Mierda. He really must look terrible to be asked twice in one day. He could feel Spite clawing at his mind, poking and provoking his defenses. It'd been like that for two days now. Lucanis was not going to let Spite get his way.

"I'm feeling just fine, Rook." He put his cup of coffee down on the table, looking from where the rest of the pot sat and back at his newfound companion. "Would you care for some coffee? Or would you like something else? I believe there's enough tea here for a pot, and I might have enough cocoa for a cup or two."

He knew Emmrich was just trying to help. Asking out of concern. Likely because in a few hours--it was hard to tell in the Lighthouse, but he was getting used to it--he'd have been awake for three days straight.

Exhaustion squeezed his mind in a band around his temples, tightening further by the minute. Still, not the worst pain he'd endured. Manageable. And it was hard to feel if his eyes were dry considering being in this weird in-between space in the Fade made his eyes itch to begin with.

"I'm fine, Emmrich. Don't worry about me." He cast his mind about for some other topic to ask about, his thoughts only a little sluggish. "Did you try that tea you picked up last time we were in Treviso? I was thinking of making something to go with it, if you could remind me of the flavors again."

one thing i will throw out there, with regards to romantic shipping with lucanis: i'm extremely open to it (👀) but he's on the asexual spectrum.

specifically to my interpretation, i read him as being demisexual with a lower sex drive in general, though panromantic. this doesn't mean he won't have sex ever, just that it's heavily linked to love and intimacy for him.

i'm hesitant to say much further than that--kinda ties into a post i made on the main hub--but i think in general it would be up to lucanis' partner to prompt for sex. he knows it exists, obviously, but he forgets that people like, want, or need it. he's far more interested in cuddling, talking, parallel play, etc. those are the activities he reaches for, i'll say, as a foundation. what happens in addition to those things i think depends on the relationship and what his partner wants/likes/needs.

my secret take for caterina is that she actually wants the crows to change, especially after she loses her family and trains her grandsons, but by that point any change for the crows by her isn't going to last or take effect because everyone will think it's scheming caterina coming for them. it's why she favors teia and lucanis. it's why she keeps lucanis so far removed from crow politics--she literally sends him to tevinter where they have traditionally not acted as assassins. i think she wants change and sees lucanis as the way to actually get that change.

i do want to say, my read on the spite/lucanis situation--

if either of them dies, both die. they are tied together in such a way that they are one being with two minds now. while lucanis will continue trying to find a way (that doesn't exist) to separate himself from spite (impossible), it will never come to fruition. additionally, spite will not fragment nor be reborn, much like the spirit of wisdom in dai. another spite might exist, but it won't have this spite's memories or exact feelings or experiences. it will not be the same.

i have to run but i where are my neves at, i should be appreciating them more. both genuinely bc i do in fact ship it (i thought of her and lucanis a lot when i was making the bingo card tbh) and also bc neve is an amazing disabled woman of color who should get so much more love and appreciation than she gets
