'It always came back to Rey. He could find a way to relate even the most tangentially connected topic to the girl with the RP accent that didn’t seem to match her otherwise slovenly appearance. Not to say that she didn’t scrub up well, but that was how he preferred to think of her: odd socks, bitten nails, greasy hair, and a sunshine smile that had thawed even his icy cold heart.

Of course, he shouldn’t think of her at all. Not anymore.'
