i have a storytelling thing i like to call "making the jailer". its based on world of warcraft where in its eighth expansion shadowlands in order to up the stakes of the world it was decided that all of the previous villains where just pawns of a bigger badder guy called The Jailer. and it was terrible. it retconned so many previous storylines because none of that was ever planned. people hated the jailer. live service and long running series's will inevitably run into the moment where they want to up the stakes even further and when this time comes they may be tempted to create the jailer. You must avoid making The Jailer at all costs

That water was very, very cold! On a hot summer's day, it would be perfect. I am a duck, so it looks perfect for me, no matter what.

Okay... time to drive! Norway is a place that is very big and open, even as it is closed in by mountains, all at the same time. We set off from Oslo on the journey to Hareid. It was a perfect day for it! Grandmother would have been excited.

Jeg elsker å ta en liten tur i skogen. I love taking a little walk in the woods! These woods are in the south of Norway.

My best friend and I went for dinner in Oslo. We found a place right by the pier and the weather was perfect for looking at all the ships and boats. Ships and boats are very different, and if you mistake one for the other, someone who works on either ships or boats will be cross with you! I had some shrimp salad. Because I am a duck, I liked the green stuff best. The waitress said I was excellent. It is always nice to make new friends!

Having ADHD is so fun because sometimes youre looking for something that you use regularly and definitely put away in a smart and reasonable place and you have absolutely 0 hope of remembering where and finding it. And then other times ur like "hmm I need a some kind of small pointed object. I feel like i remember seeing a paperclip under the left couch cushion a month ago, i wonder if its still there" and it is

This is Kirkstall Abbey, near Leeds. It has a lot of history! I explored lots of different rooms and thought about what it must have been like when it was new. That is a lot to think about for a little duck, but my best friend says that thinking about things is how we grow.

using "what were YOU doing at the devils sacrament" to mean "yeah i made an embarrassing reference but you understood it which is also embarrassing" is very funny to me

The way most autism literature describes "literal interpretation" is often not at all similar to how I experience it. Teenage me even thought I couldn't be autistic because I've always been able to learn metaphors easily.
In fact, I love wordplay of all kinds. Teenage me was fascinated to learn all the types of figurative language there are in poetry and literature.
But paperwork and questionnaires are hard, because there's so much they don't state clearly. Or they don't leave room for enough nuance.
"List all the jobs you've had, with start and end dates." What if I don't remember the exact day or month? Is the year enough?
"Have you been suffering from blurred vision?" Well, if I take off my glasses the whole world is blurred, but I'm fairly sure that's not what the intake form at the optometrist is asking.
Or the infamous (and infuriatingly stereotypical) "Would you rather go to a library or a party?" What sort of party? Where? Who's there? I work at a library. Am I currently at the library for work or pleasure? Does it have a good collection?
It's not common figures of speech that confound me. It's ambiguity, in situations that aren't supposed to be ambiguous.
