anyway, post-doma drabble:

Yugi staggers when he tries to stand up from the Hawkins’ couch. ⬛⬛ reflexively reaches out to steady him, his hand passing, useless, through Yugi’s elbow. Yugi catches himself instead, clinging to the armrest and squeezing his eyes shut until the lightheadedness passes.

“You didn’t eat much these past few days, huh?” He makes his way to the kitchenette, trailing his hand against the wall for support, and rummages for another granola bar to add to the growing pile of wrappers and empty chip bags. “Or sleep much.”

“I’m sorry.” It slips out again, even though Yugi has told him several times now to stop apologizing. “I should have taken better care of…of your…” He swallows. “I should have had faith that you’d need it again.”

Yugi waves this apology away as well, but his smile is…quizzical? Sad? ⬛⬛ presses lightly against their mental link, like testing a bruise, and senses concern, for you; which makes little sense.

“Even if I hadn’t, you’d still need the food and rest, right?”

⬛⬛ can only stare—an explanation of the difference between “need” and “deserve” caught in the mirror-image of a throat that isn’t his.

Ok, new Yu-Gi-Oh headcannon.

Yami didn't sleep whatsoever over the days that Yugi's soul was gone. For one, notice how flipping tired he looks in every screenshot I took of him

While you could put this off as terrible animation, I would like to point out that he looked fine until the day after.

While he looks broken, he doesn't necessarily look tired, he doesn't have the lines under his eyes until the next morning.

you know this part is so funny to me because there was the dramatic line delivery like “i’ve been waiting for you ✨🙂‍↕️” and he sounds so cool and regal and this meeting literally changed grandpa’s life meanwhile present atem in the puzzle through yugi was probably listening to him recount this entire thing and going “i dont fucking remember that happening 🤡”

We can say “I can’t believe Rishid just let Marik do all that crime ring shit.” but I think it’s more like Rishid realized he was gonna do it regardless and figured it was safer if he came with. Ishizu’s playing bad cop but Rishid is the cool brother who’s like “Do you want to go on a murder revenge quest? Because if you are I’d rather you do it in the house.”
