Considering Nero cannot speak in human dialects no matter how hard he tries but very well understands- It will be amusing for Vergil to learn certain pitches and rhythm of rumbles/clicks he makes to communicate to some degree without a pad and pen.

Though that also leaves Vergil to give his son the stink eye and huff out a classic. "Watch your language."

I love those AU's where Vergil doesn't fall at the end of DMC3 and he goes back to Fortuna a little bit later, walks past the orphanage and sees Nero there, and goes "white hair, blue eyes, looks straight up like us in our baby photos, it has been nine months + time since I was here last time and my sword is glowing. oh."

and then he just. breaks into the orphanage and takes Nero and runs back to Devil May Cry absolutely freaking out like Dante I stole a child what do I do

just for Dante to also absolutely freak out because what the hell Vergil

There is a brief moment when Vergil's eyes widen a fraction that Dante detected what tone he was truly attempting to convey. And not just acting like an ass. This realization tugged something deep within his chest though quickly stomped the feeling down before it could stick around for too long.

"Nero, himself, is unable to properly speak if you can imagine. But he seems to understand my limited social cues."

He has no idea just yet that it is all based on Vergil's emotional energy and body disposition. If only he was making that up. Nero should be talking but only converses via trills and tones that do not come out of a normal toddler. It's beginning to boil to a point that Vergil has another thing to worry about. Nero makes demonic noises in public.... around normal humans. Yeah...

"I assume I can leave you alone for twenty minutes?"

Partly a flat joke, combined with an actual question since we all know what it can be like attempting to mind your own business in a demon riddled environment.

Vergil does a quick pat down, knowing that he did not leave the world completely empty handed this time, but just wished to make sure. He just hopes the currency is no different.

"I'll have no problem with figuring how to work something out. You honestly don't believe I've lived in a two story house with a white picket fence. Inside full finishings all these years, do you?"

He was not being serious, actually it's playful sass, although that default tone of Vergil's definitely ruins the effect. Oh well. Hums in understanding. One of the few times he will take the elder's word. It really helps this Dante is different in appearance, attitude, and not a towering power house emitting a suffocating energy.

Coming upon a store, just nestled a few buildings down, he takes interest. It seems good enough. Glances at the other man briefly.

"Is making a stop there even worth it?"

He does not wish to waste anymore time. In fact, the faster they get off the streets the better. Never know where or another gaggle of demons could pop off. Or worse, get recognized then mistaken for someone else. That happened before as well.
