You decide one day to test whether anyone would actually notice if you were gone. It's silly, sure, but sometimes...it's hard.

Living in the stone world is hard. And there are more than a few times when you think you could vanish, and it mean nothing.

So one morning, you wake up earlier than everyone else, and just...walk away.

You don't really go that far, after all, there's nowhere to go, really. But even still. The quiet of the trees and idle sounds of wildlife makes it feel like you're in a completely different world.

It's nice, you think. Quiet and calm and...terribly lonely. But if you've learned anything from Senku, it's to not stop an experiment before it's really even started. What kind of scientist would you be if you gave up and ran back now?

A pathetic one, that's what. And you were not pathetic.

You were just...sad. And scared. And sometimes you weren't sure if your friends were really your friends, or if you were just a body taking up space.

No, you were going to see this through, regardless of what comes of it. So you find a nice place, and you sit and wait.

Senku notices immediately. And how could he not? You were integral. Not just to the Kingdom of Science, but to him. He always looked for you first, always searched the crowds for your face, your voice, your anything and everything.

He stays cool about it, at first, idly asking if anyone has seen you that day. When he gets more than one negative, he starts to worry.

It wasn't like you to wander off. Had he missed something?

He searches his memory, replaying every conversation, every minor interaction, just hoping you left him a clue.

Did you go out to gather supplies alone? Had he asked you to do something like that off-hand and just manage to forget about it? Had you been taken?

It fills him with an anxiety he didn't realize he could feel, and he finds himself unraveling more and more the longer he can't find you among the villagers.

When it passes midday, he decides to drop everything and look for you. He can't focus otherwise. He has to find you, to know you were okay.

And he wasn't the only one. Kohaku, Chrome, all of them were worried. Even Gen.

He can't afford to send a whole search party with how much work needs to get done, so he decides to just go on his own. The others argue, but he waves them off.

"I doubt they went that far," He says. "They probably just...got lost, or something."

Wishful thinking, sure, but it worked. Chrome agrees to take over as lead scientist for a few hours, but Senku is warned that if he's not back by morning, the whole village would come looking for you both.

He takes a few supplies, just to be safe, calculates the most likely direction you may have gone in, and starts walking.

He wanders through the forest for hours, peering around trees and into small caves. He calls your name, and hates when the response he gets is his own echo.

But he doesn't give in. Not even when he's starting to become sure he picked the wrong way. He keeps going, keeps searching, keeps hoping that he'll find you around the next corner.

When he finally does stumble upon you, he's filled with nothing but pure relief.

You're sitting by yourself, dozing off a bit since it had gotten rather late. You don't even realize he's there until he's crouched in front of you and shaking your shoulder.

You startle awake, looking at him with wide eyes.

"Senku?" You ask, a bit breathless from your shock of sudden awakening.

"Hey. Wondered where you got to," He's honestly not sure how he sounds so calm right now. He wonders if you can feel his hands shaking.

"Oh, I, um-" You look away from him, unable to admit what exactly you'd been doing. But he sees it. It's in your eyes.

Guilt, uncertainty, and your own kind of relief.

He heaves a sigh and moves to sit next to you, his body feeling impossibly heavy. Now that he'd found you, he was utterly exhausted.

"Glad I found you," He says. "Been lookin' all day."

You blink at him, head tilting slightly.

"Really?" You ask, voice soft.

"Mhm."

"Oh...I'm sorry."

He just hums, leaning back a little to look up at the darkening sky. Neither of you speak for a while, not knowing really what to say to each other.

"We should get back," Senku says, long after the sun has fallen. "Otherwise the lioness will come after us."

You can't help but laugh.

"Do you think we can make it back in the dark?" You ask. Senku shrugs.

"Only one way to find out." He stands, and offers you his hand.

You take it, letting him lead you back home with him where you belonged.

Hi, yes, no worries about being rude I totally get it.

I hit a really bad burnout/depression stage, and have a pile of requests I still haven't finished. Once I get those done and start posting them, I plan to open my requests back up. Hopefully soon, as I'm slowly getting back into the groove of things, but as of right now I have no real timeline.

I'm working on it, I promise. I feel bad about how I just vanished. I love you all.
