Tengen is the Squad’s Dad

So what I was not prepared for was Uzui Tengen showing how utterly prepared for fatherhood he is. Like, yes I knew he was really caring and mindful and all that but this man at only 23 is already SO SET to be a dad! The first like ten minutes of the episode is literally him just wrangling his children in and he does it so expertly even though he’s freaking out. Look at this! 

Dad says stay in the car. They immediately jump out. Dad gets mad and goes into round up mode. 

You have the good oldest child staying with you, just trying to help. Tengen is over here yelling at one child to stay where they are and not wander off but they’re distracted and not listening and one of the other ones runs off so he has to leave the other two to go get that one. Comes back to the “oldest” and middle child is gone! 

And look at how panicked he is that Zenitsu is gone, that is 100% “WHERE IS YOUR BROTHER!” Face! Finds him, sees what’s going on and just hits him, literally a “DON’T WANDER AROUND!” and drags him back with a “You’re too young for this”. Kyojuro adopted them as his little siblings, Tengen adopted them as his kids, even if he won’t admit it. And Tengen takes full on responsibility of them like a proper guardian. He intentionally makes their makeup ridiculously ugly so that patrons won’t approach them, he asks the women in charge to put them in manual labor positions which would keep them out of eyesight most of the time or make them unappealing because then they’re implied to be “beefy like a man”. When Zenitsu doesn’t show up we get this:

Tengen admits that he has made a mistake and has put them in real danger and takes ownership of that, he admits that the desire to find his wives led to bad choices, namely he let three young boys come into a place far too dangerous for them for multiple reasons. He doesn’t blame anybody for it and completely owns that wrong choice as the adult of this group. And he still puts their safety first, “You two need to leave immediately, it’s not safe for you. I’ll handle this”. Because he is the adult and recognizes them as the young children that they are. For Tengen it doesn’t matter that they’re Demon Slayers or what rank they are. They are children and this is an Upper Rank demon. They also lost Kyojuro only a few months ago, Tengen hasn’t forgotten that. And someone who was also younger than Tengen. So here I honestly think Tengen is remembering that as well, Kyojuro protected the boys from an Upper Rank demon at the cost of his life, of course Tengen wouldn’t want to put them in that same situation, because if he fails to protect them they might actually die to this demon they haven’t even seen yet. For Tengen it’s not an issue of “can they fight” it’s the fact that they shouldn’t have to face an Upper Rank and shouldn’t be in that situation so he is very beautifully continuing to fulfill a guardian role of taking the responsibility and removing the boys from the risk. They end up getting involved anyway but Tengen didn’t want that, and through the whole arc, even during the fighting Tengen responsibly puts their safety first.    I appreciate so much that Tengen never tries to “hide” that he cares either, or hide that he feels responsible, he owns these things and its just really fun to see evidence that yeah, when he has his own kids, he is going to be a flamboyantly amazing father.

I have been wondering, if Sebastian Michaelis is supposed to look like someone familiar to Ciel.

Yes, Sebastian looks like Ciel’s father:

Yana once said that there is a reason that they look so much alike but that reason will probably not be revealed in the manga.

My assumption is that when Sebastian appeared before Ciel he chose an appearance that would make it easier for Ciel to trust him. It might have been unconsciously but I believe that, just like Sebastian appeared as a butler (since that’s convenient), he also looks similar to Vincent because, besides a butler, Ciel also needs a parent.

i made this last year for sengensen week day 5, for the prompt post-canon. never posted it because my perfectionist tendencies got in the way, but better late than never, right? :)

I strongly entertained the idea of Loid being a girl dad but I wanted to tell this story.

i will absolutely never get over how loid's body reacts to seeing yor's calm smile, it's like all of the tension and guard that he held all day completely melted away the moment he saw his wife. his body physically gave out because he knew he was safe omg i'm not okay

I can imagine Anya begging to be a big sister and Loid and Yor blushing furiously, I think a lot of young kids beg their parents for a baby sibling and I can sooo picture Anya doing this and seeing said sibling my picture is a brother and looking at it and being like “Anya does not like this baby” LMAO

Some fans hope that Loid and Yor will eventually have a biological child.

I personally enjoy the status quo; although they don't think they are family, they are growing into it because of how much they desire a peaceful life, a safe place, which is family. Adding a biological baby would drastically change the theme of the story, but I can understand why people like this.

Wow, what an interesting topic!

This thing about a second biological child for the Forgers is one of those topics that is very recurrent in the fandom within fanfics. And, let's be honest, we are all waiting for Twilight and Yor to realize once and for all what they feel and for the Forger family to become something super real. I have seen many comment how a biological baby would be proof that this family is something totally real, and that they will have a promising future of peace together (or that is what we hope)….

Although, on the other hand, I have also seen theories that address the possibility that Twilight and Yor are sterile due to their jobs. Yes, I know, it sounds strong! But it would make sense taking into account the nature of their work, and although Endo is capable of touching very dark themes in the manga, I don't think he is going in that direction… (at least for now).

Now, let's talk about Anya:

A new baby always brings a brutal and lasting change to any family. And if we're talking about the Forgers, we absolutely have to think about Anya. She's an adopted child who has gone through the trauma of abandonment multiple times, and she lives with that constant insecurity of feeling that her worth depends on being "useful" for her father's mission or on not being seen as a weirdo because of her powers

Let's remember that in the past, Anya has already felt insecure even towards Yor, believing that Yor might steal her role in the mission to save the world and help her dad. Luckily, she's four years old, and she loves her mom so much that these feelings don't last long…

Anya is a noble, sweet, and loving child. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the idea of a little sibling made her all "waku waku" with excitement. But there's also the possibility that, due to some misinterpreted comment or a thought that slips into her mind, she might feel displaced… that she'd believe a biological baby would make her feel forgotten or abandoned again.

Obviously, Yor and Loid would surely realize this at some point and make it clear to her that it doesn't matter if there's a blood tie, and that a sibling won't change how much they love her even a tiny bit. (Especially if, by that point, they are already a real family without secrets).

Loid and Yor as parents of a baby

The idea of seeing Yor and Twilight facing parenthood not just with a 6-year-old girl (who seems like 4 or 5), but with a baby, is also super appealing.

Imagine Yor experiencing motherhood from the biological and hormonal process, and Twilight… well, probably suffering more stress than necessary having to deal with a human even harder to understand than his own daughter. (Maybe Anya's telepathy would be his best tool there, don't you think?). We know both have very clear parental instincts, but they skipped the baby stage, which, let's be honest, has tons of challenges!

Endo has already given us possible clues.

And who do they contrast with?

The Desmonds! They are a "real" family, but one that is clearly plagued by darkness. Loid and Yor, despite their own imperfections and all the problems they have to solve, strive daily to make Anya happy and give her a childhood full of beautiful moments, something the Desmonds haven't achieved with their own biological children.

That said, the truth is that the Forger family, as it stands now, has a solid narrative structure. The addition of a second biological child, perhaps, isn't entirely "necessary" at this point in the story. Personally, I find it perfectly plausible that Twilight and Yor raise Anya as an only child, and I see nothing wrong with that! What's more, it could be a very powerful message about what it truly means to be a family.

Honestly, given the speed at which Endo develops the story (we're barely even touching on the possibility of a kiss from Yor to Loid!), I find it unlikely we'll see a fifth member of the Forger family… at least not anytime soon.

However, I definitely don't rule out that he might show us a time skip at the end of the story, where perhaps Twilight and Yor do decide to have a child. But this could heavily depend on the focus Endo wants to give it and what kind of "peace" or "ending" he provides for his characters when the story concludes. So, for me, the most probable scenario is that a biological child would only happen at the very end of the story… if Endo so chooses.
