Quotes: A collection
An archive of quotes come across over the years (in books, TV, movies, extracted from other’s* collections etc.)
“I just can't get into this infinite growth model, this always doing better and bigger things, it's totally unsustainable yet I'm being swept along with it.” - Matt Irwin
“Judging a person does not define who they are... It defines who you are.”
“When you have to make hard decision, flip a coin. Why? Because when that coin is in the air...  you suddenly know what you’re hoping for.”

“...if you take away the labels, you realize we’re far more alike than we are different.” - Ellen DeGeneresÂ
“Equality is treating everyone the same. But equity is taking differences into account, so everyone has a chance to succeed... The first one sounds fair. The second one is fair. It's equal to give a printed test to two kids. But if one's blind and one's sighted, that's not true. You ought to give one a Braille test and one a printed test, which both cover the same material.” - Kennedy McQuarrie (Small Great Things: A novel by Jodi Picoult)
"Equality is our birthright; it's not a slogan.” - Colton Haynes

“First rule of avoiding disappointment... lower your expectations.” - Cappie (Greek: TV series)
"It's wonderful to be loved, but profound to be understood." - Ellen DeGeneres
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark TwainÂ
“The duty of youth is to challenge corruption.” - Kurt Cobain
“When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.” - Adam Kokesh
“Power is when we have every justification to kill, and we don't.” - Oskar SchindlerÂ
"When I hear somebody sigh, 'Life is hard', I am always tempted to ask, 'Compared to what?'" - Sydney J. Harris
--- Work /Â Career / SuccessÂ
"And what I'm saying is the metric of success is not always monetary or career-related. It can be a much more holistic equation" - Abigail Carlson (Big Little Lies: TV series)Â
"No tool is more beneficial than intelligence and no enemy more harmful than ignorance. " - Al-Shaykh Al-MufidÂ
“Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.” - Ellen GoodmanÂ
“I like work: it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.” - Jerome K. Jerome
“It is impossible to enjoy idling thoroughly unless one has plenty of work to do. There is no fun in doing nothing when you have nothing to do ” - Jerome K. Jerome
--- Uncategorized (as of yet)Â
“The point of quotations is that one can use another's words to be insulting.” - Amanda CrossÂ
“Good people are like candles; they burn themselves up to give others light.” - Turkish ProverbÂ

“Lost Generation” by Jonathan Reed
I am part of a lost generation and I refuse to believe that I can change the world I realize this may be a shock but “Happiness comes from within.” is a lie, and “Money will make me happy.” So in 30 years I will tell my children they are not the most important thing in my life My employer will know that I have my priorities straight because work is more important than family I tell you this Once upon a time Families stayed together but this will not be true in my era This is a quick fix society Experts tell me 30 years from now, I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce I do not concede that I will live in a country of my own making In the future Environmental destruction will be the norm No longer can it be said that My peers and I care about this earth It will be evident that My generation is apathetic and lethargic It is foolish to presume that There is hope.
And all of this will come true unless we choose to reverse it.

In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods...
On a Sears’s hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping. (And that's the only time I have to work on my hair.)
On a bag of Fritos:.. You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside. (The shoplifter special?)
On a bar of Dial soap: "Directions: Use like regular soap." (And that would be how?...)
On some Swanson frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (But, it's "just" a suggestion.)
On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down." (Well...duh, a bit late, huh!)
On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating." (...And you thought?...)
On packaging for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body." (But wouldn't this save me more time?)
On Boot's Children Cough Medicine: "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication." (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head colds off those forklifts.)
On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness." (And ... I'm taking this because?...)
On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only." (As opposed to...what?)
On a Japanese food processor: "Not to be used for the other use." (Now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)
On Sunsbury's peanuts: "Warning: contains nuts." (Talk about a news flash)
On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." (Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)
On a child's superman costume: "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly." (I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.)
On a Swedish chainsaw: "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals." (Was there a lot of this happening somewhere? You would think this had to happen a lot for them to mention it, right?)

“Diary of an Unborn Child”
Month one
Mommy I am only 8 inches long but I have all my organs. I love the sound of your voice. Every time I hear it I wave my arms and legs. The sound of your heart beat is my favorite lullaby.
Month Two
Mommy today I learned how to suck my thumb. If you could see me you could definitely tell that I am a baby. I'm not big enough to survive outside my home though. It is so nice and warm in here.
Month Three
You know what Mommy I'm a boy!! I hope that makes you happy. I always want you to be happy. I don't like it when you cry. You sound so sad. It makes me sad too and I cry with you even though you can't hear me.
Month Four
Mommy my hair is starting to grow. It is very short and fine but I will have a lot of it. I spend a lot of my time exercising. I can turn my head and curl my fingers and toes and stretch my arms and legs. I am becoming quite good at it too.
Month Five
You went to the doctor today. Mommy, he lied to you. He said that I'm not a baby. I am a baby Mommy, your baby. I think and feel. Mommy, what's abortion?
Month Six
I can hear that doctor again. I don't like him. He seems cold and heartless. Something is intruding my home. The doctor called it a needle. Mommy what is it? It burns! Please make him stop! I can't get away from it! Mommy! HELP me!
Month Seven
Mommy I am okay. I am in Jesus's arms. He is holding me. He told me about abortion. Why didn't you want me Mommy?
Every Abortion Is Just . . .
One more heart that was stopped. Two more eyes that will never see. Two more hands that will never touch. Two more legs that will never run. One more mouth that will never speak.

“I Remember”
Remember when getting high meant swinging at the playground.
The worst thing you could get from the opposite sex was cooties.
Mom and dad were your heroes.
Five dollars seemed like a million.
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "do over".
Your worst enemies were your siblings.
Race issues were who ran the fastest.
War was a card game.
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in Monopoly.
The only drug you knew of was cough medicine and wearing skirts didn't mean you were a slut.
Kool-Aid was the drink of choice and the only thing you smoked were the tires of your bike.
The only thing that hurt was skinned knees and the only things that could get broken were your toys.
Life was simple and carefree, but what I remember the most was wanting to grow up.

“And you calling me coloured?”
When I born, I black When I grow up, I black When I go in sun, I black When I scared, I black When I sick, I black And when I die, I still black And you white fellow When you born, you pink When you grow up, you white When you go in sun, you red When you cold, you blue When you scared, you yellow When you sick, you green And when you die, you gray And you calling me coloured?
