragic ending, Fred and George were always there to support Harry, and the truth, while keeping things light and lovable, even in the darkest of times, when they were there, the story felt better.

MAGNUS BANE-- when something is wrong, Magnus is the one to call, he's there and he reliable and he's funny and arrogant. Every page with Magnus is a page that is a better experience, he counters Zara's whole genocide thing quite well.

Sometimes, it's not the ships that keep me up at night, but the pure, unadulterated hatrid I have for characters that are written so well, I hate them more than real people. And I'm not even talking about like true villains of the story.

DAIN AETOS-- one of the most hated character in fantasy right now. Rightfully so. He's also just so much more relatable as a villain tbh. I honestly want Vi to slit his throat to shut him the fuck up. The idea reminds me of what clary fray called "mind rape" and that feels unnervingly fitting here.

TAMLIN-- cmon dude, you know why you're here. Where do we even start?

UMBRIDGE-- has defined abuse of power for literal decades, and makes every teacher seem easygoing and the the angry ones seem tolerable bc at least they don't lie in a little girl voice.

ZARA DEARBORN-- I swear to gods, I spent half of the dark orifices wanting to shake this woman until she choked on her own saliva, she just is so diluted and power hungry and hateful and downright annoying.

I know people will want to add Gale from THG- but, he's generally a little more real, relatable and he at least is on the right side, he supports the main character... it's a low bar but still

Rhiannon and Violet - Fourth Wing

Fourth Wing Anxiety- I'm low key refried that xaden is going to sort of die.

The sheer number of time he says "you're going to be the death of me" to violet cannot be a coincidence, so my first assumption was that Tairn, Sgaeyl and Xaden will all be dead by the nod the series, with violet surviving through her bond w Andarna.

But my new theory is that Hell only sorta die... like he could die and miraculously come back because of somthingviolet did, or because do from giving him the power to break through whatever causes his death, to her actually preventing it. The other idea that would go with this would t have to do with Xaden's physical death, but what if he channeled right from the source and became a venin (unintentionally) to save violet? With HER literally being the death of who he is as a person because of he (possibly mimicking the Naolin theory-+ which is WAY more likely

Iron Flame: Violet is a squadleader

This would be an excellent dichotomy, with violet under Dain's command, in compariosn to Dain being under Xadens direct command. It would also put violet in a position to better protect Sloane (see my post about Sloane).

This would also make her a better tool for command, to use for information, to bribe her with power, to get close and "show her exactly how powerless she is" as noted in the IF summary, this would allow the new Vice Commandant to be in more communication with her without it seeming too suspicious, and it would also allow the general to have a closer eye on violet as well (No matter what side shes "truly " on, Im still tied)

Additionally, it would give her an even greater position of power, easily masked by her "heroics" in surviving at Athbyne, she would also face more social divides as people (maybe even her friends or acquaintances) believed she was only a squad leader because of Nepotism, Afterall, to many of them she's still weak and small. It's also notable that Rhiannon is not mentioned in the Excerpt from RY, and has been set up to be a squad leader in her second year, this would also bring Vi and Rhi closer together, allowing us more backstory on Rhiannon, and more of her in general!

So, canonically it would make most sense for Violet to be a squadleader when taking into account the summary, foreshadowing and excerpt from Iron Flame-- I absolutely can't wait for the power imbalances and politics that will come into play in Iron Flame- I love the romances and relationships in books, but looking at relationships on such a large scale is a whole other kinda ballgame and I am here for it

Iron Flame: Sloane is Deaf

First of all, we know that Liam is fluent in sign language and because of this, we can theorize that Sloane is deaf. However, this idea can be further expanded on.

For starters, command likely wouldn't want Liam's siter to be in the squad of the woman who was there when he died, and was sent to die with him, this would just be colossally bad idea- however, if violet is the only person who can communicate fluently with Sloane in the rider quadrant, then command woud be pressed not to put them in the same squad without basically announcing that they dont care if sloane lives or dies. I also think it would be difficult for Vi to look out for sloane if she were in another group.

The other big plot moment here is a throwaway line at the begging of FW when it is noted that Dain has a knowledge of languages, and if he does, he may have a rudimentary understanding of sign language and this would cue him in on communications between violet, jesinia (Who will probably start to play a bigger role) and Sloane, giving him power, even if he is for one reason or another unable to use his signet on violet (Weather bc Imogen erases memories, or Violet starkly defends herself against him)

This would also allow violet to relate to sloane on a more personal level- both forced into the RQ, both with an intense disadvantage from other riders

Same. I kinda knew Xaden had something dark and secret up his sleeve, as morally grey men often do in fantasy... But turns supposed to be the one who's always on violets side

What does it say about me that I didn't bat an eye when Xaden "betrayed" Violet but my heart dropped when it was revealed that Tairn knew about it?

But also, can you imagine the fights between Sgaeyl and Tairn because Xaden and Violet are fighting 😭😭

Sgaeyl: Your rider has turned my rider into a fool!

Tairn: Hardly. I’d say your rider was a fool to begin with. Let’s not forget that it was my rider we nearly lost!

Sgaeyl: of course not!

Tairn: Let us also not forget that it was your rider’s lies that nearly cost her!

Sgaeyl: You bonded her! She’s your responsibility!

Tairn: Riorson chose her long before I did!

Meanwhile:

Brennan: Is that your guys’ dragons…?

Violet: *red faced* Yes. They’re fine

Xaden: They’re having it out because your sister’s angry with me

Violet: Can you fucking not!

Xaden: Oh come on, Violet! Those two sound like they’re about to level the entire fucking place!

Violet: And whose fault is that?!

Brennan: I am not at all surprised you two bonded a mated pair
