The nerve of some of y’all to call Bree selfish. Is my sis reckless at times? Absolutely, but never selfish. She spent all of BloodMarked worrying about her dad, Nick, William, Sel, Alice, her fellow LegendBorn and the Rootcrafter community. This even goes back to LegendBorn. That girl is always worrying about other people before she worries about herself. Which is why I’m glad she severs her ancestral stream at the end of BloodMarked. She needed that. Vera wasn’t helping. Arthur was…Arthur…That girl needed not to feel pressured for once to live up to and avenge ancestors that she just found out that she had. All this while preparing for a war and still having powers that she doesn’t know how to control yet. That girl needs a hug and a spa week.

Real, and ik this isn’t based of a book, but I just finished watching arcane recently and I can’t see Legendborn as a live action either. Like the pieces are not fitting together in my brain

once again touting the legendborn animated adaptation as opposed to a live action one. watching castlevania and getting intense feelings of #needthatnow. annette, drolta, ogun, sekhmet, and isaac were treated beautifully. they were drawn beautifully, written beautifully, animated beautifully, lit beautifully and their powers were absolutely stunning. im sorry but i just can't see legendborn the series being done in the way it deserves - with all the respect and acclaim the book series itself has gotten - in a live action. i just can't 😭.

the world building, the gothic feel of the lodge, the beauty of rootcraft, the medieval notes of incarnations of arthur, merlin, etc. the fanstatical beats of it just call for animation to me.

Selwyn Kane and Mythology

( Hold on cause this gets super crazy towards the end )

Ok so I’ve been meaning to post this for a while, but this is basically my findings from all of my research on the references of mythology in Legendborn, and how it relates to Sel.

Firstly, star signs. I already went over Bree’s star sign a while ago and found a lot of connections to her story so far, but Sels requires a bit more theorizing. Sel is a Gemini, whose myth begins with describing how Zeus seduced Leda by turning into a swan ( while she was pregnant ), causing her to have twins. The immortal son of Zues, Pollux, and her mortal son Castor.

When Castor is eventually killed in battle ( which probably has NOTHING to do with what’s going to happen to Sel 😃 ), Pollux begs Zeus to share some of his immortality with him, allowing them to spend half their time in the heavens, and half there time on earth.

Secondly, in Greek mythology, Nyx ( the nickname given to Natasia ) and Erebus, are married and have lots of kids, but their “main” two are Aether ( 👀 ) and Hemera, the God of light ( and the first Primordial god ) and the goddess of daylight. Now truth be told Aether and Hemera are usually depicted as either twins/siblings or husband and wife ( that’s Greek mythology for you 😭 ) but I’m pretty sure my point still stands that they’re definitely connected to Selwyn in some way.

These both hint to a few similar points but one I want to point out is that they both include twins and/or siblings, which is a bit weird considering Sel doesn’t have any siblings ( that we know of, I sincerely hope that Sel and Valec are brothers ) so I think that it represents Sels “demon” as Tracy makes of point of describing it as an actual identity for the description of what Sel is going to do during Oathbound ( like maybe it’s a double meaning of him facing his past and the actual demon trying to take over his mind ).

This could actually mean a few things, one, I feel like both of these story’s are heavily hinting at the fact that the shadow king is Sel’s dad ( I mean we know that the shadow king can shapeshift so I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Zeus shapeshifted to trick Leda into having kids with him ). But this got me thinking, why would the Shadow king go through all this trouble of killing the og Erebus, seducing Natasia, and staying in the order decades after the fact. Like it’s true that the Shadow King could’ve just loved her but I don’t feel like that’s the whole reason. Now hear me out me out cause this is a little bit crazy, but we hear how Morgraine describes that the shadow crown and the shadow king is similar to the relationship of Excalibur and Arthur and how they both are aether weapons. So what if the shadow king lost his connection to the crown once he was defeated by Arthur, and now is trying to find it again. How does this relate to Selwyn? Well what if the shadow crown gets passed down from generation to generation kinda like how each new generation of Arthur descendants have a chance to be called and wield Excalibur. But in the order the other knights descendants have to be called first, so maybe the shadow court has to come together in order for the crown to be “activated” and allow the Shadow King to find it, and maybe he thought that Natasia had a good enough chance of conceiving a child who was strong enough to potentially be the next wielder of the shadow crown or a member of the shadow court. Or maybe Natasia was such a baddie that the SK just wanted to bang 😭.

✨Star signs✨in Legendborn

Okay so Bree is a Scorpio, and the main story of the sign is about Orion or ‘The Hunter’ boast about how he could kill every animal on the earth, so Artemis and her mother Leto send a scorpion to kill him and Zeus sends both Orion and the Scorpion to the sky.

I feel like there’s some obvious connections at first glance with the scorpion symbolizing Bree and Orion symbolizing the Shadow King but the other characters are a bit harder to figure out. For example, all the animals on earth could represent Rootcrafters, just humans in general or maybe even Merlin’s. Artemis feels a bit like Faye as she is the goddess of nature, the wilderness, etc. and Faye could grow plants so it just feels like, as well as the whole creating the scorpion thing. Leto could be Vera and/or all of Bree’s ancestors.

So that just leaves Zeus which I have no clue who he could represent. But in general this kind of just reinforces what we all ready know about Bree being the tip of the sword and all that jazz.

This does kinda confirm that the Shadow King will most likely be the main villain of the story and that he is or will be a bit scared of Bree in the long run ( in the myth Orion runs every time he sees the scorpion thus him hunting in the winter and fleeing in the summer ) which is funny to think about.

All in all I think this is Tracy’s way of saying that all the characters star signs do align with their story’s and the plot. Which leaves a lot of fun things to think about when you look into Sels star sign, and also gets me excited about Nicks since we don’t know his yet .

I just realized that if Natasia is part Morgrain then Sel and Ava would be very distant cousins or just cousins if Natalsia is the first Morgrain Merlin mix. I kinda hope this is true because Sel needs a non toxic family member BADLY. Unless she betrays the Legendborn, if so then oof.

OMG YESSSS, and if we don’t get Sel as a Eagle Owl, maybe Sel as a Dragonnnn 👀. Hear me out, if the SK is Sels dad ( which I personally think is true ), I have a theory that the he is/was a dragon. Because one SKs wings are described the same way as Bree’s and two he’s definitely old enough to be one. Even better, we could get an Eagle Owl Dragon hybrid. Please Tracyyyy, hear my callsss 🙏🏾.

-bree finally manifesting her best version. like ik our king was running here and there for her life but finally she's gonna have some time to train herself and finally control her powers without arthur dicking in or her ancestors warning her at every waking and sleeping moments. and also, the dragonnnn do I need to say anything more??

-ruthless nick. i neeeed to see that side of him, because a reason I did not like him very much in legendborn as a whole was because he was actively suppressing his emotions trynna be the calm kid but he really really needs to rage now. we saw sel's soft side now I wanna see nick's ruthless side.

-we might not get much sel content but please for the love of everything that is holy I need need neeeeed natasia in oathbound or I'm gonna die seriously I need to know her I need her to adopt me and bree and sel and alice and william and everyone because she's totally mommy vibes I mean she's our only hope in this adult world

-and yeah i need sarah griffiths to takeover the southern chapter demolishing victoria because as William is probably not gonna be here I feel like she's gonna be in charge because obviously everyone kicked out tor. sar and the morgaines would make a terrific group and I'm living for it.

-i wanna see zoelle and eljiah slowly but surely siding with bree because they just seem power hungry demons and bree could give them so much more, like what if they meet valec and then find out that oh you could get these things and deals with humans all at the same place how cool is that?? and if they are shadow king's kids, which doesn't seem much unlikely this old man has a lot of kids scattered around, this forced family of valec, sel, zoelle, eljiah and maybe some more would finally throw up their parental trauma on the shadow king and maybe, just maybe break his ego or bruise his anger whichever works.

-a small part of me believes that a bree vs shadow king battle is probably in the fourth book butttttt a nick vs shadow king, or sel vs shadow king is possible depending on who reaches there first. i do feel like nick would somehow find out that erebus is not erebus by maybe his newly found abilities and knowledge, so maybe nick vs shadow king is inevitable.

-and ohhhh alice vs tor where tor dies please please please please I wanna see that I wanna see alice absolutely destroy that piece of shit yk just pure fury unleashed upon tor. it's gonna be so epic and if it happens in the ogof-y-drraig oooooh even better because that's where tor defied our king officially and that's where she should crumble to dust

-regent cestra either having a redemption arc, there is a slight possibility of that like a cobwed's strand amount of chances but it's there for me personally, or else she should die. bree vs cestra would obviously be amazing but it could also be by the hands of one of the shadowborn or maybe shadow king would kill her too either for the drama or because she figures out that he has bree or something
