I think everyone kinda has two ideologies: the one that you believe in in a vacuum where people are perfect and will organically agree with you, and the one that you believe in in the context of the good, bad, and ugly reality we live in.

And the root of a lot of very stupid internet discourse is the crossing of wires between these two ideologies, where people jam their perfect world ideology into the space that their practical reality ideology would otherwise inhabit. Or people listen to others talk about their practical reality ideology and assume it to be their perfect world ideology.

Either way, you should never, ever, mistake these two for each other, either in yourself or others.
