hey! glad to see you’re good :)) i wanted to ask on your opinion on people using your interpretation of egon as inspiration for fics. i totally get if you don’t feel comfortable with the idea, but the movies/comics/novelizations only give us so much and you just write him so well!

hi! i was just wondering what were ur reasonings for giving egon the middle name zephaniah and making it so that he only knows terminology up to 1991? idk if it comes from ghostbusters media i haven’t seen yet or if they’re ur own headcanons but i was curious and i’d love to know! especially since zephaniah is such a cool name. love ur blog!!!

yeah so I don’t think he’s got a clear middle name in canon

but I wanted to make a clear nod to egon being jewish and thought that zephaniah was suitably jewish and kind of a quirky/cool name! also zephaniah was a prophet which is sick

egon’s knowledge only going up to 1991 is bc that’s when this rp is set! …or actually 1992, now that the new year has come around.

Hi sorry, just curious into if/how you go about getting into character for writing as Egon

Hey, my first ask! Neat!

Yeah, I have a couple different ways of getting into character. I wanna make sure that I’m being as true to Egon and the franchise as possible. It’s no fun if it doesn’t ring true, right?

I like to listen to Harold Ramis’ Ghostbusters-centric interviews so that I can get into the brain of the guy playing Egon. Because ultimately Egon is only Like That because of Harold, ya know?

I also watch some compilations of Egon being Egon. I have a video of all his voice lines from the video game that’s very useful for getting his “voice” down. Sometimes I play it while I’m writing for him because it’s hard to mischaracterize him while I’ve literally got Harold Ramis’ voice directly in my earholes.

And in general, if I can’t hear it in my head coming out of Egon’s mouth, I don’t write him saying it. He’s got a couple speech patterns that I’ve picked up on and try to imitate in my writing. Or I like to listen to the score/soundtrack for the movie if I’m not listening to an interview.

Egon’s also the same MBTI type as me (INTP), so that makes it way easier to get into his head.

And if I don’t know something that he would know, I do a lot of research to make sure it’s accurate to what Egon would say on the topic.

ok i just re-ordered egon’s queue so that answers to asks post this weekend, which is way closer to the date they were submitted. he’s got a new crop of them to answer so those will probably post monday/tuesday 👍
