Understand the principle of laser cutting focus in one article.
Any sheet material must be adjusted for the distance between the focus and the material before cutting. The choice of focus position varies depending on the cutting material and method (as shown in the figure below), so laser cutting requires continuous dynamic adjustment of the focus position. So, how is the focus position changed?

After replacing the RF laser tube, the system displays "Laser Tube Connection Error"?
When the following conditions are met:
• Connectors show no internal desoldering or short circuits;
• Power wiring is correct (left positive, right negative, with the negative pole connected to ground);
• Water cooling circuit is properly connected;
• Chiller and equipment have been restarted;
…yet the connection still fails → The issue is typically caused by a damaged or incompatible circuit board of the 25-pin connector.
Examples:
• Circuit board hardware failure;
• Compatibility conflict between encrypted and non-encrypted tubes (e.g., encrypted tubes require authentication chips, while non-encrypted tubes use generic boards).

Laser Cutting Stainless Steel: Common Issues & Solutions
1.① The higher the focus position, the brighter the cutting surface.
•Technical principle: A higher focus concentrates energy on the material surface, enhancing melting efficiency and surface smoothness.
2.② Hard slag adhesion on the lower surface: Focus too high, speed too slow, gas pressure too low.
•Mechanism: Excessive focus height reduces penetration depth, while low speed/pressure fails to eject molten slag, forming hardened deposits.
3.③ The lower the focus position, the rougher the cutting surface.
•Cause: Deep focus disperses energy, widening the kerf and increasing surface roughness.
4.④ Soft slag adhesion on the lower surface: Focus too low, speed too fast, gas pressure too high, power too high.
•Analysis: Overly deep focus + high speed/power causes incomplete melting; excessive gas pressure splashes semi-molten material, creating viscous slag.

🚫 Eliminating Bottom Slag/Dross in Laser Cutting
[Image: Left – "Cutting with slag/dross effect"; Right – "Optimized result"]
Common Causes:
1️⃣ Nozzle Issues: Small nozzle size + incorrect focal point.
2️⃣ Parameter Mismatch: Improper air pressure (too high/low) or excessive cutting speed.
3️⃣ Material Quality: Poor sheet metal resists clean cuts with small nozzles.
Proven Solutions:
✅ Upgrade Nozzle & Calibrate: Use larger nozzles + adjust focus position.
✅ Optimize Airflow: Fine-tune pressure for adequate gas flow.
✅ Material Matters: Select high-quality sheet metal.
🔍 Quality cuts demand precision in tools, parameters, and materials.
