It’s all wrong By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something.

Anyways, i've been reading too much mxtx, so more yi-tish influence for our boy Jun.

I headcannon Jun as the calm diplomat, but only until his family is safe. Elia's boy in heart and soul, no matter his appearance. A lot of self-hatred, lets himself get hurt easily, almost as a source of penance for looking like his father.

Used to learn the guqin (um violin? no thats erhu yeah zither) but stopped because Rhaegar played the hard (also stringed instrument). He now plays dizhi (flute like my boy wei wuxian).

Wears white, a pale sort of orange, and lavender and light blue. Does not wear red at all.

Does not want to stand out, stands out anyways, so he's learnt to take advantage of it.

Very Yue Qingyuan sort of person, calm and gentle until you cross his line and then it's a quietly slit throat and you should not have said that, no one can insult/hurt my family.

Has a special bond with both his sisters, with Rhaenys for remembering the early years after the rebellion, and with Senya for sharing hair color and standing out.

His younger brothers are gremlins (if i read the five children thing right) and he loves them very much.

Very close friends with Jon (Dayne? Stark? i go with dayne). Both of them often feel as though they do not belong.

Feverently hates the concept of destiny, shattered several ink-pots until people stopped mentioning 天命 (tiān mìng) and 得命 (dé mìng) or heavenly mandate in front of him.

Looks like a cinnamon roll, can and will kill you, or for you in case of his family.

what can i say about this amazing chapter? the personality you gave rhaenys is just so captivating, and i kinda imagine her in a similar way too, so it makes me so happy that we have a similar vision of her

i noticed you changed a few things; in the spoiler you gave, it seemed like oberyn was still figuring out ashara’s identity, but here he already knows. i guess this was a narrative shift you made? either way, you always know the right path for the story

we've already seen two of our desert dragons, so i’m wondering when visenya will show up, and eventually elia too, i’m so excited

Idk if you’ve read the OG hourglass or how much you remember, but let me put one of my most favorite scenes to write here:

Elia mounted a grassy slope, sparsely treed, and emerged upon the heart of the river, where the ghost grass grew taller and the black trees were few and scattered. And in the midst of the valley rose a long broad structure of crumbling greenish stone. Stygai. All was dark about it, earth and sky, but it was lit with dark green light, wavering and blowing like a noisome exhalation of decay. A corpse-light, a light that illuminated nothing.

She approached it warily, seeing that moss and lichen crawled over the stones, and the broken roof gaped to the sky. On all sides lay bits and shards of masonry, half hidden in the waving grass, giving the impression that once many buildings rose there, perhaps a whole town. But now only the long hall-like structure rose against the sky, and its walls leaned drunkenly among the crawling vines.

Whatever doors had once guarded had long rotted away. She stood in the broad entrance and stared inside. The weak sunlight from the noon sun streamed in through gaps in the walls and roof, making the interior a dim weave of light and shadow. Faking courage- by the Warrior, Elia had never been a soldier- she entered with careful, noiseless feet.

Once within, Elia gasped at what laid inside.

Statues.

How life-like—and how imposing.

They all seemed to be listening—and waiting.

For what?

For you, she shivered.

I literally just finished reading the spoilers for the stories and the one that got me most excited was sunset embers (in fact, it's my favorite fanfic, so anything that's released about it, I'm very happy!

wait, so I'm guessing this is after rhaelia and elia reunite right? so the "him" would be directed at the prince elia is married to now right? so elia is hesitant to go back to yi ti? SO SHE WANTS TO BE WITH RHAEGAR??!! OMGG I'M DELIRIOUS

I thought that in ties that bind, Oberyn's children knew that Elia had survived, just like everything else of course, I really want to see scenes of Oberyn with the boys, he's a good father ♡

By the way, author, will we have any scene/interaction between Oberyn and Cersei in this chapter? It's such an unlikely couple, but I particularly like it a lot!

no more spoilers for next chapter of ties that bind because i may end up giving it all away but let me just say that cersei and oberyn are a very unique, fun couple!!! oberyn gives her the power and freedom she’s always craved and cersei gives him her loyalty (bc for all her flaws, cersei IS loyal to her children and house lannister). just two shrewd, sexy people in a relationship haha.

because you asked so nicely, imma give both hehe. im glad people are still missing sunset embers! i promise when i get my writing will back, i am sooo returning to that story. it’s just very different from what i am used to writing (very dark, almost do not eat dead dove fr)

here are some snippets that have been in my notes app for MONTHS now:

SUNSET EMBERS

“You should go with him,” Rhaegar whispered harshly, baring his teeth, “When he asks you. Because he will. I would, in his position. He will ask you to run away with him to only gods know where. You should go, and have his children and kiss their wounds and teach them to read.”

“You don’t mean that.” Elia rolled her eyes. The air between them was thick, knotted.

“No,” he laughed, an empty sound. “I don’t mean it.” He pushed her back, against her vanity. He turned her around. Their eyes met in the mirror. “Of course, I don’t. Stay with me forever. And whatever comes after that.”

Please, he didn’t say, but Elia heard it anyway.

The two boys gasped. They knew that name well, having grown up hearing about Ashara Dayne, the woman who had been entwined with the stories of their dead aunt, Elia Martell.

“What… what is this?” Elias stammered, struggling to understand. Aunt Ashara was supposed to be dead.

His older brother, always the more quick witted one, furrowed his brows in realization. “So the foreign prince in King’s Landing,” Tommen murmured, his mind racing. “The whispers are true. That’s Aegon. Our cousin.”
