IConsidering that katniss mentions that there was a year where the only weapons available were maces that the tributes had to bonk each other to death with. It's very likely that the gamemakers would put unusual weapons in the arenas and I have a few concepts for that

One of my ocs arena was inspired by the edo period Japan and had lots of Asian weapons in them

I headcanon that Brutus games were inspired by ww2 so there were bombs there as well as the usual weapons

And I have seen someone come up with an arena concept where there were gas bombs and gas masks

Considering how quick the capitol gets bored the gamemakers would absolutely go wild with either the arena designs or weapons in there or the environment

Would be interesting for there to be a year of the Games where the only weapons available are unpopular/uncommon ones. Giving the Career tributes little advantage (they would still have some, but just be less familiar with these).

Instead of swords, spears, knives, and arrows, there would be some more uncommon ones such as the morning star/mace (which I do headcanon is some D2 choice of weapons, but still rare).

Whips, flails, bats (like baseball), mallets, caltrops, kpingas, khopesh (technically a sword but rare), rakes, knuckle dusters/brass knuckles (making tributes have to fight head to head), and even chakrams would be the options.

I have an idea in my head of them katniss and cashmere doing a sleepover with the rescued Victors in my reclaimed au if you've seen my posts about it you know to help give them a sense of safety and calmness after they have been tortured and they all try to have fun despite all being completely tramatized and the girls all braid eachothers hair ( and take turns making headwear for Johanna) and then everyone starts a pillow fight . And it has such good vibes but district 13 is looking at them like: WTH are they doing ? ) but none of the victors care

Now obviously since she's one of the most desirable victors ( as well as the fact that misogyny is rampant in the capitol) her stylist obviously would dress her up in a way that sexualizes her for the capitol creeps with no regard to her personal style or if it's even comfortable for her

I was talking with @majorsoapfan about cashmere 's outfits specially her reaping outfit since it's likely the only outfit we see she'd pick for herself and give a hint to her personal style the comparison between her reaping outfit and the outfits her stylists put her in were very big because and in my opinion hints at how the capitol like to portray as because her reaping outfit was more out there style wise and kinda edgy with the fact that she's wearing what looks like a leather jacket and her pants were gaudy and colourful and she was completely covered compare that to how her parade outfit was basically as close as they can get with making her naked and her interview dress was figure hugging and short as well as minimalist with it's colour palette

So this gave some headcanons for her as I imagine that while cashmere genuinely loves fashion and dressing up she prefers her clothes to be more colourful and saturated and she mixes and matches different textures and colours and have a likeness to mixing feminine elements like ruffles and bows as well as shades of pink with more harsher fashion statements like platforms and leather, some spiked accessories and second skin tops underneath her clothes and I imagine her makeup is similar to Jules from euphorbia

This puts her in an interesting position in terms of her public image as by the standards of the capitol she's informal especially with the harsher aspects of her fashion ( and also the capitol of course would think of themselves as sophisticated and elegant) but by districts standards especially the poorer ones she's just as over the top as the capitol putting her in a kinda Mari Antoinette situation where she's judged and otherd by both classes . I also imagine that the children and teenagers of the capitol might admire her bold fashion and see her as very expressive and cool because of it she's Basically their equivalent of an alt icon and they might want to emulate her because they find her very free spirited and none conformist of course they don't know that she had her autonomy ripped away from her and she might have received complaints from capitol parents because of it for 'influencing their children badly '

But that's very much the point cashmere is trying to do her clothes are like armour to her she knows that people would look at her either way so they might as well be looking at her clothes and not her body and she'd try to be as unappealing as possible to the capitolists by her fashion as she isn't confirming to the elegant and seductive narrative they have of her. she'd act like she's just enjoying her wealth by her outfits and while in a way she does she also is dressing that way to pry the capitol greedy eyes away from her and unnerves them I imagine she receives outfits sent by the capitol but she adds her own pieces to them and doesn't wear them the way she's supposed to unlike Johanna who became hypersexual as a way to cope with the abuse she's receiving and finnick who had to lean into his flirty side, cashmere tries to cling to what little privacy she can have by covering up with her clothes and I imagine that while she has to act a certain way while In public the capitol pervs would still be drolling over her even if she's not acting flirty it's something that a lot of women struggled with so she might as well try scaring them off by her clothes

Also I decided that it's up to a victor if they want to keep or replace their stylists and prep team after a year of the victors coronation and cashmere had hers fired because of the Clothes they kept putting her in as well as the fact that they were aggressive with beautifying her and spread a lot of disgusting rumours around her and gloss 's relationship , unlike haymitch cashmere is capable of taking care of herself so she doesn't need a prep team to prepare her for public appearance though I headcanon they came back as her stylists for the third quarter quell just to spite her

Anyway I have an entire mood board dedicated to her fashion and that's some of the things I imagine she'd wear.

So I was thinking about the type of threats that the careers experienced in the other sectors of the 75th arena and then I heard that one of them is implied as having dangerous plants and THEN BOOM this was written. If it feels clunky it's because I wrote while I was on anaesthetics and before sleeping I honestly forgot that I even wrote it and only found out about it when I was checking my docs the next day and I was like: wait? I finished that? )

Is this just me or does it feel like Mockingjay is the forgotten awkward middle child of the trilogy? Like I know that it's where the most soul crushing tragedies happen but I still find it kinda amusing it's so not discussed often except when it comes to the epilogue and how much everyone cried

Like you have people headcanoning a lot about the tributes and victors and mentors from tbosas but when it comes to squad 451 ...... do people even remember that they exist? I myself forgot about them

It's probably just me who thinks that way

Yeah there is an underlying misogyny there but at this poàint we know that sexesim is common within the capitol . I also imagine the same happening with the victors it's part of my headcanons

There is a slight undertone of sexism within the Gamemakers having the boys perform first in the private sessions and scores.

Because everything else is "ladies first," such as getting names drawn and the interviews (with exception to the chariot rides because they are paired). The girls are given the reaping because, maybe, it's more traditional, and girls have always been the ones more historically taken, sold, used as bargaining chips, etc. They are also given the interviews because dressing up, glamor, and looking pretty is a girl thing, right?

But the boys get to show off their physical skills first because strength and skills in that department are a boy thing, right? The Gamemakers seem to be more excited or interested in seeing what the boys can do (considering plenty were paying attention to Peeta enough to give him an 8, while barely anyone was for Katniss. And sure, she went last, so they were ready to wrap it up, but so did he).

I think Suzanne Collins wrote it this way, so Katniss' score of 11 could be read last and it be a surprise, rather than it being a commentary on the expectations and stereotypes of girls vs. boys, but there can be an accidental connection made there.
