Bonus sketch dump for side order hype. Pls excuse the roughness lol

2 new wpn classes
Juggernaut - water jug hammer
Turf board - hover board / surf board with water jets
Double sided Markatana - jotter class lightweight fusion. Attacks faster and swings twice but does half the damage of the original.
(Markatana 2.0 reworked incoming since we now know how swords work in Splat)
Bubble bands - working concept for “gloves” / dauber wpns. Unconfirmed wpn as of now.
Pallet board - sub wpn concept for reflecting enemy projectiles. Unconfirmed.

Expired Octolings. Another look at the “zombie” theme for potential hero mode shenanigans. They would use bones and ink to create monstrous anomalies. Idea was too similar to the dlc enemies so it’s scrapped for now. Using this energy on “exolings” check other posts.
Light saber inspired hero markatana.

I don’t believe this is the first stage I’ve shown but sharing this concept because we might actually see something like it in the real game. I’ve scrapped my idea for an airport stage bc I thought it wasn’t splatoon appropriate but there’s yet another idea I liked that I can actually say I’m happy to see.
But back to this stage. This train station is huge and underground. Idk how safe battling would be here but for safety reasons let’s just imagine that when trains are arriving there’s a clear shield wall around the rails. When trains are gone you can still fall out of bounds though.
For its turf war gimmick I could see the trains leaving and all the turf you’ve accumulated on top of (or inside) the train will be like a reserved area of ink that leaves the stage and acts as turf that’s permanently claimed. Imagine the trains as surface area that leaves mid match like a reverse of Mahi, where the change adds turf. In this case the change will hold on to turf as points that cannot be overwritten and a surprise after the match when the train returns to the station for calculating points. Just concepts for now tho. Might not even keep this gimmick idea.

Splatoon Neo’s hero story updates:
Light spoilers for DLC SIDE ORDER below. (Speaking of the general story)
Brief story time of bts hero shenanigans.
I’ve recently finalized a few facets of how I’d want the story to play out for sneo. The story has been under a few revisions over the years but in the last six months I think I’ve landed on something quite cool. Took my time thinking of ideas for my story so that Splatoon 3 could run its course and so that I wouldn’t have any overlap with cannon to the point I’m telling their story twice. And after finishing the dlc I’m now going back to the drawing board on some details.
Not sure if I’ve ever specified how the world of sneo compares to the cannon world but the universe of sneo (the neoverse I like to call it nowadays) is like an alternate timeline in a new dimension. So both sneo and cannon exist at the same times. Even tho sneo is slightly more futuristic, time works differently in the neoverse and the entire first story takes place and ends just moments before Octo expansion and beyond as of right now. This may all be kind of complicated to drop so suddenly but I do plan to explain all the cool bits when I get to covering the story. This worlds version of alterna logs are called “think pieces,” small cards that hold the knowledge of everything that happens around the neoverse.
I’d like to take this opportunity to go over a few of Splatoon neo’s scrapped storylines. Starting off with the one most closest to the current Splatoon cannon story.
1: “Homecoming”
“In this version of sneo story 1 the hero will come across databanks that detail the specifics of the universe they reside in. A world created by a long gone scientist that hoped to store souls inside a super computer called the “LOTUS” so that one day when the earth heals itself after the incoming devastation humans can return with a fresh slate to try life again without destroying the planet. The Lotus will be tasked with monitoring the planet for the next spiritually awakened intelligent life form to rise and humanity will live on again.
Someone in the real world (cannon) finds out about this device and hacks their way into it to use the power contained for their own nefarious acts. They promise a group of Octolings a better life and a do-over if they fight for his cause. The Octolings were easily on board as their leader was power hungry and would do anything to claim more turf. Little did they know that they would be an army fighting against their own best interests. At the end the Octoling army would be helping destroy their original world to make space for the return of humanity. This entity would use this group of Octolings to start trouble that leads to another global extinction of intelligent life. This biomass would then be modified by the Lotus and edited to reassemble human dna from scratch. “
This iteration of the story looks similar to alterna when it comes to humanities last ditch effort to survive. This story had too much back and forth between realities so the newer story will be much more simple and contained. Think of the lotus as a super computer that can simulate realities. It’s also based on fusing nature and technology. The lotus is so powerful that it can spawn constructs from within itself to the outside world if it has all the necessary matter. The greater villain would’ve used this technology to create an octoling anomaly that would go on to destroy the earth and collect back human dna from inklings / Octolings. Another similarly to tartar using agent 3 as a host body to go about their plans. There was also a huge focus on dna and GMO. Genetically modified Octolings would be a threat of Octolings that turn themselves into “super soldiers” for their cost. (Kinda like how color pallets work in side order)
A digital world and humans returning. It hit both marks but this inspired me for the better to create something more focused and not trying to explain “what should come next for a Splatoon 3.” Honestly shocked how I could’ve guessed the cannon story but back then I tried to make my story more of a “Splatoon 3” before Splatoon 3 existed. But overall I’m just glad to see the devs explore ideas I’ve once wished for. Really like a dream come true and s3 has my second favorite story mode of them all after Octo ex. (Close ties between all 5 don’t judge)
2: “Out of order”
“The neoverse inkopolis was overrun by chaos so bad that there had to be crack downs on turf wars. An octoling army gladly took the job of enforcing rules and curfews to please city officials. They were hypocritical and broke the same rules they enforced but higher ups didn’t seem to care. The hero fellow neighborhood watch gear up to figure out what’s going on in this city. They end up finding back to back scars of corporate greed. The city is so nice and clean because all of its trash goes underground into less fortunate habitats.
The hero finds out that the leader of the octoling army was bribing higher ups so that they could slowly take over the city without force. This octoling leader was universally feared and didn’t need to use brain washing to get their way. But they needed saving too. As fearsome as she is, she wasn’t immune from fearsome control themself.”
This version of the story played into fear vs respect heavily. We’d see the villain scare the city into submission while she figures out how she will save it from the entity that is above her. She’s like a trojan horse to the world and she hides in the deep sea, away from civilization in case she fails her mission and is turned into a weapon of destruction. As harsh as she may seem, she’s only following orders to keep whatever peace there is left to be had.
A lot of aspects of this version will return. Took me months to create a backstory of the new villain but she will probably get a post just like this one explaining all her scrapped stories and evolution. I really can’t wait to introduce her.
To not bore yall too much we will end things here for now. Now that splat 3 is pretty much complete with story for now I’m feeling a lot more confident telling the story I’m crafting now. Can’t lie, telling the same story as the cannon was a big fear of mine so I just stalled until things came out.
Splatoon neo is still alive. Unfortunately nowadays I find myself just sketching away and making complete works a lot less as you can tell. Hope this was a cool update for dlc time. As the storyline gets confirmed for sure I will try to make more text posts about it even if there’s no drawing to come with. I do plan on covering hero mode with a lot of drawings and possible 3d work if the artblock gods will let me. Could even be a comic covering it all.
Also decided to share this last thing. Splatoon neo will have more than one story once the first once is finished. It will probably take over the name “cross contamination” from that one sketch and be a direct sequel. It’s only been thought of for about a month so far so it’s still to early to spill details but heres some concepts of the new species I will introduce called “exolings” for now and a mystery inkling who shows up. They’re very “alien”-like in nature.

Sketch Dump + Splatoon Neo Artist Updates

I’m nearly finished the complete plot of sneo hero story. Currently planning on how all my ideas will coincide with each other.
Hero: “Cross Contamination” - A sub plot that introduces Toxic Octolings and shows the failures of a scientist attempting to create genetically modified Octolings. Much like sanitized Octolings, the toxic octos have been contaminated and now show off zombie-like behaviors.
“Hero Team Up” - A pair of heroes on their night shift protecting the city. The left hero is physically exhausted from the mission. Neon Octolings shown carrying the new “Dauber Glove” weapons.
“Part time environmentalist” - Sketches for a story in which the main character works at a water plant facility. Currently scrapped idea as it introduced a convoluted storyline. Reworked into the Hero Night Shifts. (Protecting the Microbiome) “Water jug ink hammer” and “stream shot” seen as weapons. May be explored in the future.
“Tree Octoling Trio” - First concept for the Tree Octoling in the story. The hero will arrive to a zoo-like Forrest enclosure in search of a hidden treasure. The tree Octoling is protecting it, and has never seen an outsider before. Their natural instinct to protect their turf kicks in and a battle starts. Tree octopuses do not exist, but this one has been created in irony of that fact. They represent a successful genetic modification experiment by the scientist.

“Hype Mode” - A new mechanic that lets the player trade their heart for stat boosts. More details coming in the sneo mechanics updates.
Edit: this mechanic will be reworked into what we will call “flow state”

“Lock Jaws” - Splatoon Neo’s second official special. Will be seen after the “Supersize: Streamshot Deluxe” is shown off. The user summons a ghostly koinobori (carp/koi fish streamer ‘kite’.) The lock jaws which is made of holo ink swims through the air and surfaces to latch onto its target. Holo ink allows inklings to cast 3D projections of ink. It’s seen in many specials, but in this case, holo ink casts into a koi fish. Once locked, the enemy player will lose access to its special, sub weapon, and given negative effects such as dizziness and dillution. (Dillution makes you take more damage and deal less damage when affected)

“Turf Board” - New weapon class of surfboard + hoverboard weapons. It will be a usable method of transportation in battles. Comes with its own ink tank to let you “hover” from its fountain mechanism. Ink saver main will be your friend with this wpn as the hover mode will burn through ink. I haven’t finished the mechanics and balancing but I could see this letting you hover for at least 5 seconds. As a turfing weapon it can shoot out two streams of ink. The win animation will definitely look like how people dance with sign advertisements. Vehicles will show up in the “raceway” stage as obstacles you can drive around with ink like the turf board.

And finally,
“Neon Lotus” - Album cover concept 1. The twins have their final designs pretty much complete and they have a few songs in the works already. Their album vibe is inspired by old school sonic graphics. Surprisingly it’s harder for me to create songs for the twins vs ultramarine. It’s about 4 to 6 in difference. I’m definitely a perfectionist to neon lotus but I’m sure they’ll come out great. Over time I’ll be sharing more audio clips for both bands songs.
(This post sat in my drafts for months 😅just now checking drafts)

Splatoon Neo - Hero Mode: Cross Contamination (Concept)
As the hero is starting to get used to their surroundings, their journey leads them into a wasteland. This abandoned area used to be called home by many. Now the location is off limits to the average person as it has become where all the waste, trash, and toxic materials of the surface world ends up.
You must be saturated in ink to even withstand the harsh conditions down there. Without your ink mucus protecting you, you’d undoubtedly breathe in lethal materials. And even after all of that, you’re not the only thing “alive” down there… Unwelcoming, glowing red eyes stare back at you from the shadows. Unveiled to be infected octopus creatures that can barely hold themselves up- like zombies. Being an outiser, you activate their fight or flight response and in an instant they’re attacking you as an army. No longer slow and sluggish, but equal in athleticism to the hero.
Your Captain assures you there’s no brain activity detected in these creatures. Their theory is that these Octolings have been contaminated by standing water. They look familiar to ones he’s faced before but not quite. Collect “think pieces” and the Biologist will explain what’s happening.
—
Author’s Notes:
Here’s our first look at world 2 of story mode. After you win the treasure map from the carnival of world 1 you’d end up here. The general order of story mode is finished so I’ll be sharing sketches as I confirm plot points. This area has no name yet but it is the Neoverse (Splatoon Neo universe) equivalent of a Octoling colony such as Octo Valley. With each world the story gets more convoluted. This section will show the failures of genetic modification experiments and the failure of a world that portays itself as green and clean. The vibe is very different from world 1 but they connect on the theme of environmental hazards. Will share the designs of the Octolings found in this area once I decide on a name for their “species”
The agent has their “agent number” as well, can’t wait to share it once their full design is complete. I go a different way about naming the agents, it’ll make sense later

“Neighborhood Watch” - Concept for Hero mode Protagonist
Story Demo:
In this world, Octolings way of life now would be threatened by a change coming from forces which they have little understanding of. In order to not lose everything they have some players will work in teams of 4 to watch over the city by night. As in, there will be a future concept for a hero multiplayer mode. It’s still a fresh idea in my mind but I wanted to share it because it sounds cool and I like how multiple agents look working together. The main goal of the hero force would be to keep unauthorized tech off the steets for the safety of turf wars. The protagonist will work with an outsider that knows and recognizes Octoling tech well to get to the source. (Which will be the main hero mode missions)
I sketched these two while brainstorming for the hero mode story I wanna tell. Agent number reserved for their proper introduction but I’m sure it’s not hard to guess. The protagonist is kinda rhe embodiment of the whole cities want for survival. So one “number” that represents all numbers.
They’re waiting to receive the location of the next enemy sighting from their leader. I imagine they’d stake-out and travel through a cityscape much like spider-man for their overworld missions. Orange looks good as default ink colors, but I can see the Hero rocking Black ink a lot of the times especially for the fact that the octoling’s hairstyle is based off of ferrofluid using my previously explained tentacle/hair techniques.
I’m torn between how I want to represent the agent as one main default look (the way all the others are just the default hairstyle mainly) The inkling girl to the right would be the more traditional way to do things. Chances are I might represent the heroes in both genders as a duo team and maybe even do both Octolings seeing as the story has big plots stemming from Octoling history. Most of the hero concepts i drew are an Octoling girl which I’ll be sharing over time. The Octoling boy above gives the stern energy of agent 3 with the spiky hair and I really like that about his design so chances are he will be the main male agent.
The story’s first chapter is nearly complete in idea form and I’m gonna redo the prologue slightly once that’s set. In the future I’ll definitely be doing a lot of writing for the story. My heads full of too many ideas for this project and they all probably won’t get drawn or sketched. I’m making a personal rule for myself now to at least post something sneo related once a month even if it’s not a big art piece. Too many ideas and already made content as sketches for me too just keep it all to myself.

Note
Is there a possibility that the original octoling hair will be used by an octoling in Inkopolis Boulevard or are they straying away from their enemy roots?
Without getting too far into the lore, yes on the original hairstyle. The boulevard is majority octoling so many of the old enemy octolings could find themselves living here after being freed from octavio.

Note
is inkopolis boulevard a tropical or suburban area.
Very urban. I imagine most inklings and octolings living in highrise apartments here so they could travel to the many nearby stages on public transportation. A lot of the stages are stores and attractions that residents would enjoy when reserved turf time is over.

Splatoon NEO: Markatana
Markatana (Stariken) (Copy Clone)
-Tap shoot to swing the blade
-Hold shoot and run to sprint and ink a path for you to run on
-Hold jump and shoot to charge a Power Slash
Power slashing:
-Charge while standing still to release a radial slash attack that hits in a circle.
-Charge and move the L stick to release up to two dashing slashes in a row.
-Charge and push the Special button to start a parry.
Design notes:
Crafted from a tool that humans used for highlighting what’s truly important and designed to stand out itself by being a blade rather than a gun in the modern turf wars of inkopolis. Inspired by the way markers always turned into make-believe swords in classrooms, the Markatana is the first of its kind making its mark by slashing its way through the turf. While it plays similar to the Inkbrush on the surface, it’s much more complex.
For comparison, the Markatana is lighter and thinner than the Inkbrush, which allows it to have more handling while swinging. While the Markatana releases ink the same way the Inkbrush does the Markatana has less turfing range than the Inkbrush but it turfs a wider, “C” shaped area which benefits it for higher mobility.
If you try to jump while slashing, you’ll trigger a stance change in the Markatana that’ll start to charge up a Power Slash. A Power Slash charges at the same speed as a squiffer charge.
Successful Power Slashing has three uses:
-Standing still and fully charging it will release a powerful spinning attack that has a radius similar to the size of a circle that a sprinkler will leave around itself on turf. While spinning, the player can slightly drift in any direction and even cancel it by swimming. It has the power to splat opponents in one hit so it’s best to run out of its visual danger zone. Spinning too often will trigger the dizziness effect and the player is vulnerable during the spin attack at their head and leg areas. (Incoming bullets to the torso area are nullified by the attack) Halfway charging this version of the slash will release a singular circle slash with half the power.
-Directing a fully charged power slash will release a dashing slash, allowing the player to move in one direction at a time in the blink of an eye which can be followed up with a second slash of equal power. This slash can travel the same distance that splat dualies can in 3 rolls / a little bit shorter than a sauiffer shot for reference. Slashing straight through enemies lands a critical hit that can splat them in one hit. Halfway charging this version of the slash will release a half distanced dashing slash with half the power.
-Pushing the special button while a power slash fully charged will prepare your character to automatically parry any incoming bullets, bombs, and other damaging weapons or attacks. Parrying is the markatana’s “special skill” which is a new mechanic that allows you to burn some of your special to do an extra move. Parrying is a strong move, able to highlight attacks and reflect them in your ink color. Players can do all movement and attacks as normally during a parry except for when you’re running and slashing which will momentarily pause the auto parrying. Parrying lasts on average about 5 seconds. Players will be able to notice you’re parrying by your flaming tentacles and by the light trail effects left by the Markatana from any power slash. Parrying only works if you’re facing the incoming attack. The player is vulnerable from every other angle.
The Stariken are a set of 3 starfish shuriken that are thrown in succession. Landing all 3 Stariken won’t result in a splat, it’s very similar to how the Nozzlenose shoots. The Stariken can be aimed in different directions if you move fast enough, the same way a Nozzlenose can change its bullet directions.
The Copy Clone is a special that puts the player through a copy machine and prints a copy that follows your every move. Similar to the cherry power up from the Mario series. Your Copy Clone can be splatted independently but the remaining character will take over as the “original” and gameplay goes back to normal. The clone can survive as long as it has health and if the special is triggered while a clone already exits all characters will go in the copy machine and only one extra will come out but the max health continues to diminish for all. (Having a clone reduces 20% of max health to split it between entities and continues to multiply in the case of more clones.) Copy Clones will have a future design blog that shares more information on it.
Fun facts / Strategies:
Players are noted to play this weapon very boldly. They will catch your attention and be right in your face as soon a you look in their direction, much like highlighted text. Players won’t hesitate to burn their special in order to run towards you leaving you with no option but to run away since trying to shoot them head on will backfire. Special saver can increase the time a parry lasts / decrease how much special it takes to activate. Main power up decreases charge time on power slashes. If attacks with attributes such as thermal ink is reflected and lands, the markatana player will get the benefits of it. The markatana is even strong enough to reflect a full powered rainmaker shot. It can’t reflect explosions that already detonated or low force / indirect hits such as a blaster explosion or ink brush swipes.
Super long design blog, hope you all like it. The Markatana is my favorite weapon creation so far. Thnx for reading !

Introducing the brand new Markatana, make your mark by slashing through your enemies!

The idols of Splatoon Neo are almost ready to debut.
I’m really hoping to see the idols of Splatoon 3 tomorrow, they’re my most anticipated thing for the game so far. But on the chance we don’t get idols I think I will share NeonLotus anyway sometime soon after. The characters’s designs have been finished for months now but I’ve been waiting for my new computer build so I could release them alongside one of their original songs, but it seems that wait might be longer than expected.
Right now my plan is to release the artwork for the first Splatoon Neo Special weapon next then start to work on NeonLotus right after. They have about 2 songs waiting for their vocals already but I’m held back on creating something great for them because of slow and old computer issues. So because of the circumstances they’ll just have to get their first song later down the line.

Spawn Wars Ranked mode concept
A ranked mode where the final goal is to eliminate all enemy players by splatling them when they can’t respawn. Inspired by players that only go or kills in ranked. This is basically a “bed wars” game mode for Splatoon, where each teams spawn pad is powered by a total of 3 stuffed zapfish across the map. Breaking one free and taking it will allow the next one to spawn. Take all three to fully power off a spawn pad. Enemies can splat you to take a zapfish back, or even intercept a pass. Throwing the stuffed zapfish off the map will just spawn a new one in the center of the stage. So it’s best to carry it with you in zapfish safe areas. (Similar to having no-rainmaker zones)
This mode will definitely see changes by its release. I’m thinking of having a system where you have to stay at the center of the stage for a while to properly dispose of the zapfish to unlock the next one to break to add more competitive encounters to it. Wanted to share this mode in its simplest form.

With E3 coming up and as we learn more about Splatoon 3 I’ve decided to share what’s left of Splatoon Neo in its current form. I’m expecting there to be many similar things overlapping with things I’ve thought of creating and what will be cannon in Splatoon. So I’m sharing this now so it makes sense if I release something that is similar to something that’s new already.
Spoilers ahead if you want to wait for the official release of Splatoon Neo things. (By name and minimal description)
Leftover Weapon Designs & New Stages:

*A few of these are just brainstormed ideas. Some may only show up when I share cancelled designs and ideas.
Abilities:
Stackable: Porosity Up, Conecntration, Ink Pressure Up, Air Resistance
Exclusive: Pseudomorph, Bounty, Endangered, Adrenaline, Electroreception, Slip Stream, Good vibes, Stippler, Sea’s Curse, Reception switch, Scouter
Story:
“An interdimensional adventure in the Inkopolis Boulevard. Invasive artificial Octolings will try to make your visit to the Boulevard a living nightmare to scare you from staying. Free the city and play as “Agent ♾“ along side a retired hero and go on missions beyond your wildest dreams. The Inkopolis Boulevard is safe in your hands.”
- Discover the origin of the Inkopolis Boulevard
- Encounter the villain “Mariana”
- Make friends over a common goal
( The story may be impacted by the story of Splatoon 3 depending on what we learn in that game. Despite being in a different dimension there’s still cannon things that I’d like to coinside with)
World building:
- Meet Neon Lotus, the twin sister idol group of Inkopolis Boulevard.
- Stream music from the various Boulevard Bands. Neon Louts, Ultramarine, and more !
- Walk through Inkopolis Boulevard and visit each shop
- Learn about the popular clothing brands
I have plans to 3D model each stage and maybe even have a trailer movie for them in the future. Most of them will be released as drawings to share with everyone before they get a 3D version. I also have plans to make episodic animations for the Story in forms of a “gameplay” on my YouTube channel. This will probably happen after Splatoon 3 finishes getting updates. This gives me time to learn Unity more, but things may change with the release of the new Game builder garage. I doubt I’ll be able to replicate Splatoon mechanics in it but it’ll be cool to make low poly stages in for ppl to try out, then later share the better stuff in the future. I’ve managed to replicate Splatoon mechanics in a software called Dreams on Play Station which I might share soon since it’s a software I’m already skilled in using. Only downside is that it has limits that I want to go past but time will tell.
I’m very excited to continue to share my Splatoon ideas with you all and Splatoon Neo will be around for a while longer. Not included in the above weapon lists, but I have plans to make different skins for a lot of weapons including my own and cannon Splatoon ones. The first collection is planned to be the “Diet” collection where a few drink / food based weapons will come with a diet kit variant. Look forward to that after all current Splatoon Neo weapons release !
Stay tuned for the Markatana release coming very soon !

Splatoon NEO: Shower Slosher
Shower Slosher (Splash Pack) (Ink Fall)
-Tap the shoot button to swing a large slosh forward
-Hold the shoot button to charge (and store) a shower slosh
-Hitting an enemy with a charged slosh or a well positioned normal slosh can splat them in one hit if they don’t get away in time
This weapon is basically a “Dynamo” for buckets that’s still a regular bucket, unlike the Explosher.
Design Blog /// Kit Analysis
Crafted from a container that humans used to keep their drinks cold and designed to imitate the sports tradition of dumping drinks on people after a victory. The Shower Slosher is the latest addition to the bucket weapon family, filling the empty spot for a heavyweight slosher. Sneaking up on your target is the most optimal way to use this Slosher! Plan your attack by charging your slosh to hold it over your head so you can store the kinetic energy and unleash a surprised full powered shower!
The brand new Splash Pack is a new sub weapon that offers a new way to support your teammates. If your teammate is looking a little discolored toss them a Splash Pack to quickly replenish a portion of their health! Players with a higher porosity level will notice a greater benefit from receiving a Splash. While you can keep all the Splash Packs to yourself, always consider sharing with all of your teammates! (The Splash Pack will get its own design and design blog in the future)
The Ink Fall is a brand new special attack that scoops up the player and gallons of ink to be poured out to create a huge waterfall flood! More on the Ink Fall in a future design blog.
Thank you to Zaporade for helping manufacture the Shower Slosher!

Introducing the Shower Slosher, a XL bucket that’ll leave opponents drenched in your ink!

Correction Dualies: Design + Kit Analysis
Crafted from a popular tool humans used to fix their permanent mistakes, fused with pearly ball bearings to make rolling a breeze. The Correction Dualies are the most ambitious Dualies yet, thanks to the Barreleye engineers. Made a mistake and went too deep into enemy turf? Correct that by rolling out of that situation! Who’s gonna stop you?
Testing shows that the Correction Dualies build up momentum when they roll over their own ink. However, if the player rolls through enemy ink they’ll see reduced speeds to about Octobrush running speeds. A technique I noticed players use was shooting in front of them, then rolling, and repeating that loop for the max amount on speed. They were rolling around at the speed of sound compared to the speed of anything I’ve seen in turf wars before! (For reference, the Correction Dualies roll by shooting out ink at high pressure, making the entire weapon spin on its bearings. The force also makes your character spin too)
Beware the sub weapon that comes with these Dualies. The Sea-4 is a sneaky sticky bomb that attaches to any surface while it waits for its detonation. The player can throw up to four before they all explode at once. Holding the R button triggers a throw, and push R and Shoot at the same time to detonate all of your bombs.
You’ll see players try to run in your turf and place traps with them, or even set traps in their turf for their own defense. If you’re gonna roll deep watch out for them. It’s even possible for players to detonate the Sea-4 after getting splatted themselves.
Unlike any special seen before, the Copy Clone is an exact copy of the player and perfectly mimics their moves. It starts by spawning a copy machine then you and your copy clone spawn side by side. Whichever one gets splatted first is declared the fake, leaving the real player alive. It’s highly unlikely but, if your clone survives long enough for you both to get your special again you could start to multiply yourself. It would be hard to control so many cephalopods at once I assume. The other researchers think it might be a bug so changes in the future might not allow for more than one clone at a time. (It’s very similar to the super cherry from SM3DW!)

Thanks for reading this far! Enjoy some concept art for this weapon

Splatoon NEO: Correction Dualies!
Introducing the Correction Dualies, which let you roll continuously!
Correction Dualies (Sea-4) (Copy Clone)
- Push B while shooting to roll for as long as you can
- Roll too long and your character will begin to get dizzy, forcing a longer cool down and lowered accuracy
- Rolling builds up momentum quickly, if your character slams into a wall, they’ll get dizzy from it.
- Rolling takes twice as much ink as an Octobrush takes to run, and you’ll roll at 1.5 times the speed of an inkbrush run.

Splatoon Neo: Stippling Splatling
Stippling Splatling (Buoyloon) (Sparkling Spear)
-Bullets will naturally go through teammates without the use of the stippling clothing ability.
-Using the stippling clothing ability will allow shots to penetrate enemies too.
-Weapon functions like the ballpoint splatling’s long range mode.
Design + Kit Analysis
Made from a tool that humans continuously lost on a daily basis, fused with modern tech to recreate a technique called stippling. The Stippling Splatling is a great showcase of Barreleye’s ability to hide tech within sleek designs. You never have to worry about your teammates blocking your shots ever again with this weapon as the bullets will go straight through them! So many splats have been missed because of a inconsiderate teammate but now that’s a thing of a past for Stippling players.
The Stippling plays well with the Brella Class. The cephalopods testing these weapons quickly saw how great it was to use each other as uh.. body shields for maximum defense. It’s rare to see teammates protect the range player but the Stipplings power to have range and an extra layer of defense makes for a deadly combo in the right hands. I’ve noticed that users tend to struggle with up close battles though.
Be on the lookout for the Buoyloon, it’s a new sub weapon that floats in the air and pulls anyone who shoots it towards it. This can be helpful to reach safe spaces quickly or even set up a trap for long range aggressors.
The Sparkling Spear is a new special weapon that will send a wave of electricity through connected ink surfaces when it lands. The wave can be jumped over, but if a player is hit by it they’ll be stunned for a brief moment. (More information coming in its own blog post)
The Stippling Splatling functions exactly like the ballpoint pen minus the low ranged mode. It’s new stippling mechanic shows that it can get pretty creative in the right hands. To not make this weapon irrelevant with the coming Stippling ability, it’s given the ability to penetrate certain objects when you wear it with this weapon equipped. (Such as going through the shields of the rainmaker instead of stopping) Balancing not yet perfected.

Splatoon Neo: Bubble Bow | Art Process Video
Bubble Bow (D-koi)(Aluka Net)
- Hold the ZR trigger to charge a bubble shot of ink. The longer it’s charged will increase its distance, with a max distance matching the E-liter.
- After charging the shot to its max, the bubble you shoot will be able to bounce off surfaces before it pops.
- While charging, a laser will appear following the trajectory of the shot. It will also show how it will ricochet and be visible to all players.
- The combined damage from the impact from the bubble popping and the bubble colliding with an enemy at max velocity is greater than 100.
Design + Kit Analysis:
A dangerous tool used by humans to hunt sea life combined with a toy that brings the youth joy. The Bubble Bow is a fearsome weapon in the hands of a player that’s great at making 3D calculations. The projectile bubble will bounce off of surfaces at blazing speeds. Even if you’re around the corner, you’re still in kill range if the Bubble bounces it’s way to you. The rubber duck bubble solution changes the way the bubble interacts with surfaces. Keep in mind that it pops at the end for extra damage, but a critical is already enough for a splat.
Don’t fall for the trap that BB players usually use to trick enemies into their sights. The D-Koi sub weapon makes it look like a player is swimming around in their ink. It’s remote controllable and it can splat you as well. Try to spot the fin that hangs out of the surface, then splat it when you feel like it’s a safe time to.
The Aluka Net is a new special that’s thrown out into the stage as a huge net that can disrupt multiple players. If you’re caught you’ll be slowed down as of hit by a disruptor sub from Splatoon 1. The net is designed so that users can toss it in from afar and collect their catches for splats. Players affected by the net cannot escape by super jumping until the special wears off. Repeatedly turning from a kid to squid has been noted to let some players escape the net early by chance.
If you want to splat a BB player, you’ll most likely have to rush in and use their charge time against them. But be weary of the uncharged shots, they don’t travel very far and pop very quick. This is similar to how Luna Blasters will get splats but the bubble bow has to get 3 indirect uncharged hits to splat. 1 crit at low charge is equal to two indirect hits. (Only max charged direct hits splat in one hit)
