The sudden embrace Laufey had greeted Kratos with brought forth a feeling of calm and relief after a full day’s hunt. He had gone out on his own to gather resources their household needed ( and, well, to test himself ), and though he did his best to focus on these hunts, testing himself and his own resolve, he still secretly missed her every time he embarked on his hunting trips. Some part of him hated leaving her every day, he wanted it back to the way things used to be, but he needed to make sure he could control himself. The raging fires of war within could take over if he did not try to tame them. 

So when she kissed him with such excitement upon his return, he in turn wrapped his arms around her, pulling her as close to him as possible ( while being careful not to hurt her with his strength ). She is the water to douse his flames, the light within his darkness, his love.With her close to him, he felt at peace, as though any fires within his soul had extinguished, any pain, anguish, rage, all of it washed away with their embrace.

“My light,” He began when they pulled away for breath, though did not remove his arms from her sides. “I missed you, as well.”
