Merlin swoops in and peppers Romani’s face with kisses once its cupped. “Hello beloved, darling, jewel of my life. How are you this day?”

"mari !" his voice sounds flustered but romani does not even wiggle around when merlin goes to hold his face and spoil him with affection. "what if someone sees us, hm?" despite those words his arms wrap around the other's hips. "you know my day is always beautiful with you in it... however, it would be perfect if you'd join me for breakfast."

finally got the emails today that my work contract is being expanded from the initial 3-year of test phase to unlimited !!! which puts me in a near un-fireable position...... i'm so happy if i wasn't also super tired i would probably cry out of happiness.

little psa - i am slowly in the process of moving my multi over here so i can have brand new tags ( I want cute !! unique tags !! for everyone ... ) but I am also gonna be on a work trip mo-fr so it's a very slow process. still undecided if I will take my laptop along .

❝Hey, Nitocris!❞ Arash waved, making his way over to her with a large grin upon his lips. He often had a smile in place, but this time different. It was wider and brighter than usual, if such were possible. ❝You did really good on stage! I never knew you were idol material.❞ But, then again, he did believe that she could do anything she set her mind to if that pharaonic confidence flared to life. Still, he had been pretty surprised when he heard that she was competing. Nitocris was honestly the last person he thought to see beneath stage lights and bright effects. ❝You’ll have to give me your autograph so I can keep it in my room.❞ He was teasing, but he could have also been serious. It was hard to tell when it came to Arash sometimes. ( arash @ nito )

her ears immediately greet the archer with a happy flutter, a hand raised to her chest she proclaims with her usual voice "of course I am idol material ! what is a pharaoh if not an idol - how insolent of you to forget that and that I have sung for you in the past." the last part is said with a little sheepish smile.

it's always been easier for her to show more of her personality around arash. even if he had a penchant for saying the most embarrassing things out of the blue !

"an... an autograph?" oh is that why she was supposed to carry around a pen and some pretty cards? "of--- of course ! a stamp of approval that I accept you being my fan" ...does any pharaoh know how to take compliments the normal way? probably not. "how should I sign..." it's more of a mumble to herself as she fumbles around with the card. "ah! I know"

"oberon, I've been thinking this for a while and meant to ask you about it..." the doctor falls quiet for a bit, trying to figure out the best way to word his question. ah well ! best thing to just be honest.

"what? you think those are contradictions?" he laughs and ruffles through her hair. what a sweet child. "being strong doesn't mean you can't cry when you are hurt or hate being yelled at."

"I'll let you in on a secret: I actually was able to best several knights in tournaments. but I still hate to fight ! battles hurt ! being yelled at hurts too so don't worry caster, you're doing just fine. I'm proud of you"

he does not stop when merlin tells him to stop. he knows his husband well enough to know when he means it and when he was trying to save face.

instead he wraps his arms around merlin and lifts him up to gently place him onto the counter. it's much easier to hold his face like that, to look up into those beautiful lilac eyes. even if it hurts to know that the tears are his fault.

"no more games" he repeats in a soft voice. "I understand that something is still wrong but... I will tell you everything I plan. no more secrets" solomon leans their heads together, taking in a deep breath. if he meant to be truthful with merlin he might as well start now with his wish.

"once all is over - once ritsuka and mash no longer need our help - I want you to summon me, merlin." so nobody could abuse his power again and so that he could stay by his lover's side. "I won't leave you - and I will not let you face eternity alone"

His breath hitched when Solomon pushed away his work and started to comfort him, and it continued to hitch as Merlin tried to keep himself together. It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t right, but stars above he was so happy that Solomon was real. Flesh and blood and bone and sinew.

Tangible.

“Don’t –” Merlin heard voice crack, “Don’t. Please. I know what you’re going to say and what you want to do and I don’t want you to do any of it. I just –” Just what? Wanted Solomon by his side? To kiss him stupid? To gently pummel him for pulling that stunt and leaving him to carry the burden of grief he didn’t want?

The hand on Solomon’s chest curled tightly, clutching at the fabric of his shirt. “No more stupid games, Solomon. I mean it. No more grandiose plans, no more hiding things. If you’re going to be at my side I don’t want you to obscure my vision anymore. I’m not a fragile thing, you know – I can handle whatever plans you dream up. Just.” Ah, there it was.

Tears slipped down his face, and Merlin leaned in to burrow his face into his huband’s chest; clinging to him.

Don’t leave me again.

solomon is used to flattery - it simply comes with the territory of being king and ritsu is not the first betrothed to compliment him from the start but... there is an easiness with which they speak that has solomon stunned.

clearing his voice he laughs gently.

"should I be worried that you think politeness is a sign of luck?" as if his mother would raise him to be rude. though it is a bit too embarrassing to blurt that out. he offers ritsu his arm, nodding towards the palace doors "I will bring you to your quarters. you will probably want for some rest after your journey"

They're well aware of their status as a diplomatic piece. But, quite frankly, it's much easier to be a diplomatic piece than it is to rule on their own. If they're to be married off, so be it! honestly, they mostly just hoped that the king they were bound to turned out nice.

The fact that Solomon is handsome is simply a nice bonus. Ritsu's a born flatterer. (More reasons why they were chosen for this role.) "Thank you. And you're polite, as well. I'll say I lucked out, though I also can't pretend I've traveled and met too many rulers. I look forward to our arrangement-- and seeing more of where I'm to be living."
