“Fellas, c’mon... Let’s not be unreasonable, hm?”
Well, this was quite a scene, wasn’t it? He’d hoped the move to a different city might mean reduced crime rates, but it seemed like things just couldn’t ease up for long. Somewhere, somehow, someone was going to make the decision to mug some poor guy in the streets, and he was going to have to step in.
Give or take a few couple dozen people coming out from the rafters, some more well-dressed than others. Seriously, what?
“I take it... you were expecting me to show up here, or something?”
One particularly gaudy-looking gentleman stepped forward with a rather menacing glint in his eyes. By now, the person who was being mugged had long since fled for their life.
“We been gettin’ a lotta trouble from you’se ‘hero’ types. Causin’ a right mess for our line ‘a work. Figured we’d make an example out of one ‘a ya, show we mean business.” He cracked his wrists, sliding a pair of brass knuckles on. “We already got some electric golden freak punchin’ our boys through walls, we gotta draw ‘da line somewhere. So, you gotta do, pretty boy.”
“That’d explain the welcoming committee here.” Naturally, the wizard didn’t seem particularly bothered by his situation. For a moment, he’d pause, looking above the scenery, before glancing back at the thugs surrounding him. “...You mind if I ask you a question?”
Relatively nonplussed by the sudden request, the thug tilted his head a bit. “What’s that?”
“How much thought did you put into this?” His Driver’s already active, the Flame Ring going straight for the scan. “Not much, I’d bet. Especially given the... Ah, well, I’ll just let you look up and realize for yourself.”
And while that distraction’s going, he’s going to let his Driver handle the rest of the talking.
“FLAME, PLEASE!”

A volleyball tournament where you can go all out against your adversaries? What could possibly go wrong? Well, a bunch of things, in fact, which is why Battler hasn’t really gone all out at all so far. By some miracle, he’s managed to convince his partner to do the same, but he dreads that won’t hold much longer, much to their next adversaries’ woe.
Well, the people before him do seem a bit stronger than the folks he and Abel have faced so far, but would even they be able to hold off against potentially ludicrous reality bending from his part AND merciless raw strength from Abel’s? He doesn’t think so.
“Uh, before we start, do you folks have any sort of capping you’d like us to follow, power wise? Like ‘no summoning extra players’ or ‘no using powers strong enough to destroy the arena’. I’m cool with anything.”
Nothing would have her blood racing like a healthy competition. nothing, that was to say, other than no-holds-barred healthy competition. How fortunate that her donut-enthused companion be a man of great skill and power, with a significant portion at his disposal. She reached up, meeting the palm of his hand with her own.
“An excellent victory, Haruto. How fortunate that we could be partners - let us rise all the way to the top!”
Their most recent opponents had put up their best, unfortunately for they, falling short of the mark. Not previously had there been an opportunity to flex her recently restored mana burst, even if far short of its maximum potential. It was ideal, to say the least, in utilizing as part a tournament which would allow such abilities.
The next opponents, they had located after a decent break, and with sufficient moments before their bout were scheduled to begin. Saber’s hands cupped about the volleyball twitched; to hear such a question, to accept the offer of handicap. She could never bear such a thought; it would be disgraceful. Though the examples supplied would not go by without note; abilities sounding within the realm of capable by Servants, yet he spoke with concern that they may overwhelm any who may face them full-force. was that to insinuate they be beyond league which Servants may reach? His friendly warning stumbled into incentive - if she could best them, it would be a great triumph to brandish before the red Archer and blue Lancer she knew well.
“Oh? I do hope your concerns do not come from a place of arrogance? Needless to say, it shall be no problem. We will be giving it our all, and would expect the same of our adversaries”.
⮡ @belssiah → sperorevoco → ingoldentent
“I hope you can still say that in three minutes. It’s been really boring so far. I’ve just been out here sweating for nothing…”
Despite the calm and non-caring vibe he tended to give off, the true nature of the King of Bel was that of an ungodly competitive child. It wasn’t a pride, but rather born from a desire to wring as much enjoyment out of an individual thing as he could. Personally he would have preferred to have entered alone. It would have possibly given him an actual challenge. He’d even considered putting the Equalizer on to give the contenders thus far some level of chance, but decided he wanted to keep winning for now, that hopefully someone could stand up to him and his partner later down the line.
“But a fight against another king… I couldn’t dare hold back could I? I’ll show you a power that will make you bend the knee like all others have before you. No matter the battlefield, if I were to give even a hint of restraint, the War of Bel would start all over again for my lack of resolve.”
Or so he said. He just wanted to play a game really, and finally he had an excuse to give it an effort. He wasn’t about to go ripping apart the bounds or reality (yet) but he’d certainly give a certain level of true demon power worthy of his title.
“Oh yeah and you’re cool too other guy.”
@sperorevoco > ingoldentent > @sanctummilitis
“Make me feel like the court jester a little more, why don’t you...”
Even if it was something as simple as beach volleyball, he could tell his opponents weren’t going to be easy to beat. He couldn’t tell much about the redhead who suggested the handicap, but his partner’s response radiated some certain pride. He might’ve not had any kind of senses to tell, but if Haruto had to take a guess, the blue-haired kid wasn’t just bringing up that ‘War of Bel’ bit because he some kind of chuunibyou. Even if he was, they’d made it this far, so they obviously weren’t just some run-of-the-mill scrubs.
He couldn’t honestly say he hadn’t considered taking the two up on their offer, but, before she even answered, he figured well enough his partner’s burning competitive spirit wouldn’t allow that. Seeing her in action for the games they’d played in, Saber definitely struck him as the type who’d look a charging bull in the eyes and run straight through it. Admirable in most circumstances, a little scary in some others.
“Well, if that’s how we’re doing this, I guess I can take the kid gloves off too.”
Sliding the Flame Ring on his finger, he scanned his belt to activate his Driver. The wizard hadn’t had to use his Rider form yet, since most of their opponents had been NPCs without much power to them, but something told him not to hold back against these two.
He didn’t really feel like losing today, either.

Jet skiing wasn’t exactly his forte--in fact, he was more partial towards his bike if anything. Still, he couldn’t deny that when one watched a real expert glide through the racing course, giving it a shot definitely seemed like a fun venture.
He’d approached the course with a mindset of ‘sure, why not?’, and while he’d started to get the hand of riding one, he’d spent just as much time getting flung into the water as he had staying balanced on the jet ski. At least now he seemed to be picking up the general idea--enough to properly drive one without instantly falling off, anyways.
He’d just finished watching someone else do a rather dramatic flop into the water when he noticed the blue-haired boy a slight distance away, looking wistfully at the practice area. Did he want to give it a shot?
“Hey! No need to let me or the others make you nervous--water’s great, actually!” He sat confident and balanced on his ski, keeping it steady amidst the gentle movement of the waves. “You wanna come give ‘em a try?”

Truthfully, if Lucina could move, she would. It’s not that she hated this ward, but it just didn’t fit her all that much, really. She preferred Cotes and Archimedes the most, but she decided she would need to make do with the ward she was placed in. Lucina was not one to really be picky about where she lived; a house was a house and a roof was a roof. She would adjust in due time.
It was odd hearing the doorbell ring, mainly because the princess hadn’t expected any company at this hour. Her roommates were gone for the day and she was the only one around. Could it be someone was looking for them? She wasn’t sure, but she wasn’t the type to ignore someone in need, so getting up from the table she sat at, Lucina opened the door.
… To find a very familiar face with a warm, nonchalant smirk on his face.
Of course, it was returned with a warm smile of her own, there was no doubt about that. Haruto had been one of Lucina’s close friends back in the other city and to see that he was still around and doing well was always good to see.
“Not at all, Haruto. You know that you could not interrupt me, even if I was busy with something. I always have spare time for you.”
The blue haired swordsman stepped out of the way, offering him entry into the house.
“Please, come in. Is there something amiss? You do seem to only show up when trouble brews.”
Well, that was a relief. He’d have felt kind of dumb if she wasn’t home. Thankfully, as he could clearly see now, his luck had held up. Taking her offer, he’d step into the home, taking in the interior design as he did so.
“Nope, no apocalyptic scenarios today. Just your friendly neighborhood wizard stopping by to check in.” Seeing as the living room was right at the entrance, he naturally moved there in search of a seat. This was probably going to be a somewhat long talk. “Huh, lot roomier in here than the Cotes Ward’s housing. I assume you’re holding up just fine, here?”
He’d give her a moment to respond, of course, before he continued.
“But yeah, the reason I’m here is pretty straightforward. I’d been kind of sporadically popping in and out that old city for a while. Haven’t had time to get a firm timeline on anything, or figure out what’s going on. I figured you were the best person to help me get up to speed. Especially on, well, whatever all this place is about.”

@sanctummilitis
Ah, finally. He’d been scouring the entire city for one of these for a while.
With a new city, came a new layout. And with a new layout, it meant he’d need to spend time familiarizing himself with things. Particularly, the locations for any and all shops stocked with donuts. Most wouldn’t expect it based on his appearance, but the wizard was particularly fond of the round pastries. Specifically ones lightly dusted in plain, powdered sugar. They had a certain nostalgic value to him, and over time, they’d become a fairly common treat for the mage. It helped that he spent his mana through pretty frequently and that the sugar was most definitely adept at replenishing his reserves.
Unfortunately, he was running into something of a problem.
“Sorry pal, but we’re fresh out.”
It seemed like every single donut stand in the local area, no matter where, was completely out. Not even just in his particular favorite, in just about every kind he dared to check for. From the plain flavors, all the way up to the extravagant and experimental--not a single one was left. Typically, he’d have just chalked it up to lousy luck, but from passerby rumors, it seemed like there was something more to the mystery.
It didn’t take him long to figure out the culprit. In fact, they seemed almost proud of their hoard. Like a dragon with a giant pile of treasure. Only the treasure was donuts and the dragon was a a 5-foot-tall girl.
“You... Uh...” How should he approach her? That amount of donuts looked almost lethal to any ordinary human being. He could only presume this girl secretly possessed some horrible, frightening power. “I’m gonna assume you’re the one who’s been emptying out the street vendors’ stock... Are you, uh, planning to eat all of those?”
She couldn’t actually be planning to eat all of those.

The Fibonacci ward definitely had an interesting aesthetic to it. He’d heard a lot about ‘steampunk’ as a visual style, and to see it in person, he wouldn’t deny he found a degree of charm to it. (Even if he wondered a few times if he’d somehow wandered into a clock, with all the turning gears and gadgets.)
Admiring the scenery wasn’t why he was there, though.
The ring at the house’s door would seem fairly sudden. At this hour, the housing area was mostly quiet, with everyone having departed to take care of some business or another. Really, when he pressed the button at the door, he was operating mostly on a hunch. As calm as he was, he wouldn’t deny the slight tension as he waited for a response.
Though, eventually, the door would open for the unexpected guest. And when it did, he’d do what he always did: offer a warm, nonchalant smirk.
“Hey. I’m, uh, not interrupting anything, am I?”

“VERY NICE, THUNDER!”
Arcing lightning surged forward, vaporizing every monster in its path. Standing on the other end of the lighting’s path, before the fading sigil which released it, was a rather tired-looking wizard. Just how many of these things had he blown away by now? He was starting to worry.
On the other side of him, there was a rather... unhelpful witch. The two had met under a chance encounter, and had since been fighting their way back to one of the nearby safe zones. Unfortunately, despite displays of magic like the one he just unleashed, it seemed the invaders didn’t have any plans to let up on their assault.
“Urgh, you keeping track of time? Starting to worry I’ll time out of my magic before these things go down...”

So far, the battlefield had been a bit of a wild mess. That was to be expected, given the city was still essentially building itself. Random pieces scattered here and there, it gave the impression another monster or beast could jump out at any moment.
Though, while he thought ‘any’, he hadn’t really expected something this close to home to show up.
“Ghouls?” He spotted the humanoid Phantoms a short distance away, flailing about as they typically did. “I’d better not see any other Phantoms around... Definitely not a good sign.”
Amidst the Ghouls’ mindless ransacking, he noticed a single, white-haired individual caught in the strife. The imp-like Phantoms were beginning to surround them.
“Ah, that’s even worse.”
It wouldn’t take him long to get there. He was just hoping that the stranger could handle themselves long enough for him to intervene.
