text messaging is an important advance in communication essay Text-messaging is an important advance in communication - or is it, lolaeoielx
Text-messaging is an important advance in communication – or is it? Since the first SMS was sent in 1992, text messaging has become one of the most popular forms of communication, especially among the younger generation, with billions of messages being sent every day. But has this technology really improved interpersonal communication? Being able to send short, written messages via mobile phone has clearly advanced communication in certain respects. The greatest benefit of texting is that it allows us to communicate instantly with other people wherever they are, but without interrupting them in the way that a phone call would, and allowing them to do so. In addition, sending a text, for example to arrange where to meet someone, is a quick, concise, and efficient way of communicating, as people normally only include the vitaol information. Finally, text messaging is a very cheap from of communication, which is a particular advantage for young people or for people who are travelling, when mobile phone conversations can be prohibitively expensive. On the other hand, however, there are strong arguments to suggest that text messaging has had a negative effect on how we communicate. One downside is that there is a tendency for people to use texts as an excuse to get out of conversations which might be uncomfortable to have either face-to-face or on the phone. Another drawback is that people increasingly text while they are in company, suddenly switching off from a conversation and focusing on their phone screens. However, perhaps the most important and worrying downside of texting is the effect it is havinng on written communication. Teachers worldwide complain that the idiosyncratic language of text messages, such as abbreviated words and the use of letters and numbers to convey meaning has led to a generation of young people being unable to spell or form correct sentences. To sum up, although text messages are a cheap and useful way of communicating, they have arguably led to young people being less able to express themselves correctly in writing. On balance, I believe that text messaging does not represent an advance in communication. If the individual wishes to practice, then it is important to become a Registered Psychologist . The key of an anecdote is that it should do more than just amuse and interest the reader, it should directly connect to the thesis that you seek prove. You should be able to use a good anecdote as a springboard leading you to your main argument, regardless of whether or not the anecdote agrees or disagrees with your thesis. Make a Bold Statement. Making a bold statement is a suitable tactic for someone who has a very clearly defined thesis, knows exactly how she will argue for her thesis and most importantly, feels very confident. A bold statement opening the first paragraph of your essay is wise idea, as it will definitely grab the attention of the reader; however, you must absolutely make sure that your arguments and supporting paragraphs maintain your statement. what is a good way to start an essay Good Ways to Start an Essay, Synonym
She has lived in St. Good Ways to Start an Essay. Starting an essay can be the hardest part, but once you start writing, often you'll find that your ideas and your arguments flow smoothly. When starting an essay, the most important thing to keep in mind is to begin your essay with something that captures the reader's attention immediately and makes them want to genuinely continue reading your essay. Using a relevant quote is a suitable way to begin your essay. If you're writing an essay on a novel or play, you could quote a significant moment in the text that relates to your thesis in some way. Alternatively, you could quote a famous text that's not the basis for your essay which has relevance nonetheless. For a historical essay, you could quote a famous politician, world or historical leader. Regardless of where your quote comes from, it should not be something that is generally familiar to most people, such as the "to be or not to be" question posed in Shakespeare's "Hamlet." The reason for this is because it's hard to capture a reader's attention with something they have heard quite often, since the quote would seem somewhat trite. An anecdote is a very suitable way to being an essay, as it should tell the reader some interesting information that he was not aware of earlier. For example, for a paper on literature or history you could tell Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" or quote F. Scott Fitzgerald's famous remark to Hemingway about the rich. The key of an anecdote is that it should do more than just amuse and interest the reader, it should directly connect to the thesis that you seek prove. Repeat both your name and identifying number on each page, either in the header or the footer. Where to put your name on a college application essay. Where do I put my name on my admissions essay? Do I add a header to the other pages? What about a title? Unless the school's application instructions specify otherwise, there are no hard-and-fast rules about small formatting questions like these. Somewhere on the top of the page would be best. You should also include additional identifying information, such as your social security number, your date of birth, or an applicant ID number if the university has given you one. If you have a title, we suggest putting it on the first page only, on a separate line after your name and identifying number, centered or left-justified. To study the efficiency argument in particular, Breuer exploited a natural experimental setup in the EU, where countries use size thresholds for establishing which small private companies will be exempt from full reporting and auditing requirements. He analyzed industry-level productivity and other metrics in 26 European countries from 2001 to 2015, comparing the effects of reporting and auditing mandates on how resources are allocated with a given industry and country. Making private companies report their full financial statements created more competitive markets, Breuer finds. He says that it drove more companies to open (although also to close), reduced market concentration, and lowered barriers to going public. But he says the regulation didn’t necessarily make the market more efficient in terms of resource allocation—rather than grow the economic pie, it mostly changed the relative sizes of the pie’s slices. Customers, suppliers, and competitors stood to benefit from what would otherwise have been a company’s proprietary information. Interestingly, greater competition as a result of mandatory reporting appears to stifle rather than spur productivity growth, at least for the typical firm in an industry,” he adds. And Breuer finds that requiring audited statements deterred companies, particularly small ones, from starting up—imposing costs without producing corresponding industry-wide benefits. His evidence leaves him unconvinced that mandating audits is any better than making audits voluntary.... View more ...

Regulation of Financial Accounting and Reporting the Pro-Regulation Perspective The benefits, and limits, of financial-reporting regulation, Chicago Booth Review
While the dissipation of proprietary information may have meant lower prices for consumers, it also appears to have discouraged companies from making productivity-enhancing investments. The benefits, and limits, of financial-reporting regulation. Marty Daks | Apr 17, 2018. Many companies in the United States and European Union complain that requiring them to publish audited financial statements is onerous and hurts economic activity. But defenders of the rules counter that such requirements help make markets more efficient. Which is it? Research by Chicago Booth PhD candidate Matthias Breuer suggests that there may be good reasons to require financial reporting and auditing, but the efficiency argument doesn’t really hold up. Public companies in the US and EU have reporting requirements, as do some private companies in the EU. Regulators and others in favor of such reporting argue that capital providers, customers, and suppliers can use accurately reported financials to better evaluate disclosing and related companies, benefiting everyone. Prior research suggests that these stakeholders may indeed make use of companies’ mandatory disclosures. Should the Sale of Junk Food in School Canteens Be Banned Why junk food should not be sold in school canteens
In April 2014, the US Department of Agriculture imposed a ban on junk food in schools taking cognisance of the medical evidence. Why junk food should not be sold in school canteens. Illustration, DNA Research & Archives. Women and Child Development (WCD) minister Maneka Gandhi’s demand for a ban on junk food in school canteens could help address problems relating to obesity that are increasingly being seen in children hailing from middle class families. She has also sought the notification of new food guidelines that define junk food and categorise it by nutritional value. Currently, there is poor understanding among parents and children about the dangers posed by processed foods, especially those foods high in fat, salt and sugar. In an impressive attempt to kickstart inter-ministerial dialogue, Maneka has written to her colleagues in two stakeholder ministries — HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Health Minister JP Nadda. Maneka would know that Irani’s backing is needed to implement her suggestion of a junk food ban in schools while Nadda will be key to what could be a comprehensive reform of nutritional labelling. Recently, a WCD ministry panel had advocated ban on sale of junk foods in school canteens and entry of private vendors and hawkers within 200 meters of the premises during school hours. The committee even suggested that shops stop selling proprietary foods to children in school uniform, and ensure that school canteens not stock non-standardised proprietary foods with poor nutritional value. Another important strategy is the implementation of colour coding on food packets. It has been suggested that healthy foods like vegetables, legumes, fruits, grains, lean meat, fish and eggs be colour-coded as green, vegetable-based snacks and ice creams coded yellow, and the “prohibited” foods like confectionery, energy drinks and fried packaged foods coded orange. But it is also important that such colour codes on food packets are clearly visible and draw consumer attention. For a while now, different colour codes are used to distinguish toothpastes by their chemical composition but few are aware of it or can spot the tiny colour code at the tube’s base. In a related context, the Health Minister has been opposing the increase in size of pictorial warnings on tobacco packets despite it being a cost-effective way to raise awareness on cancer. Food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur was at the forefront of those opposing the Maggi ban. Nadda and Kaur’s stances indicate that there could be staunch resistance to Maneka’s proposals. Many states have banned the sale of tobacco and liquor products near schools and colleges.... View more ...

The Impossible Peace Why has it been so difficult to achieve peace between Israel and the Palestinia Who Are The Palestinians What And Where Is Palestine
Jewish Nation in this Holy Land. The Impossible Peace: Why has it been so difficult to achieve peace between Israel and the Palestinians? WHO ARE THE P ALESTINIANS? WHAT AND WHERE IS PALESTINE ? These and other questions will be addressed more fully as you go through this website. However, there is a preliminary historical fact that must be established now. There has never been a civilization or a nation referred to as "Palestine" and the very notion of a "Palestinian Arab nation" having ancient attachments to the Holy Land going back to time immemorial is one of the biggest hoaxes ever perpetrated upon the world! There is not, nor has there ever been, a distinct "Palestinian" culture or language. Further, there has never been a Palestinian state governed BY Arab Palestinians in history, nor was there ever a serious Arab-Palestinian national movement until 1964. BEFORE the Arabs of "Palestine" lost the "West Bank" and Gaza as a result of losing the 1967 Six-Day War (which the Arabs started). Before the 1967 war, the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) primary goal was to destroy Israel. Post-1967, their goal became two-tracked: Either (1) destroy Israel outright (the same pre-1967 goal) or (2) the creation of an Arab-Palestinian state to be used as a launching pad from which to destroy Israel. Different strategies - same ultimate goal. Israel, but IN PLACE OF Israel. It's really that simple! Israel became a nation in 1312B.C.E., two thousand years before the rise of Islam! Seven hundred and twenty-six years later in 586 B.C. Jews in the Land of Israel [Judea] were overrun and its First Jewish Temple (on Jerusalem's Old City Temple Mount) was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, king of ancient Babylon.... View more ...

Miss Maudie is telling Scout that you shouldn’t kill a mockingbird for no reason. They are just like all other birds and have feelings too.
