Back from break!
Oops! Looks like I took an extra week off. Had quite an interesting three weeks, but I needn’t bother anyone with my personal life. Production may be slower now that I have some semblance of a personal life outside of IRL work. But production is by no means being halted/the game is not being cancelled. 
I am also working on another little side game. A spin-off to Soulia Chroniclaire. But that one is going to take much longer to make, as I have only started working on the sprites.
I’m still looking for a music producer. As much as I love the free works I found online, I would indeed like something personally made for the game.

Soulia Chroniclaire -ALPHA- 0.0.2 released!!!
Here’s the next update for the game. 
Known issues: Lightning in the first level carries over to the second field for a split second. If anyone knows how to fix this please come to me immediately! Another issue is that I cannot seem to figure out how to make certain monsters stronger against physical attacks, but weaker to magic attacks.

I’ve hit that creative wall, so I’ve set the alpha demo to post on the 15th. I’ve been working quite a lot on this, most of my time taken up with problem solving with some issues, so I’m going to take a little time off to relax a bit, and figure things out in my life. I’ll resume work on the 21st!

Alpha 0.0.2 released in 9 Days!
I know I haven’t been very active, I’ve been adding a lot of new assets to the game before I release the next Alpha. Work has me on a strange schedule as well, so I usually come home either tired or really late at night. But now I will give a sneak peek of features from the progress that was not shown in the demo video.
NEW MAPS

New maps will feature the crystal tower seen in the background of the main area. There will not only be the exterior, but also the ground floor of the tower. Hopefully a couple of other rooms/floors as well, if I can manage it. What will be seen inside?
MORE ICONS

I’ve added (and will continue to add) more icons to the Iconset. Mainly for states/spells and alchemy items, and consumable items. If I can come up with mini-quests to add for the demo, I will be creating key items too.
NPCs / MONSTERS

Two monsters have been animated for battle. One monster is next (the brown two-legged thing), though results may not be seen until after the alpha, and there is a sneak peek of the monster for the next game (which is a desert version). The Guards are finished (complete with weapons!), and will be getting an animated battler! And then there are NPCs. There are still some basic ones, but there are also special shop NPCs.

XS Journal Script by Nicke. This was, excuse my french, a pain in the ass to install. But it’s finally working. I still have to change the font and what not, and possibly add mini-quests for the demo, but we will see!
If the next update isn’t the Alpha, then I will be posting more artwork, as I haven’t drawn in a while and feel I should be focusing on that next.

Hero Battler Sprites finished!!!
Sprites for monsters/enemies are next after I finish busts. As for promised costumes, I may not be able to accomplish this until I find out how to change the battler when the costume is equipped. Perhaps something for a future “DLC”?

I’m going to be taking the weekend off to focus on work. I’m at that point in production where I have no drive and don’t know where to start next between NPCs or Iconsets. I also might be opening up to volunteers real soon. I need all the help I can get.

A tiny sprite update!
The main sprites are the same, however they may be a costume system added at some point. We have Celestial Shenne, No Shirt Kayden, and Cloaked Kniell for possible available costumes. Costumes may come with perks too!
As for the guard sprites, they are just about finished! to the far right, I have the regular guards (top) and the elite/royal guards (bottom). All they need are lances, but that is easy enough and I won’t worry about it until later.
Next priority is sprite work for battle animations.

Cursor Problem Solved
It seemed one of the scripts was giving me a problem. After a battle the cursor would just disappear from menus. So I’ve removed the HUD script. Battle HUD will be plain until I can find another script.

A chapter by chapter fantasy JRPG inspired pixel game made in RPG Maker VX Ace. This is a project meant to improve the artistic skills of the crew. Overall a generic story trope, but the art and music is the main feature.
This is the story of the Star of Hope falling to the planet Eyria to save it from the King of Hell and his demons. Along the way she befriends Kayden, a human from a tribe of Alchemists and Thieves, and Kniell, an elf from a clan of Assassins. Together they work to destroy the demonic plague infecting Eyria, and save the planet from a future of chaos.

Features: Features a pansexual lead, bisexual and lesbian party members (trans, gay, asexual, and POC canon & secret characters in future chapters). Though the lead and bisexual party member share a heteroromantic relationship, representation will be shown by the other major party members. Mixed NPCs, no city will feature just white NPCs. Fully fleshed out world, with it’s own Gods, Languages, and Lore.

Current Work
I’ve been working on battler sprites for our heroes. Two of them are finished. I have one more for the demo, and one more for the final game featuring another playable character. After that I will work on monsters. I’m having a little trouble figuring out how to create a throwing skill for Kayden, though. I can’t seem to get the skill to work right. 
If anyone knows how to use Victor Sant’s Animated Battle script, I need only one skill to basically feature one step forward, the throwing animation, and a bomb flying through the air onto the enemy. As of right now, Kayden throws the bomb point blank, and I haven’t set the icon to show up, didn’t really see a point to it. (Lore ideas: he just sucks at throwing?)
I’ve mainly given up on trying to get it to function, but if anyone knows how to fix it, please let me know.
Also, portraits for dialog events are coming along smoothly. Sketches for the main three are done. I’m still working on the one for the newest addition.

I’m going to take production a little slow. I’ve been having a headache for the last couple of days, staying up and basically getting only 5 hours of sleep and I have 8 hours to clock in at work the rest of the day. And having two new scripts that require me to basically make new sprites, 
I need to take it easy. Fortunately, I do not close tomorrow and the day after, so I can focus on working on said sprites after work.
I am also considering busts with various expressions for cutscenes, as just one images doesn’t really cut it. There isn’t exactly a whole lot of emotion in these images. so Busts will definitely be considered.

For now, for the demo I will leave the single, simple images.
As for music, that too is going to take me a while, as I am limited to what i can find on freesound.org, and what little I know to do in audacity.
TL;DR, I have/am adding more to my plate, I’ve been losing sleep, I need to take things easy.

What to expect across August and September.
Besides the Guards being finished, I found a neat little script that adds idle and sprinting animations. I plan on creating idle and sprinting sprites for our heroes, and idol animations for NPCs.
I’m also going to work on battle sprites for the heroes and monsters (even guards and bandits!) to add a bit of flare to the plain looking battle system it looks like right now. I want this to be astonishing.
