Wes Anderson // Centered from kogonada on Vimeo.
“I have a way of filming things and staging them and designing sets. There were times when I thought I should change my approach, but in fact, this is what I like to do. It's sort of like my handwriting as a movie director. And somewhere along the way, I think I've made the decision: I'm going to write in my own handwriting. That's just sort of my way.” – Wes Anderson

“A work of archival criticism that forgoes the language of rigour for that of rapture... here are hands – votive, tender, purloining, trembling – that make me want to raise my own hands in gratitude to this mysterious poet.” - Sukhdev Sandhu, Sight & Sound (best films of 2014)

Star Trek: Legacy from Patrick Collins on Vimeo.
A 22 minute Recut of 'Star Trek-The Motion Picture' set to Daft Punk's modern original score for 'Tron: Legacy'. I always thought the two film's scores were very reminiscent of one another and I wanted to use that to give this recut a more updated feel while still maintaining some aspect of the pacing and staging of the original (very long) film and it's big special effect scenes.

Star Trek Beyond teaser with James Horner score from Scott Saslow on Vimeo.
I'm a huge Star Trek fan and while I certainly have nothing against The Beastie Boys, I wanted to see if this teaser might give off a different vibe with some vintage Star Trek scoring. I chose the late, great James Horner's music from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, specifically the tracks "Stealing the Enterprise" and "End Titles." I did the best I could with the resources I had and there's one annoying instance when the original music bleeds through. Other than that, I'm more or less happy with the results. The soundtrack album is available from Film Score Monthly. This video is for educational use only.
