Controversy and Jawaharlal Nehru University
If you visit any University where Roads are surrounded by greenery on both the sides. Where you can find people in every nook and corner are exchanging ideas.  Yes, you are at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Nowadays when you heard about Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) your mind filled with many issues. From the warcry of sedition charges to rising of #Meetoo movement. Many issues came into the limelight some by media or by the government. A university which is renounced for its excellent higher education that promises philosophically nuanced and socially pertinent education. Magnanimous campus, eatery points, political views and notable Alumni, recently NAAC praised and accredited JNU with A++ add more feathers in JNU’s head-gear. Why this university is in limelight since last two years and why people still left an indelible tag for the institute and its student?
  Sedition controversy
On 9th February 2016, a cultural evening was organized by 10 students. According to India today, Anti-India slogans were raised at the protest meeting. After JNU administration ordered a disciplinary inquiry against the meeting in that Delhi police arrested the JNU student Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid on charges of sedition and criminal conspiracy under IPC section 124.  Soon this matter gets hyped in media where the world is divided into two halves where one supports JNU. While other against it. But till now it’s not confirmed who raised the Anti-India slogans.
Attendance row
A recent issue comes into the limelight where the JNU administration made 75% attendance compulsory for the students. This move can be seen as a reason to cut the wings of the students who got time for the politics. While the students of left or right wing say that JNU administration creates this huddle just to stop the campus politics. While if the students who failed to attend class can easily be expelled with solid reasons. This is not the first University which is making this rule. Banaras Hindu University, Hyderabad University, and Delhi University also made 75% attendance compulsory.
Meetoo movement
In recent days a #meetoo movement is taking place in JNU. Where the women students are breaking the ice and expressing how she was harassed by the professor Joshi. Last week eight women filed police complaints against a professor in the School of Life sciences but it took many days to arrest the professor for speedy he got the bail. While the students are fighting for the safety of women. The administrations are favoring the professor. The students who are in the advanced degree program and departmental science labs are also suffering from the harassment.
The teacher hold's major portion of a researcher or postgraduate student in project's works grant funding, job recommendation, publications but if the professor starts using his power for a wrongful mean then there is a need for a war cry. The women who are in such a prestigious university is suffering from this harassment problem so what happens with others.
So if next time you meet a student who is from JNU doesn't doubt his/her patriotism. They are also patriot as any Indian is.

meeting an old pal
Present, 2017 Waiting at the railway station is not an easy task, especially when the train keeps getting delayed every hour. Suddenly my phone blinked with a new message. It was Ryan, for whom I’ve been waiting at the station for last two hours. “Don’t come to pick me Meera, I can manage on my own as the train is getting late” Ryan said I quickly typed “Shut up, moron. I’m already at the station, eagerly waiting for you. Come soon!” I just hate coming to stations as I find it very painful to say goodbye to someone you love, but the station is the best place if you want to witness lots of emotions under a single roof. As the train is late and I have nothing to do, so I made myself busy in observing people and their uncontrollable emotions. So I started with one passenger who was standing in front of me with his newly married, they both are giving each other best compliments to comfort the pain of parting ways than I kept on looking around  until my eyes spotted a girl who is in her 18’s standing around the corner probably heading outside her comfort zone to pursue  her further studies she stood confident but her eyes gave the torments of future which out visioned her present. Her mother was busy giving her do’s and don’ts list, some packets of homemade love and telling her how to win hearts of teachers and every girls of her college while her father kept checking the reservation list to ensure everything was alright and every time he gave a glance to his wrist watch the worries for his daughter’s future and comfort kept increasing. Suddenly my mind was filled with the memories of my own journey from ALLAHABAD to DELHI but this whole journey was incomplete without Ryan’s support and guidance. There's an announcement of Mahananda EXP is arriving on station in just a few minutes. I messaged Ryan, “I’m standing near the bookshop on platform number 2” As the train stopped many people got down but my eyes kept looking for him. The moment I saw him I quickly waved “Ryan I’m here”, He comes to me and here we were both looking at each other after 1 year. “You look more handsome than the last time I met you” I remarked and “you look fatter” he said while pulling my cheeks. “Why did you wait for so long for me at the station,” he asked. “what’s wrong in waiting, I have full right to wait for you, my guide, my friend, my critique, my supporter, so I most certainly can wait for my ‘buri-shakal’. “I really missed that name”, Ryan said while we both bursted out in laughter. “So how are uncle, aunty and bhai?” “They are good. Bhai is expanding the business in Singapore and dad is very happy with his decision.” I answered. “But what about you? Is he “happy with your success or still angry with you”, Ryan enquired.  “Things changed,” I replied softly then shifted my focus on driving. Ryan understands my silence very well so he started looking outside the window. “Delhi has changed since the last time when I worked in NSD there wasn’t so much construction in this area”, he said thoughtfully. “Meera drop me in this hotel as my whole group is there and I have to go for practice.” “K but I’m going to pick you up around 7 pm lets have dinner together at my place as I know you love homemade food.” Ryan very melodramatically, “Ohh Meera without you my life is incomplete”. “Ryan, Stop over acting. Catch you back soon getting late for work.” “Jayo journalist sahib jayo” while waving at me.                                                       ……………….…………………. “Ryan where are you? I’m about to leave the office so I shall directly fetch you from the hotel”. “I’m free now as rehearsal completed a few minutes back so I’m in front of my hotel”. “Ok it takes 15mins to reach your hotel”. “Come soon. I’m very hungry” Ryan replied in a very jolly way. As the car stops Ryan open the back gate and asked me why my driver is late?  I laughed and replied “maafi sahib”.  As I was driving he keeps on telling me about the plays, new people he meets and most importantly about his girlfriend. Throughout the conversation I was just smiling and saying hmmm.   We reached home and I open the doors. When we gets in I go to change and Ryan visited my house as I come out from my room WOW Meera  your house is very beautiful and especially your reading room.“Thank you” Meera said while making bun of her hair “I bought something for you”, Ryan said. “And what was that,” I asked eagerly. “See it by youself” Ryan said “While I eagerly unwrapped the box which has black silk kurta with some white pattern over it sleeves and a pair of earning. I love it. Thank you sooo muchhh ryan uff buri shakal”. “You’re welcome, chotti motti teddybear” Ryan replied As Meena ready the dining table with food whose aroma is spreading in the room. We sit on the dining table to have meal. Ryan asked “Do you remember the year we meet Meera” “Yes of course, I do we meet in 2012” Meera replied while serving Dal in bowls. “Are you still angry with me for that mistake”, Ryan enquired while staring Meera’s face. Meera without thinking a moment replied, “No I don’t want to remember my past”. SHARE
