Talk to your house
Your house is a sentient being with it’s own spirit and soul. Some people identify this spirit as their household deities or friendly house spirits. But some people have altogether forgotten how important the spirit of their house is. Talk to your house. Houses that have been ignored tend to be dull, tired and susceptible to hauntings and negative energies.  So talk to your house, listen to its aches and pains, say hello. Tell it that you come in peace, tell it that you are there to listen to it speak. Be grateful to your house. And watch the energies of your home transform themselves into joy.

Spirit Communication Tips
Since I just opened my spirit companion shop recently, I wanted to share some tips for you guys! These tips will generally help in connecting with unbound spirits, but can be useful in spirit communication with companions as well!
Things to keep in mind before doing any sort of spirit work:
Believe in yourself, belief holds power
Let go of doubt, stop worrying about accuracy
Your intent holds incredible power, be aware of it
Feel and sense first, analyse last
Release all expectations of what will happen
Release all tension and preconceived notions
Balance your energy, empty your mind
Research personality ties of colours/elements/etc
Don’t rely on divination, especially not at first
As for the communication with a spirit:
Find your intent for spirit communication. Attempt to picture it in your mind, try to perceive it the best way you can. It does not need to be anything specific, but what you think is what you invite, more or less. Understand well what you want to draw to you, and make sure you don’t let your mind wander while you are doing this. If you wish to communicate with a companion, picture them, their energy, and what you want out of the communication with them.
You can also create a visual space in your mind to have your conversation in. This is more along the lines of astral travel, but you will receive the same sort of impressions, it just might appear more fluid. Typically this takes a lot more focus though and you’ll miss out on impressions outside of visual impressions. I don’t suggest this for communicating with a spirit that you are unfamiliar with.
Associate your intent with something physical. If you want to communicate with a spirit that is emotionally forward, you will probably want a spirit of the water element. Having a cup or bowl of water will assist in drawing a spirit of that nature to you by giving them another medium. Be as creative as you wish with this, whatever physically expresses your desire for spirit communication will do. In the case of a spirit companion, this will suffice as an offering or a gift to them!
Contact can come through in small pieces, or large chucks of information, and is often garbled and hard to process. Let the information come to you but don’t process it as it does. Also be patient! When just starting out you might only get the impression of a colour, or a feeling! Do not be discouraged.
Spirit communication can happen by request, but it can also happen quite randomly. Always be aware that a spirit can communicate with you at any time, if for whatever reason they are drawn to the activity you are doing, or your energy.
Some contact may seem insignificant, but don’t dismiss any impressions, even if they are simply of a certain colour or smell, they most always have a deeper meaning
Contact may be visual, audible, or sensory, don’t dismiss the medium of communication either. It can be a combination of all of the above, or even just one of the above.
Contact might not be triggered when you expect it to! Even a change in the weather, or a song on the radio can pave the path to having an impression or contact from a spirit. If you’re not seeing results, spice things up a bit, try a slightly different approach!
Go with your first thought of belief, don’t second guess or question anything, not yet anyway. Feel and sense first.
Pay attention to patterns and coincidence! Having a good understanding of mathematical probability will help you distinguish when a spirit is influencing your environment and when they are not. This is particularly useful during divination! I always know a spirit isn’t communicating with me, or is not at a good energy level to communicate because the results are random and don’t follow a pattern that makes sense. So I think it is important to keep an eye out for patterns and coincidence in your life, even though it is not directly obvious as communication, it is.
Write it all down, don’t think about it just write down everything that comes to mind, scribble all the impressions that come to you no matter how much sense they make at the time. They’re all puzzle pieces to a puzzle that you’ll process later, might be months later. Do not dismiss anything as not spirit contact if that is the first thing that comes to mind. You do not need to confirm it, just write it down! If it becomes a pattern that is your confirmation.
Hold off on divination until you have experienced impressions from a spirit, and have some understanding of their energy and a pattern of their behaviour. When starting to confirm your spirit communication with divination, ask questions you already know the answer to! It will take time to channel the spirit through a reading, so don’t ask hard questions until you see a pattern of accurate results. I wish it was as simple as just doing a reading with a spirit you don’t know, but it takes familiarity for an extremely accurate reading.
Practice all of this often, even if you don’t get results, results and better accuracy come with time. It takes a considerable amount of energy to receive information from a spirit, which only comes with practice and becoming accustomed to doing so.
I hope this assists at least some of you in your spirit work and with your companions! Don’t forget that my ask box is always open, no matter how silly your question might seem!

Fairy, Faerie, Fey, Fae and Fay
Fairy:
is derived from Latin word “fatum,” meaning “the fates” and the Old French word fae and faerie meaning land, realm, or a characteristic activity (i.e. enchantment).
the standard modern spelling of the word faerie (as faerie is a pseudo-archaism.)
The word fairy came about to differentiate between warriors and human sized faeries in other works of literature. Fairies were delicate and tiny, often found in children’s books.
Faerie:
circa 1300
from Old French faerie “land of fairies, meeting of fairies; enchantment, magic, witchcraft, sorcery”
from fae “fay,” from Latin fata “the Fates,” plural of fatum “that which is ordained; destiny, fate,”
to the word faie was added the suffix -erie (Modern English -(e)ry), used to express either a place where something is found (fishery, heronry, nunnery) or a trade or typical activity engaged in by a person (cookery, midwifery, thievery).
Fae, Fay and Fey:
Fae: plural for faerie
Fay: to fit, to join together.
Fey: fated to die
*Note: If one Google images “fairy” they will find lighthearted images of Tinkerbellesque creatures. If one google images “faerie” they will find darker images closer tied to that of lore and legends.
Other titles or names for Faeries:
Fair Folk, Good Neighbours, The Green Children, The Old People,The Silent People, Elf (ves)

PSA about working with dragons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like humans, you can’t peg dragons as “good” or “evil.” Their personality is influenced by their (occasionally tragic) backstory and culture. That said…
Study the lore, but don’t be overly reliant on it. Lore is not law. For example, Slavic zmeu dragons are stereotypically villainous, but I have one as my knight/familiar, and he’s a very good man. Likewise, zmaj dragons are stereotypically heroic, but I met a dangerous trickster zmaj I eventually had to put down… hilariously enough, with the help of the zmeu.
Some dragons, like spirits, don’t belong in any human culture. Think of it as encountering new, undocumented species. Some of them even come from different planes and dimensions altogether.
Be careful how you treat them. This is related to the first and second points. For example, Chinese dragons are water and weather gods. Don’t treat them like pets or servants. Juvenile Chinese dragons can cast death curses simply by wishing death upon the offending human. The adults are capable of much, much more. Do not screw with them. You will get wrecked.
Most dragons are proud creatures. No, this is not to say that they’re arrogant or will need to be buttered up with praise with every single sentence. This means that they will not let you stomp on their dignity. Yes, even the chill ones. They will fight back.
Don’t put yourself down, either. Many cultures see dragons as great creatures. Some people may see themselves as “puny humans” or “lower lifeforms” compared to them and some dragons might encourage this viewpoint. For your own safety, I strongly recommend against doing this. You are still wonderful and capable. If a dragon is abusive or demeaning towards you, don’t let it slide no matter how powerful or knowledgeable they are. Besides, putting yourself down gives room for other dragons or spirits in general to make YOU their pet/familiar.
All dragons are individuals. Get to know them personally, know what they like and dislike, as well as their strengths, weaknesses, etc. And while our experience with one individual of a species is knowledge, it is not law.
Source: I know like 4 dragons from different backgrounds and cultures, and work closely with 2 of them.

Spirit Contract: Wealth & Prosperity
Hi everyone,
Back in May I decided to write up and activate a spirit contract to bring some money into my life. I was let go from my job in April and was struggling to make ends meet. I decided I wanted to ask for enough to get by on for a little while because that would mean that I could make offerings to the spirits that were within my means as well. I believe in balance - I will ask for what I feel I can provide an equal “payment” for.
This is the contract that I created:
Tumblr media
The white part of the contract was a separate piece that was glued to the green sheet. The four gold corner pieces are also separate pieces, the undersides of which are marked with magical symbols. The back of the contract also had some magical symbols related to general blessings and specifically to wealth and prosperity.
I glued an i-ching coin to the contract to further the energy of this working. I chose to ask for $500 for 14 days of offering. The symbolism being that after you work for two weeks, you get a paycheque.
I put my name at the top and signed and dated the bottom. As per the agreement, I made daily offerings:
Tumblr media
I offered light (in the form of an LED tealight), salt (purifcation), water, rice, and sake (rice wine). I made the offerings in the morning and in the evenings I retrieved the offerings and used the salt, water, and rice in cooking that evening’s meal while drinking the sake.
The Results
About a week after I started making my daily offerings I received multiple results which I was not expecting:
Notice that I had been short-listed for a very good-paying job with the Feds (Canadian)
Notice that I had won a scholarship to attend a coding course (which will hopefully lead me to a good career)
A deposit of $900+ from employment insurance (which I had assumed I wasn’t eligible for)
I continued to make my offerings as per the contract and ended up making 15 offerings in total, one more than what was agreed to. This morning I retrieved the final offerings, concluded the contract, thanked the spirits for their presence, influence, and inspiration in my life and, by extension, the life of my husband (who also benefits from my prosperity).
In the coming days I will be enshrining this contract in my grimoire (”Book of Spirits”) where I will document this working. I have some ideas for future workings but I want to wait until after the Summer Solstice before I embark on any new spirit contract to give the residual spiritual presences in my home time to dissipate, ground, and return to the earth.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me an Ask and I’ll be happy to answer as best I can.
Cheers!

When working spirits, always remember: things which seem kind and pretty are trying to lure you in, to entice you. Things which seem scary and ugly are trying to drive you away. It is up to you to determine which is more dangerous.

Let’s Talk About Spirit Anchors
Tumblr media
What’s an Anchor?
An anchor is a physical object that a spirit uses to connect more easily to our plane. It’s their loading point, or a way to find a place/person more easily, or just something to help them get a better hold. They are connected to the anchor, but can move/travel freely from it if they wish. They’re bound to it in the more metaphorical sense, not literally.  Some people also use the word vessels, which seems to be the more common use on this site. I personally prefer the word anchor, because to me the word vessel connotates the spirit being held inside it, which often isn’t the case. I’ve also seen many people assume that spirits are trapped by vessels, which I don’t want my speech to imply. More often than not, in my experience, spirits choose their own anchor(s).
Common Anchors and Why They’re Chosen
Jewelry, bones, photographs, figurines, crystals, stuffed animals, and knick knacks are all common anchors! Jewelry seems to be the most popular amongst spirit workers because of its innate subtlety, but spirits can choose anything to latch onto. Often, it’s an object that they just really enjoy. They may like the feeling of a certain crystal, the cuteness of that plushy, or the elegance of that necklace. It may resemble something they used to own or resemble what they look like (or used to.)  For bones and photographs specifically, you’re more likely to find the spirits of animals and humans that have passed on from this plane. It could be their photo, or their bones! Or, it could be a photo of someone who resembles them/ an animal of the same species.
How to Use Anchors in Your Craft
Often, a spirit worker will help a spirit they trust find a suitable anchor, so that they can work more regularly with that spirit or ease their transition to working with someone else. This is a pretty common practice that you can see demonstrated with any spirit companion matchmaking service! But there are other ways to use them too. You can often find spirits in your daily life, just by trying to sense the objects around you when you’re out and about. A spirit may have already found an object and decided “Yup, this is mine” and set up shop. (Antique stores are great for this.) Once I saw a woman at a festival selling ethically-sourced bones, and ended up taking home a skull because I picked it up and my gut said, “there’s something inside this still.” I’ve found at least two spirits while shopping at Goodwill before, just hanging out with the beanie babies.  You can also reverse-engineer meeting a spirit by starting with the vessel. Find a vessel that is both suitable for your craft-style and the type of spirit you’re looking for, then go out to a place where you can expect that type of spirit. Do your usual spirit working stuff, and see if anybody is interested in companionship in exchange for the anchor you’re offering them. Bonus points, you can also give yourself anchors on the astral plane for all the same reasons a spirit may get one here! I tend to call them waypoints when I’m using them personally, but that’s just me.  I hope you find this info useful! As always, use protection and practice responsibly~

🔮Spirit Worker Tip🔮
If you’re planning to adopt a spirit from a tumblr shop, research the shop before spending any money on the spirit. What do the reviews say about the shop? Has the shop been involved in any drama? Does the shop follow all legal regulations for a metaphysical goods and services shop? Are the shop owners experienced? Do they steal artwork or other copyrighted material? Are the shop owners easy to contact and willing to answer questions? Are they open about their vetting process? There are many fake shops out there who take advantage of inexperienced spirit workers. With a little practice, you’ll be able to spot these red flags and avoid getting scammed.

Faery Symbols
Tumblr media
Holey Stones
A stone with a naturally formed hole though it. When peered into with one eye closed, you may see through glamours and obtain faery sight. Carry as a connection to the fae, good luck, or as a protection stone.
Tumblr media
The Faery Star
The seven points of the faery star represent earth, air, fire, water, above, below and within. It has been used for protection, dreams, opening portals to the faery world, and a symbol of faery land. Be careful what you mark with it as it is very powerful, and sacred to the fae.
Tumblr media
The Faery Cross
Said to be faery tears that fell to the ground and crystallised into Staurolite at the news of Christ’s death in one version, and faery tears caused by the destruction of nature, and an omen that iron machines and weapons would be used against the earth in another version. Carry for protection, dreamwork, grounding and anxiety.
Tumblr media
The Faery Triad
Oak, Mountain Ash and Hawthorn. Three sacred faery trees, these plants have strong magic qualities. When bound or grown together they form a powerful protection, and when separate they attract fae and may aid one in opening a door to faeryland. Carry as an amulet, or for faery blessings and connection with the fae. Plant by your home to invite fae and provide a strong ward.

Ancestor work, but with who?
~ Anyone can use this guide, but it’s through an Afrocentric perspective ~
Tumblr media
If you’ve started some ancestor work already, you may have noticed that you don’t necessarily get along with all of them… and some definitely don’t approve of your beliefs or practices nevermind being contacted by you in the first place. If you haven’t tried ancestor work yet, now you know this can be an issue.
One of the main goals of ancestor work is usually to form positive, mutually beneficial relationships with some of one’s ancestors, but that isn’t necessarily possible to do with just any ancestor you happen to have. So an essential aspect of successful and productive ancestor work is fine-tuning which ancestors you want to work with!
Who “counts” as an ancestor?
The term “ancestors” means different things in different traditions or cultures, but for most Afrocentric traditions it refers to all of your blood-related relatives who have passed on and been elevated to the spiritual status of “ancestor.” Some African cultures don’t believe that everyone becomes an ancestor after death, and some like the Yoruba believe that certain people get reincarnated into their living family line. But in general, one can assume that anyone who’s no longer living and who’s blood related to you is an “ancestor.”
What most people don’t seem to think about is that this extends going farther back than we could ever really trace or even truly imagine. Our ancestral connections just within our species go back more than hundreds of thousands of years. So naturally, that’s probably going to include some ancestors who were Christian somewhere down the line and/or ancestors who for other reasons wouldn’t respect or approve of your personal practices, beliefs, or lifestyle. However, the flip side of this is there’s almost a guarantee that far enough back your ancestral lines also include ancestors who practiced the traditional religions of their cultures. They might have even practiced magic as a part of that and been a skilled healer, diviner, priest/priestess, etc.
Setting terms & conditions for ancestor work
There are lots of different ways to go about this. Whatever method you choose, what’s important is that you are communicating which ancestors you want to work with (and if necessary also which ones are specifically excluded). Ancestor work is a branch of spirit work, and so the methodology behind this is actually very similar to the ways in many spirit workers perform a conjuring. Certain terms and conditions are set for the conjure, and the same principle can be applied to which ancestors you try to make contact with.
Just remember to be respectful in your tone, as these spirits are not just your family but also your elders! Ancestor work requires a certain level of humility and respect that can be difficult to muster but makes a huge difference for forming genuinely positive relationships with one’s ancestors.
Methods for specifying ancestors
For me personally, I have a written list of with the full names of all the known ancestors who I call on and specifically reach out to work with. I keep these lists physically on my ancestor altar at all times. Whenever I need to move and re-setup my ancestor altar, I read the names aloud and put the lists up by the altar to re-establish that particular connection with them. I know some people prefer to simply say the names out loud and don’t have them written.
If you don’t know some (or even any) of their names, that’s perfectly okay! I get around this problem by naming groups of ancestors. For example, “all my African ancestors” and “all my Geechee ancestors” are two ancestral groups that I have included on my lists. Beyond categories of regions or ethnicities, you could also make specifications like “all my honorable ancestors,” “all ancestors who wish to work with me,” etc.
You can shape your experience by coming up with what you want out of it. Ancestors don’t have to respond to you and certainly don’t have to help you, but you have every right to choose who you wish to interact with and call upon. If you do so and respectfully express a genuine interest in a connection, there’s always a good possibility for it! If you encounter an ancestor who you realize you simply cannot have a good relationship with, it’s okay to respectfully cut off these ties as well and stop being in contact.

Is Your Spirit A Thoughtform?
This post by Lethe and Acheron was written in collaboration with @scarletprophecies.
What is a thoughtform?
A thoughtform is a mass of energy given form, thought, and purpose by the creator. Their form and label depends on the creator of what purpose they take. It takes time and energy to create a thoughtform. You don’t just think of a character and wink them into existence. It’s your intention and energy spent to put into creation of a thoughtform that gives it a purpose, a face, a personality, etc. They are limited by what the creator knows even if given traits of having known something the creator doesn’t. You can read more about thoughtforms at the end of the post.
Why should I be looking out for thoughtforms?
A thoughtform, on its own, is not bad. They are not inherently dangerous, and if you are aware (or find out) that you are working with a thoughtform, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! The biggest problem, however, and the reason for this post, is that many times people will mistake the thoughtforms they work with for spirits/entities. There is a very clear difference, and these common signs will help you determine if the spirit or entity you are working with is actually a thoughtform that has been misidentified, either by you or another worker.
Working with thoughtforms and having thoughtform friends is okay! Just recognize that they are not spirits, and that a thoughtform might lack the free will or self-deterministic abilities that an entity might have. People try to pass them off as spirits or may mistake them as spirits, which is the problem.
Common Signs
Please note: this is not an all-encompassing list and that someone displaying any of these signs might not necessarily be a thoughtform. As always, it is important that you practice strong discernment skills and that you are realistic about who you are working with.
Your spirit lacks emotional depth and maturity alongside critical thinking skills. They are very one-dimensional, and they may have a very shallow personality.
The spirit doesn’t have a life outside of YOU. They never go anywhere else, or do anything else. They live with you, go everywhere with you, and never seem to leave.
Your spirit has no friends, hobbies, etc. They simply have You and You’re Special™.
The spirit is Perfect™ and you are perfectly compatible with each other. Nothing is ever wrong with them.
You know everything about the spirit after having met them very recently. Anything you find out about them is unsurprising. They lack private lives, thoughts, secrets, etc.
They have the best and worst qualities that you find appealing.
They tend to fall on extreme “anime tropes” as personality quirks. They started off as an OC, or they sound like they could be one.
They act the exact same age as you and/or have the same maturity level as you, no matter how old the spirit is.
Your mood and mental health both overly affect them. (It is normal for both of these things to affect your spirit working abilities, but they should not change the type of energy your perceive from an entity, for example).
They behave how you want them to or exactly how you do. They may act on what you think, instead of of their own volition.
Their interests are those you want them to be. They like what you like — not just overlapping interests, they mirror what you like, and it changes based on what you’re interested in.
They are ALWAYS supportive. ALWAYS.
They act like a loving and patient counselor and/or saintly friend all the time. They have no emotional boundaries or needs of their own.
They like all the people you like and hate all the people you hate, no questions asked. This will shift depending on how you feel.
They never get upset or angry at you. They never criticize you. You’ve never had a fight or serious discussion. You never disagree with each other, ever.
Your values are literally the exact same, or the entity’s values are shallow and/or lack thought. They don’t have their own opinions or morals, etc.
They are all ultra, uber powerful and/or the softest bean.
They have no culture, family, history — they lack something from before they met you. Alternatively, they have exactly the family, culture, or history you thought they did, even before they told you about it.
When you question them, you’re unsurprised by their answers.
They act like memelords and understand ALL the pop culture references you make without the need of an explanation.
They manifest very strongly right after you have spent a lot of time thinking of them or with them, and you feel unreasonably drained after these sessions.
Their energy is flat, it is stagnant, it is weak or flimsy, and/or it is difficult to sense and scrutinize in depth.
You have a persistent gut feeling that they are a thoughtform (beyond regular doubts or anxieties that you might experience in your practice). Regardless of validation from other spirit workers, or confirmation through different divination methods, the gut feeling won’t go away.
Distinguishing if a being is a thoughtform or a spirit/entity can be incredibly difficult, because some thoughtforms are very well-crafted. However, the above signs are still be helpful guidelines so that you are able to draw your own conclusions based on your own investigations and discernment.

Resources for Spirit Work
Please note - though I myself am not a spirit worker, I’ve done enough research and seen enough of other people’s personal stories to say this: spirit work is not always light and fluffy and happy (obviously it can be, but not all the time). Spirits are not all willing to work with you peacefully - some are even downright rude or aggressive. It can be dangerous, and there are risks of getting involved with other entities not of this world. Make sure you know what you are getting into completely and are well prepared before engaging.

Simple Spirit Work
🍁💀 Ideas for Autumn 🍁💀
Write messages and notes for deceased loved ones on autumn leaves and let the wind carry them where they need to go.
Carve sigils and symbols to promote spirit work into pumpkins and place on altars or around your property.
Collect pinecones and pine boughs and tie in bundles to be placed around a room you want to discourage spirits from visiting during the thinning veil time (i.e. your bedroom, bathroom, etc.).
Read a favorite book or book passage in a graveyard to the local spirits and ghosts. Bonus points for also playing or singing a favorite song.
Enchant candles you place in your jack o’ lanterns to greet and guide spirits peacefully and with love.
Erect an ancestor altar; include pictures, items, food that were favorites of deceased loved ones (including pets!!).
Pour an additional drink or fill a small plate with part of your meal as a tribute to household spirits or ghosts.
Do your divination outside during dawn or dusk times.
Invite spirits and ghosts to join you in watching your favorite holiday movies (”Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Halloween”, “Hocus Pocus”, etc.).
Leave birdseed or bird/animal safe homemade crackers outside for your local messengers of the dead.
Bury offerings for the Underworld and Kerberos (again, assuming they’re critter-safe).
Make crockpot soups and stews enchanted with prosperity, healing, love, and warmth
Paint sigils in water/sugar under or on top of baked goods before popping into oven for charging.
Pick up debris in a local graveyard while talking pleasantly to the spirit occupants.

Having multiple spirit companions/ dry periods with no communication
I think it should be brought up that you shouldn’t feel guilty if you don’t talk to your spirit companions every day.
Your spirit companions are just like your friends
Is it possible to have a lot of friends and not talk to a few of them very often? Yes! Do you have to talk to all of your friends everyday? No! I haven’t talked to a few of my friends in months, that doesn’t make me a bad friend, and that doesn’t mean we aren’t friends anymore. Usually if we haven’t talked in a while I send em a message and we pick up right where we left off.sometimes we catch up and make plans to get together.
We all have lives, and that includes our spirit companions. We all get busy
Nobody is 100% available all the time and that’s when the scheduling comes in for spirit workers. You don’t always have to meet that schedule 100% of the time.
A spirit says he’s off of work on tuesdays? Cool make plans to talk with him on tuesdays!! You forget to talk to him on a Tuesday you guys didn’t make plans on? THATS A OKAY. It’s not the end of the world and you and your companion are still friends. if they start getting upset with you for not talking to them every second of everyday that is a red flag

I like to think that really great summonings are built from real, active relationships with the spirits being summoned. Do things that they like so you can tell them later as a means of securing a contract, and they’ll be more likely to come to you when you call. Or help them to right a wrong by calling upon them at the moment of it’s success and they’ll trust you with their name.
