Characteristics, management and factors associated with poor outcomes in COVID-19 patients in Burkina Faso
This study in Burkina Faso analyzed COVID-19 patient records from March 2020 to April 2021 to assess treatments and factors predicting severe cases. Out of 1511 patients (mostly young, male, and urban), 86% were treated—mostly with Azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine. About 5.2% had complications and 3.3% died. Age, residence, and comorbidities were linked to worse outcomes, though most recovered without severe issues.
