having a mildly obscure piece of media for a special interest low-key sucks bc if I were like into birds or trains i'd be like "hey you wanna hear about birds/trains" and the average person would be like "why yes I would as I already have a concept of what birds/trains are/do and would like to know more, which I assume you can tell me" but instead I gotta be like "okay so the year is 1976. Anne rice's child has recently died and in her mourning she writes a novel: interview with the vampire. it is a breakout hit, more than she reckoned it would be, and it begins with Louis de Pointe du Lac...." and then I gotta explain the entire plot of iwtv, tvl, and qotd, and then give full write-up summaries of the movies and the show and characters and then explain the major differences between the show and the books/movies and if the person is still captivated at all then AND ONLY THEN can i get into any of the deep stuff

He owns the night because he finally owns his history and his identity! He's at peace!! It's an interesting phrasing because we frequently talk about the dead being at peace - Louis is finally accepting his own death and his own vampiric identity

reminder to the IWTV fandom that it's not cool actually to out someone without their consent, even if it's "obvious" and "unspoken". yes, it's great to have more elder queer icons and Eric's experiences of the AIDS crisis and queer culture are important and valid, but he did not come out. some author on Medium decided to put that in a headline without asking him (and even talked in the article about how unsafe it is to do that! but still did it!).

remember what happened to Kit Connor and how upsetting that was? don't do that shit. don't be the fandom that does that shit. respect that we're talking about an actual human being.
