Wow. The Owl House pilot leaked and I have so much to say!

Not going to get into the politics of leaking/preservation but I'm glad it has happened now and not when there was a greater risk to the show. Something crazy must have gone down for the leaker to get so many pilots. I'm so surprised how different a lot of it is, despite matching the overall plotline of the first episode. It shows that they were still hammering out the characters and the plotlines but at the same time so many key components were there! Amity being included was a huge surprise, especially with the potential romantic subtext with her and Luz. That took forever to lay out in the show it seemed like something that would have been developed later but now we know it was there the entire time!

It goes the same with a lot of the core elements of the characters, People seeing Luz for who she really is, is a major plot line and theme of the show and they had such a nice moment in the pilot with Eda complimenting Luz's art.

It's so interesting to see how the pieces of the puzzle were start to be put together but how they moved and you can understand a lot of the choices made, dimensional travel being worked out to give a reason why Luz has to stay. Lilith being given a more antagonistic role instead of being the principal so they could really drive that sibling rivalry aspect. I think at this point they hadn't really figured out what the emperors deal was and what Eda's curse entailed.

It's gonna be CRAZY how many AU's this creates imagining what the show would be like if it went in the direction of this pilot. Like what if Luz was traveling back and forth to the demon realm with Amity and the drama it would cause back in the human realm with Luz knowing Amity's secret. A world were Eda is forced by her curse to be an Agent for the emperor being forced to trick or backstab Luz.

It's such an old feeling watching this. I feel the same butterflies I got watching the original show but it's feels so off so different like I got a glimpse at another universe. I'm super glad I got to see it though, I just hope nothing negative happens out of it of course, but I feel like the show is long past any point of a pilot leak being harmful to it or the creators.

honestly christianity really hit the jackpot with "jesus christ" rolling off the tongue as an expletive so well. the number one problem with fantasy settings is that whatever names you come up with to take in vain will never hit as well as "jesus christ"

We honestly just need to stop trying to make criteria for what being nonbinary is point blank. I really don't give a shit if people think this would obscure the term into uselessness because right now the concept of a nonbinary person is a skinny person who transitions into elfish androgyny, typically thought to also be white and afab by default. Which excludes, like, the vast majority of people who are nonbinary to serve some imagined ideal of a third gender
