sorry but this is such a fucking smug lib take. spoiling your ballot isn't "childish" it's a legitimate form of protest and one of the only forms of electoral protest that's even recognised in this country. i am trans so who is the "least evil" candidate i should vote for? bc realistically i am going to HAVE to vote for labour or the tories and both of them want me dead soooo??? do i vote for any of the other smaller parties who also want me dead, like the greens or the lib dems??? we have FPTP so it's not like voting for a smaller party will NOT be throwing my vote away. unless you vote for one of the two main parties you genuinely cannot make much of an impact with your individual vote, but an organised ballot spoil CAN actually "send a message". especially since a lot of people are RIGHTFULLY pissed off with labour for the way they've handed things such as, i dunno, the genocide in palestine for instance??? their increasingly cowardly and milquetoast attempts to "challenge" the tories (I. E. "we would enact the exact same policies in government but somehow better")???? the horrific murder of a teenage girl to which their own rampant transphobic rhetoric directly contributed???? maybe things will be better FOR YOU under labour but they won't be better for a good portion of marginalised people. if you genuinely want change fucking volunteer at a soup kitchen or join a housing union or, idk, protest the fucking first past the post system in this country and stop talking down to people who are ALREADY DISENFRANCHISED BY THE VOTING SYSTEM
