i know we've talked about this before, but dean fell in love when cas said "we're making it up as we go" because that's the dean thesis statement that's the team free will thesis statement and dean's been walking that line his entire life the only person in his family who believes that destiny isn't real and if it is real than fuck it he's making his own rules and suddenly the guy who scooped him out of hell and is his first lucky break ever looks a the literal mouthpiece of destiny a prophet (god even, but that reframing will come later) in the eyes and says we're making it up as we go and then dies to get dean out of that room

sooo crazy to think about how all first three supernatural showrunners were jewish (life on this planet is all that matters, heaven is a false dream and a bit of fascist state) and then BAM. mormon andrew dabb. heaven ending = happy ending. kill the protagonist. his cruel father lives down a sunlit road. peace forever (what’s free will again?)
