sorry that all i'm doing is yap about kris without actually writing any replies to anything but i have so many thoughts and need to express them lest i fucking die. anyway, small thing: i don't think kris sees the soul as a person. or, that the soul is controlled by a person.

on some level they understand it has to be controlled by someone else, whether it's itself or something else that is able to manipulate the soul, because they know it's what puppets them, and they can partly feel what the soul feels. what i mean by them not seeing it as a person is more in the line of not respecting it like one would with a person, dehumanizes it. it truly doesn't matter if you're doing your best to be kind, or act how you believe they would, you are doing something deeply wrong to them and they will never respect you for it.

actually. note on/headcanon about their violent side.

it's something kris is actively suppressing at all times. they hate it more than anything and is plagued by a level of anxiety surrounding it that they are incapable of expressing properly to... just about anyone. it's something they try to work on during therapy/art club, of course, but... they're so scared that they'll end up snapping someday and do something they'll deeply regret.

they do their best to aim this destructive/violent side towards anything that won't hurt other people. whether it's carving into things with their knife, or biting through things they shouldn't. this sometimes extends to being aimed at themself on bad days, which showed itself through their removal of their soul even before the player was around.

i think, much like how noelle becomes more "confident"/pliable and stronger during the weird route, kris becomes more violent and aggressive during it.

there's hints throughout the game that kris has a little bit of a violent streak, specifically with ERAM's weird route dialogue and the chapter 4 egg room with art club/therapy ("this is where we draw pictures, and don't kill each other!") but i don't think it's something they're at all proud of. again, see ERAM's dialogue, saying how they enjoyed that they could say it wasn't truly them.

i think by going through the weird route, we're encouraging them to get violent, even if it's mostly with us. they hate us regardless of the route we take -- but it's only during the weird route they actively beat down on the soul in a fit of rage, or bites their own hand hard enough to bruise, or kick the display with hope candles. of course, we're the ones toying with them and putting them in these positions, but their reactions are undoubtedly getting more extreme.

they don't want to be a violent person. they don't want to hurt anyone. see how they get genuinely upset if we make them almost hurt noelle through pranking her with that one electricity button... thing, in chapter 2. but we force them to! we force them both to.

I haven't seen anyone do this yet, and these tracks aren't on the OST as far as I'm aware, but here is all the audio files for the piano Kris plays in the Holiday house scene. They sound like real recordings to me, although I don't know who is playing. I've heard it might be Toby based on the style but I can't say for sure

Incidentally I have no idea what sevenfour is a arrangement of so if someone knows I would be interested to hear.
