Sometimes you gotta make a Monster AU about your own OC's! Like this one where Maruo (Orochimaru's father) is a naga who was abducted at a young age and mistreated most of his life. Daija (Orochimaru's mother) has only just encountered him and is already prepared to get him the fuck out of there.

Coming in at an even 6ft tall is Jiraiya's mother, Jiyuu! Big height, big hair, and one big heart ❤️

And we also have a baby Jira for comparison! Just a squishy lil guy. Something so funny and cute to me about babies being drawn in a style that's very different from their parents 😊

Orochimaru's paternal grandparents did NOT like Daija at first. In their defense, most people would probably be hesitant if their (admittedly sheltered) son suddenly fell head over heels for a complete stranger who also happens to be incredibly strong and capable of great violence. They did gradually come around to her though; for one thing, her strength became a huge asset in protecting their clan, since they're much better at defense while Daija brought some much needed offense. And they eventually also saw that she was a good influence in bringing Maruo out of his shell, while he in turn helped to ground Daija.

And of course giving them the most adorable grandbaby in the world didn't hurt. Who could possibly be mad at that lil face??

Part 3: Orochimaru

And last we have Orochimaru with their parents: Daija (left) and Maruo (right).

Part 1: Tsunade; Part 2: Jiraiya

Maruo (丸郎) is a member of the Ōnuma clan, who are descended from the union of an Uwabami and a princess. Specifically, Maruo was the son of the clan's head priest, who also served as the clan head. His childhood was primarily spent training to take over that role. He spent a lot of time either alone or with his snake summons, and that continued into adulthood...up until he met Daija.

Daija (大蛇) was born in a clan that was wiped out due to others fearing their kekkei genkai, which allows them to absorb chakra from their opponents. Daija was the only one to survive the massacre, leaving her an orphan. She would travel quite a bit as she grew up, gradually honing her fighting skills until she eventually became an assassin for hire. One day, she was tasked by a clan leader to take out another clan leader's son: Maruo.

Instead, the two fell in love, filling the lonely voids they both felt. And after some fertility troubles (and a blessing from the ancestors) they had Orochimaru.

And yes, Orochimaru (大蛇丸) is both of their names pushed together; they're cheesy like that. ☺️

Part 2: Jiraiya

And here we have baby Jiraiya and his mother Jiyuu, one of our OC's!

Jiyuu (自由) is a 6ft (183cm) foul mouthed, chain-smoking sex worker who wasn't really planning to be a mom, especially not in her 40's. But, she had a little oops, and when Jiraiya came along she couldn't help but love the little guy. Once he was old enough to walk, they moved out of the brothel they'd lived in and got a place of their own so she could keep work separate from their home life.

Her profession and brassy demeanor earn her the resentment of some villagers, but Jiyuu's dealt with that long enough that she doesn't much care. What really bothers her is when people comment on her not being married/Jiraiya not having a father present. Besides the fact she's aromantic, she can handle her kid just fine by herself. Her parenting style might be a bit hands off at times, but she's always there if Jiraiya needs her and he's plenty happy.

In the picture, they're on their way to their favorite place: the local theater! Jiyuu takes Jiraiya as often as she can and it gives him that flair for drama we see in him as an adult.

Part 1: Tsunade

Part 1: Tsunade

Part 1 of a 3-part series that my darling @sourstacks created! Each one features the Sannin as babies, along with our headcanons for their families!!

First up, we have little Tsunade, pictured with her grandparents! While her parents not being mentioned in canon could be because they weren't relevant to the story, we've decided it means they either died young or were just not very active in raising her. So instead, Mito takes on most of the work with caring for her granddaughter, with Hashirama joining when he isn't busy with Hokage duties. Of course, this also means that Tsunade likely took their deaths much harder than she lets on...

But that comes later. For now we get a glimpse of Hashirama using cash to get Tsunade to smile for the camera. Mito would normally complain, but it does seem to be effective! 💸
