The Eiertunnel of Bad Kleinen

While I'm out with a cold I got from so much as looking at a Badesee this weekend, here is some creepy-cute german folklore I learned while hiking up to said Badesee this weekend (most of it is just cute so you've got to keep reading for the creepy part):

In the German town of Bad Kleinen there is an old pedestrian underpath going beneath a set of traintrecks. A friend of mine who was already at the lake texted me that he 'didn't get why they call it' Eiertunnel (German for 'Egg Tunnel') - when I arrived at the tunnel, that question was answered pretty quickly... ITS SHAPED LIKE A BLOODY EGG I DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS TROLLING OR DIDN'T HAVE HIS GLASSES ON WHEN HE CAME THROUGH! (See image 1)

Since I was already there I still checked out the sign next to the tunnel because It clearly had more text on ot than 'Its shaped like egg idk what you want bro' (Sign pictured in photo 4). For all my non german-speaking fans should those exist, here's the legend I found on it: According to the sign, there once was a 'young lady' who went through the tunnel to get to the lake, when all of a sudden a train passed over the tunnel - since she had apparently not noticed the big as train-trestle going over it she probably thought It was the devil or something so she jumped into the arms of a young man who had entered the tunnel from the other side in just that moment! Apperently they hit it off and shortly after they got married. (Full disclosure the German text says 'Junges Mädchen' which would literally mean 'young girl', but knowing the tendency of German boomers to call everybody under 40 with she / her pronouns 'junges Mädchen' especially if they lived befor the Berlin wall fell, I'd just like to imagine there was no problematic age-gap going on)

According to legend ever since the day the two met, people coming from opposite directions and meeting by chance in the tunnel will fall in love and become a couple shortly after!

As seen here in Image 2 (yours truely walking the tunnel themselve), the tunnel is tight as fuck and I couldn't even get my anemic ass past another person in there without cuddling even if they were a fashion-model from the 1990s, so my head-canon on the original encounter is that she actually just awkwardly bumped into him, fumbled for something fumny to say because she realized in that moment that he was hot, was to stunned to come up with something more clever and went with 'sorry man I got spooked by the train, I mean whats the chances of hearing one of those under a train-trestle, right?' (He was so smitten by her socially awkward swag, that they got married right then and there, the ceremony being overseen by one of the shadow-people who live in the tunnel - oh yeah, did I forget to mention the shadow-people living in the tunnel - one of thel is an ordaned minister I guess)

And as the sign masterfully closes out this nice little story about fimding love in an egg-shaped tunnel: "...and if you keep an ear out during such an encounter, you can hear the giggles of the Echo-Men who live inside the cracks in the walls!"

Lilke, come again? The WHO? Usually people OPEN with the race of paranormal emtities luving in the cracks of their egg-hole!

So basically my rating of the egg-tunnel in terms of German folklore places, it's definitly no Teufelsmoor, but still 8/10 echopeople-eggs, would walk through again - and probably will, because the is a small music festival held at the lake on the other side.

So, I guess if anyone one is looling to get with me, just hide near that tunnel first day of that festival, pop in just as I go thorugh and ask me if I want to go for a coffee with you sometime while I awkwardly push past you 🤫 (Or you could just ask me out for a coffee without all the setup and tell me what the fuck the Echo-Men are, that would probably work too... 🤔)
