so if princessfic is secretly about a real life friend group with a fantasy coat over it, what does the dragon represent, is she just some random kidnapper?

its not 1:1 real life, there are still fantasy elements, its just that the characters and their personalities and how they react to things is very grounded in modern queer scenes and the internet. the part thats real is the way these characters engage with each other, the way they treat each other and talk about each other wouldnt change much if the dragon were instead, say, an unwanted houseguest or someone whos house yr friend drives you to after a party and its like awkward and you kinda wanna go but like her car is broken down so you just gotta sit there while this weird anxious chick who only wears plaid sweatpants asks if you want some of her mac and cheese. except you really hit it off with her and move in and shes the only one with a car and a decently sized house so people keep staying over for whatever reason. for all intents and purposes the maid was flown out to like some other state to meet with a friend but has to stay with the dragon cus [unforseen bad circumstance] and none of them can afford a plane ticket back. there u go

so far one theme of the 30s for me has been realizing that literally every human being on earth who appears completely cool and collected and together with it at first glance has some threshold past which enough known information about them will shatter that mystique completely. i don't even say this negatively or pessimistically it's just been helpful to keep in mind that we're all like that.

and last post on it but you've gotta stop framing poly and monogamous as orientations and acting like this kind of critique is just "poly people not understanding monogamy." i understand monogamy very very well, and in fact well enough to know that possession of a partner and entitlement to exclusivity over their body and affection are not inborn apolitical whims of the heart which can never be questioned or dismantled

its really cool that we discovered glass which is the material that doesnt have any chemical reactions with anything in the universe very useful for doing chemistry due to being able to put things in it to contain chemical reactions and never having it react with the things that are in it due to it being completely and entirely unreactive to every chemical

"violations of monogamy are wrong because of STIs!!" is a deeply serophobic argument obviously but it also just makes me worry about you people's sexual safety if you genuinely think that monogamy means you don't have to know anything about or ever think of STIs. most people will get one at some point in their lifetime, they're not a huge deal, they're not all spread exclusively through sexual contact, the vast majority are completely curable and easy to treat, stop whinging about it and go get a panel done if you haven't in a while

the more i think about polyamory the more i think that cheating is kind of an inflated type of non-harm that can only be categorized as harm if you think of being someone's partner as in part owning them and and being owed sexual exclusivity. like oh you had sex with someone else, ok. you can love multiple people who cares. why do i get to control your sex life and sexual preferences
