"Ahh--hi there, new followers!"

"Mm, I'm Haru! But I suppose you knew that already if you're 'following' me. You're not following me like Akira is, right? Well, anyway, I'm an alien, you see! And my blog shall be quite full of silly things, but I think it's fun! Anyway, welcome and hi again!"

"Spleeendid!" he cries, dashing in after Keito. Wrinkling his nose, he tilts his head in curiosity at the strange aromas. Tasty and new and strange, all at once. And the colours--at home, Keito had always set out bowls of fruit to accompany the flowers around the house, yet Haru has never seen so many before. Orange and green and violet and pink, too--and sometimes all at once. And then the vegetables--long stalks labelled 'sugarcane' and tiny little radishes, and outrageously green cucumbers, still on their stalks.
Poking the skin of one of the cucumbers, he asks, "Keito, is 'sugar cane' really made of sugar? On my planet, we never had eatable things like all these plants!" Swinging three cucumbers into his arms, he smiles up at her, supporting the vegetables upon his cookbook. "And--are tomatoes the scarlet ones?"

There were certainly a lot of shops in this small town, but that wasn’t a bad thing. It was good that this small town still had lots of opportunities for residents to find what they needed, without having to travel far. “Yes, it is.”
“Farm fresh means that it comes fresh from a farm, and that they’re healthy, which means it’ll taste good.”
They walked into the market. The smells of fruits and vegetables filled their nostrils as Keito took in the sight of the organized shelves.

coco-the-alien started following you

"Coco!" Though it is never exactly hard to communicate with Coco, Haru feels the tension that has settled itself in his chest ease at the sight of her. Leaping to her side, the boy does his best to smile. Somehow, her sheer familiarity--the fact that she is his sister, she is someone who shan't ever change, or snap, someone with unconditional understanding--allays him. It doesn't exactly make him forget--about the pain in his chest, or the fear of losing his friends--yet it soothes him.
It's extremely good, he thinks as he beams at her, to have a sister. "Today I played soccer at the beach, and then I made gazpacho and cake with Keito! I haven't tasted it yet, but I'm sure it shall be fantastic! It has flowers atop it, like your hair..."

"I should!" he exclaims, eyes darting excitably across the town as he bobs up and down upon his heels. "There are words everywhere on this planet, so I should be able to read lots!" Hardware shops, swimming shops, book shops--there does seem to be a shop for everything, he thinks, until his eyes catch the corner building, where Keito is headed. "Keito--that's the everything eatable store?"
Shading his eyes from the noonday sun, he squints to read aloud, "Enoshima market!" Focusing his gaze to the stands before it, he reads, "Fruit and vegetables--grown farm fresh!" Turning to Keito, he asks, "Does that mean it's tasty? If it's 'farm fresh'?"

She chuckled and nodded, as they continued to walk.
Keito went at her own pace, letting Haru run and skip as much as he wanted to. She wouldn’t stop him, as long as he didn’t get too far from her. “Reading is important. You should do it more often, Haru.”
She let hear arms go behind her back, and held onto them tight as they continued walking further into town. On the corner was the market store, where food was bought. They were getting closer and closer to it. Keito just hummed quietly and listened to Haru read everything that was able to be read.

The house is hardly as wonderful without Keito or Yuki in here, Haru thinks. He is sitting cross-legged atop the couch in the living room, picking at his toes in a listless sort of way. Somehow, he had been unwilling to accompany his friends down to the fishing pier--something in the sea is being disagreeable. It makes him quiver. It makes his chest hurt.
At the sound of someone struggling with the door, accompanied by Yuki's exasperated voice, Haru leaps to his feet, feeling the weight in his stomach dissipate. "Yuki!" he calls, and bounds to the doorway. There is something like relief washing over him, and he pulls the front door open for his friend. "Yuki--you dropped all your silly fishing things!" Beaming in his usual way, he takes the dropped rod and takes a step back into the house. "Are you done fishing now? Because it's much too hot outside! For anything!"

“Hey!” Yuki fumbles for the door knob, arms filled with his rod and tackle kit. His struggle becomes inevitable as the shimmering black rod manages to sneak it’s way to the ground with a crack. “Is anyone home?” Yuki exclaims, exasperated he begins to set all of his fishing gear safely on the ground, so they too won’t fall. As Yuki’s hands become free he swiftly checks his pockets for the key, but only comes out with empty palms.
He had only gone down to the pier for an hour, and already lost his house key. “Haru!” Yuki’s voice strained. “Are you home?”

"It would, wouldn't it? And I shall scold it if it takes too much!"
Bounding ahead of Keito, Haru points at a random building. "Down this street, Keito? Okay!" Wrinkling his nose, he reads the different building labels aloud. "There's the fishing shop! And that's a--'beauty par-loor...' And an ice cream shop! I walk down this road a lot with Natsuki and Yuki, but I never bothered to read the signs before, Keito!"

Keito laughed and clapped once happily, nodding. She completely agreed with his statements. “I think the wind would love our cooking as well.”
Hearing his question, she looked over at the buildings, seeing which ones were the best to go to. Obviously, none of them would be labelled as ‘Eatable things’ store. That would just be silly. She remembered there was a market nearby, where she got some food before. She pointed down the road, as they continued to walk. “It’s down this street. Just a little more walking.”

"You shall!" Beaming once more, the boy stretches his free arm into the air, then drops it with a contented huff. "And--we shall eat on the terrace under the stars and the wind! And the cake shall be so big and delicious that the wind will want it, too! So we'll have to be careful about that. I wonder if the wind'll like our cooking, too..."
Smilingly, Haru begins to hum the Enoshima dance, letting his arms and legs swing as they approach the town buildings. "Keito--which one is the eatable things store?" he asks, pausing and squinting his eyes in search for something clearly labelled as 'everything eatable.' "It ought to have a giant sign atop it, with lots of pictures of food to tell everyone that you get yummy things there!"

grandma-keito started following you
The way he talked, Keito assumed that he understood everything. But at the same time, she doubted whether he did or not. But she said nothing, and continued walking with Haru. She gazed out at the ocean. It was certainly calm today.
She thought it was a bit unsafe to have a pencil in his pocket, let alone his back pocket. He could get hurt. But Keito said nothing about it. Keito looked at Haru and smiled, nodding her head. “Of course we will! We’ll like it even more because you made it.”

"Oh--I see!" Haru says, not quite seeing at all. "There are stores for everything--but they're all different stores!" Suddenly, he wonders what other kind of stores there are, if there's an everything eatable store and an everything fishable store. Would there be an everything alienable store?
"Mm--potatoes, and red lettuce! Okay!" Pulling out the cookbook again, he fumbles for a pencil in his back pocket, and scrawls on the inside of the back cover the names of the vegetables. "I wrote it down so I could remember it," he explains as he tucks the pencil back into his pocket with difficulty. "Well--even without potatoes in the gazpacho, will Keito and Yuki like it?"
grandma-keito started following you
Keito walked alongside Haru as she explained to the best of her ability. It might sound overwhelming, or confusing to him. So she tried her best to explain well, with enough detail. “No, the stores are called that. Each store has its own name. But they sell practically everything. There are different types of stores though. Like bakeries, convenient stores, markets that sell food. Fishing things are usually sold at fishing stores. But it all depends on the store. Do you understand?”
She smiled softly as she thought about the answer. “Well, I like potatoes, and red lettuce. Yuki enjoys potatoes too. But I don’t know if potatoes can be used in gazpacho.”
