Paradise that's an illusion. Paradise where the colours are just a bit too bright. Paradise where the fruit tastes off but you don't know why. Paradise where the birds sing a bit too loud. Paradise where the sun never sets. Paradise where the people speak too soft, too airy, you almost miss how some of their words sound weird. Paradise where the nymphs have claws and sharp teeth. Paradise where the sea is always calm but you can never swim deeper into it.

Paradise where the flowers are pretty but they sting when you touch them. Paradise where the animals are fantastical but never make sense. Paradise where there are warnings in a language you can't speak. Paradise where your loved ones have different smiles. Paradise where the ruins depict the cupid as false angels. Paradise that's not home, it's never home, but it's all you know now.

With the Ark Polaris being scrounged up for artifacts of the past, scientists have not only uncovered a cryogenic pod but many other relics of the bygone age of mammals. This photo, restored and scanned, features the 'Last Human' and the extinct species Ursus arctos horribilis.

Splatoon Alternian/Human AU

Research has shown that pleasure affects nutrient absorption. In a 1970s study of Swedish and Thai women, it was found that when the Thai women were eating their own (preferred) cuisine, they absorbed about 50% more iron from the meal than they did from eating the unfamiliar Swedish food. And the same was true in the reverse for the Swedish women. When both groups were split internally and one group given a paste made from the exact same meal and the other was given the meal itself, those eating the paste absorbed 70% less iron than those eating the food in its normal state.

Pleasure affects our metabolic pathways; it’s a facet of the complex gut-brain connection. If you’re eating foods you don’t like because you think it’s healthy, it’s not actually doing your body much good (it’s also unsustainable, we’re pleasure-seeking creatures). Eat food you enjoy, it’s a win-win.

Eight: The Future's in the stars, But what does that mean when they dot the sky akin to Archaic Ink splattering the field?

Eight: Back home the they were circular and certain, stuck upon their set paths to alight and dim to naught, alas I find myself waning in faith to both.

Eight: So which fate is the one to pick, the Flickering but familiar, or the dazzling chaos?

Eight: A Breath of Fresh air or the Air I've always breathed?

Eight: Disarray is Discomfort, as the Sun burns.

Eight: Familiarity is Choking, as the florescents blind.

Eight: Freedom is a strange flavour to taste; I am allowed to do much, and yet these options are paralyzing.

Eight: Perhaps in time I shall come to rest and find the patterns in this strange city, and map out my own way forward.
