THE        DUST        SETTLES  :                a        ringing        in        his        ears        making        it        that        much        more        difficult        to        find        his        way        out        of        the        building  .                she        was        called                (        he        knows        that        much                -                they        told        him        so        )  .                there’s        a        limp        in        his        step  ,                each        one        getting        progressively        more        painful                (        it’s        broken  ,                he        takes        note        )  .                spiderman  !                spiderman  !                the        echo        of        voices        pulls        him        back        into        reality  .                there’s        a        light        at        the        end        of        his        tunnel        of        vision  .                there’s        a        pain        in        his        head                -                aching        &        pounding  ,                but        he        pushes        through  .                out        of        a        door  ,                the        surroundings        of        new        york        around        him  .                he’s        out  ,                free  .                eyes        squint        to        look        around                (        police  ,                flashing        lights  ,                they        make        it        hard        to        focus        )                trying        to        find        her  .                        ❝        spiderman  !        ❞                it’s        her        voice  ,                he        knows        it        like        he        knows        his        own  .                head        turns        slowly        to        meet        her  ,                running        towards        him  .                arms        open        &        she        finds        her        way        in  .                he        breathes        a        sigh        of        relief  ,                hands        gripping        onto        her        as        his        head        burrows        into        her        neck  .                it’s        the        first        thing        in        this        whole        day        to        finally        make        him        feel        alive  .
