does anyone have any tips on how to restore this plushie? this is a (what i assume is) retired plush from stuffed animal house named kayak and salty, its two otters that join together (ive detached the baby for the sake of this photo) but along with being dryer burned the mother has a huge dent in her cheek from being stuck together for who knows how long

Hello! So I've seen you talk a lot about therian stuff but I was wondering if you have any knowledge/advice for other types of otherkin? I'm a starkin, dollkin, and a unicornkin (but specifically a unicorn in a human form if that makes sense, like lady amalthea from the last unicorn). I've been looking around for information and advice for my kin types and I was wondering if you had any? If not, that's totally okay, I'm just wondering :)

while i am a little pocket of knowledge for a lot of things alterhuman (a perk of being the kind of autistic that has to know everything about something), tips arent really something i know how to give. everyones experiences are different and what everyone may need because of that varies greatly. im sorry i cant help with this one :'3

How do you gain the confidence to wear gear publicly?

the biggest advice i can ever give is be with a group or at least not alone. and i dont mean specifically other people wearing gear, i mean just anyone. almost always when i go out in public gear (excluding just my local area) im with my family. my dad is a head taller than me (which is saying something since im 6'0) and can be really scary if he wants to be so usually when im with him anyone that would approach me negatively wouldnt risk it. because i stay in those groups the interactions i do get are all either positive or just genuinely curious (i get a lot of old ladies making silly jokes about me being an animal or people just genuinely curious about what im wearing). because those are the only interactions i get it makes wearing gear in public a lot easier

masks also help a lot for building confidence because you can look around and stare at people without them realising so its a lot easier to monitor if anyone's looking at you or anything like that ^_^

and ive been doin this nearly weekly for over a year now haha so its definitely something ive gotten used to. i hope this answered your question anon!!

haii!! I'm a recently awaked therian ( although I have been doing therian-like things all my life like rolling on the floor, obsessing over having sharper canines, growling, obsession with cats, etc) and my therian type is a siberian tiger! Do you know what a shift is like? Ive only had one and it was mental one. Like I was making a scenario about chasing after a bird and flexing my paws (i started growling 😭)

shifts are different for everyone!! for me, my experiences mainly take the form of phantom shifts. i get phantom shifts depending on my mood, for example: perked up ears if im excited, ruffled feathers if im uncomfortable, wagging tail if im happy, etc. there are many many types of shifts that someone can experience, and not all therians do ^_^

if youd like an explanation about a lot of different shifts ive put a brief one under the cut :P

phantom shifts: the experience of feeling parts that arent technically there (like a tail, ears, claws, feathers, scales, etc)

mental shifts: when your mental state changes in some way to be more animalistic (like involuntary vocals, moving in a more animalistic way, having increased senses, etc)

dream shifts: when you have a dream as your theriotype

astral shift: when your body in the astral plane becomes that of an animal/animalistic being instead of a human

aura shift: when your aura becomes that of an animal/animalistic being instead of a human

cameo shift: when you experience a shift of an animal/animalistic being that isnt one of your theriotypes (like just a random one off thing)

ive never heard the word "therianism" before, i believe therianthropy is the term youre looking for! ^_^ /info

if im being honest, im curious about my own alterhumanity. ive been going through a few identity struggles at the moment because ive been questioning omnitherianthropy (a subcategory of therian which means that individual identifies as all animals) and yet i dont like it. i know thats the term i fit and yet ive been putting off using it or describing myself as anything like that for months now simply because it feels wrong to me. a strong part of my alterhumanity is wanting to be seen/referred to as what i am (examples: some of my friends casually refer to me with fox or bird terms, and my boyfriend calls me puppy) but if i am everything then simultaneously anything i am called is wrong. i can never be myself because i can only be one or a few things, attempting to be myself would harm the rest of me. i want to be seen as what i am but if i am everything then how can anyone refer to me in a way that feels right?

so thats something ive been struggling with a bit recently which i might write a more in depth post about at some point.

for alterhumanity in general however, the post important thing i can tell you is no two alterhumans are the same. it is such a hugely broad and complex concept that i cant think of one way to describe it that wouldnt exclude someone. when it comes to understanding how alterhumanity can be the best thing to do is ask a range of individuals about their experiences rather than one person, only then can you get a clear understanding of just how large and beautiful this community can be :)

id say the experiences themselves are fully seperate, but they can overlap. for example (im likely omnitherian but dont want to use the term) if i were a lion id never want to be perceived without a mane, or if i were a deer id only want to be perceived without antlers. all of my theriotypes are me and i am a man so therefore all my theriotypes are male

it gets a bit complicated when fictionkin is thrown into the mix because im fictionflicker/otherfix (aka temporarily identifying as fictional things when i hyperfixate on something) so it gets really uncomfortable and dysphoric when ive flickered to a female character. it doesnt happen often as im more likely to identify as a male character but when it does its so awkward to me 🤔

for urges and things yes, every now and then that does happen however i believe thats less so the fact of experiencing less since i get that imposter syndrome with anything and everything im involved with

for shifts, no. phantom shifts are the most common alterhuman experience i have, by which i mean i usually get them multiple times a day if not near constantly. because of that its hard for me to self sabotage with imposter syndrome as often as i might
