The guests will gather at the end of the tour for a hākari. They will sit at the table and enjoy big cook up from the kitchen staff inside. They can stay here and chat for as long as they like and then wander back to receive their shoes to conclude the tour and proceedings. People unable to sit on the rocks will have special seats brought out for them to sit on, as there is room better the rocks to add extra seating.

The tour of the building will then commence as usual, however, it will end at the back lawn where a hākari (feast) will await the guests.

Shoes will be asked to be removed and left out the front entrance way of the building. It will create the look of entering a marae, where the shoes are scattered outside and guests are able to collect this after the tour and hākari is over.

There will be a donation box for people to be able to donate money as a koha. This money will go towards the mental health foundation of New Zealand. The box will be made out of concrete and have Māori carvings carved around it.

The Pit
The guests will be lead to the pit where they will access down the stairs into it and sit to watch the hologram of the haka being performed using, sound and visuals. The hologram will be done by using the ghost pepper effect. When the guests enter the pit and they are all inside a remote will be pushed by the host which will make the outdoor curtains around the pits 4 open points of access will close in around them and the projectors and sound will start playing shortly after. For people that are able to access down the stairs they are still able to sit on the top step to watch.

The Idea
Using pōwhiri framework, the idea is to create a performance, in the way people are to enter Government building.
In this concept I have chosen to have an in house host that lives within government building and whenever a tour is to occur they are able to welcome the guests in, using pōwhiri framework.
The host will be accompanied by the guides of the house tour and the greeting will happen in stages.
First the guests will gather in the visitors building, where they will then be led out to the front yard of Government building.
The guests will then be presented a challenge (wero) by the host.
As they walk up the lawn, led by the host at all times, they will encounter a Karanga (call) playing over loud speakers.
They will then reach the pit, where a holographic performance of the Haka (ritual action chant) will be playing, as a video and audio.
The host will then invite the guests to leave an optional gift of a cash donation, which goes towards the Mental Health Foundation of NZ.
Guests are led to the building door where they are greeted with a hongi (rubbing of noses) by the host and guides to welcome the guests in.
As the guests enter the building they are asked to take off their shoes and leave them at the entrance of the building to come and collect later.
The tour of the building will then commence as usual, however, it will end at the back lawn where a hākari (feast) will await the guests.
This will conclude the welcoming and tour of the building and guests are able to walk freely back through the building to collect their shoes and are welcome leave in their own time.
