actuaally fuuckingggg hate people who dont like art in any meaningful way unless its a drawing of batman mixed with superman or some shit. All those videos where people "destroy modern art" by putting a random object in a museum and insulting people when they take pictures of it are so irritating. Like yeah im sure some of the people taking pics are kind of annoying but most people are just trying to find greater meaning and beauty in things especially when theyre in a museum specifically to do that. You arent badass for not liking art youre just boring and refuse to find something interesting or beautiful in things you have already decided you hate

Vic Chesnutt - Left to His Own Devices

I love Vic Chesnutt, to the point where I'd call him one of my favorite, if not my favorite, artists. This album, however, it kind of bad yet still charming. It was born out of Vic buying and experimenting with his own recording equipment, but you can tell that he doesn't really know what he's doing with it. Perhaps, in his mind, that was the joke. Regardless, I could revisit this; it's not unlistenable, it's more "so bad it's good."

MJ Lenderman - MJ Lenderman

This was quite phenomenal. It reminds me of Vic Chesnutt, Jason Molina, Cat Power, and really just the others that perfect the slowcore genre. I listened to Manning Fireworks when I went through albums I missed last year and wasn't blown away, but after listening to this I realize that MJ Lenderman may be the new master of slowcore. This just sounds amazing, though I will certainly need time to learn the lyrics. Highly recommend.

This album continues a trend I have with Jason Molina’s early music; I really want to like it, but I can’t get past his voice. I have this problem with Songs: Ohia, too, and it’s such a weird thing to get filtered by considering many artists I like have weird or broken singing voices, and especially considering I adore his later music. If you can get past that, though, this albums offers a great deal of magnificence. The lyrics, as always for Molina, are phenomenal, as is the basic guitar. It reminds me very heavily of a Vic Chesnutt album, adding even more to my desire to get over Molina’s young voice.
